Posted Image The American oil company KIK Corporation is building an ice road to explore the remote northern Arctic National Wildlife Refuge seeking energy independence. Independent environmentalists work together in a drilling base headed by the tough Ed Pollack in a sort of agreement with the government, approving procedures and sending reports of the operation. Slowly but surely, the conditions and a series of disturbing events take their toll on the group, and as they fall apart emotionally and begin to lose their sanity one by one, an outside force that has been dormant for years threatens to tear them apart. This film surprised me in sooo many ways, I definitely was not expecting it to be this powerful, effective, frightening, or for it to carry such strong messages with it. The theme of why we shouldn't fuck with nature and how nature WILL eventually strike back against us is handled well and isn't too heavy handed. THe characters are diverse, likeable, hateable, sympathetic, and unpredictable and the same goes for the series of events that plague them. Some parts of the film gave me a case of the chills and it happens whenever I watch it for some reason. Don't just watch this. Buy it. 8.5-9/10 Posted Image |

Well said BabyFirefly. This movie rocked. Obviously a winter/snow movie, so I'm excited just at the look. The plot obviously works cause what else would a team of people be doing that far north? But then the "horror" starts up and sets in. A lil confusing at first; then again, I didn't sit down and focus on it. As said before, I was shockingly surprised. When I think of the vast expanse of the arctic with NO people even close? Its not only scary, but the idea literally "chills" your spine, lol. Pretty good movie with a great message. O yea, it blows Piranha out of the WATER, no pun intended, lol Edited by Meyersreincarnate, Sep 18 2012, 08:16 PM.
