discuss which one you think is better and why?

i personally think 80's horror is better, less cgi, better characters, better story, better atmosphere and of coarse better blood and guts in most of the movies.

I think it depends on what type we're talking.
Things like The Descent, Silent Hill, TDR, FDs 1/2/5, Saws 2/3/6, and RZH2 are just borderline flawless (if not completely flawless) and I DO think I (slightly) prefer them to most 80s horror.
But comparing modern slashers in general to 80s slashers in general? The 80s slashers kick their asses. Curtains and HOSR and Stage Fright <3333333

80's horror > Modern IMO. While SR, Scream (original), FD 1,2, and 5 are better than tons I honestly like the atmosphere of 80's slashers better not to mention today's horror lacks chase scenes and great atmospheres.

80s slashers are without a doubt better when we're talking in general. Like Repo said, there are a few specific films of the last decade that stomp on like 90% of 80s slashers. Nothing AGAINST 80s films with that statement though. They just usually had more limited budgets, fresh faced actors with no esxperience and a fun story quickly thrown together (three reasons I love 80s slashers lol). Modern horror is more of a mixed bag than the 80s as well. Sure we had paranormal films and mysteries and such then but the genre was mostly geared toward slashers, way more than today, while today we get a ton of everything, but in cycles. For example 2004 had a ton of zombie films, 2005 had 'torture porn' and realistic horror, for a while we had PG13 films and remakes everywhere, 2009 we had alot of slashers and more remakes, and now we're in the paranormal cycle.

Im honestly not sure what to vote for XD

I'll go with the 80s because I wish I lived in a world where a slasher was playing at my local theater almost every weekend. I really wish the slasher genre could make a huge comeback- they did in 2009 but we never got any sequels to em. ugh.

I'm more of a fan of the 80s slashers... Like Mystique said, I really don't like how over CGI'd a lot of today's horror movies are. I love the ingenuity and special effects of the 80s movies, and I love puppetry from 80s movies.
