Yeah you read that title correctly. After selling off LucasFilm to Disney, it appears that Disney is going to go ahead and target Star Wars Episode 7 for a 2015 release. Assuming this isn't some sort of joke I'm going to go ahead and shake my head in shame. It's not necessarily a terrible idea, perhaps Disney will bring a unique and interesting take on the series but I honestly think a better sci-fi movie can be made with a different cast, story, and universe at this point. We are never going to recapture the magic of the original trilogy and anything close in the same universe is just going to be covering the same ground and hidden in the shadow of the originals. I'd rather they dig new tunnels than mine the already empty ones. I'm cautiously optimistic but let's get creative again Hollywood!

Thoughts?

Can't call myself a fan but the fact that Disney is behind this makes me hurl, especially since they make everything crap.

My dad will probably take me when it's released. I love R2-D2 though. <3

THis is either going to be amazing or one of the worst films of 2015. I doubt it'll be in between lol.
Im gonna see it but it's not gonna be a huge priority.

Not actually a fan of Star Wars, so this movie wouldn't effect me.

Well at least I'm not the only one who's less than excited. I was starting to think I was insane when my FB wall lit up with cheers of joy then went over to IMDB to find two groups of people completely for or against it waging war. It's not necessarily a bad thing but it's obviously a money issue. I don't think anyone truly asked for this, but it's easier and less risky to make a star wars sequel than to create a new star wars. I'm sure they've got tons of story to work with but anything in this universe is going to start feeling stale. Say what you will about Avatar (weak copypasta story) but at least the universe was unique and creative.

Completely off topic...but also sort of on topic. They received the rights to Indiana Jones which also has me a little upset. They'll probably jump right on that series with a remake, which I suppose is better than another sequel, but what I really want is a new treasure-hunting adventure series. I mean no one loves Indiana Jones more than me, but I already know him and I enjoyed the times I had with him, now I want something new. I suppose it's just an overall disappointment with Hollywood and remakes/sequels as of late, I'm sure I'll enjoy it but I'll always be left wonder what these creative individuals could of done if they weren't locked down to old stories and characters.
