Nothing remains... We are nomads in a land of death. Please identify yourself below: NAME: Name and/or nickname(s). Full/real names aren't necessary if you wish to keep them a mystery. AGE: Preferably over 25 years of age. Will not accept anything younger at this time; we already have enough. NATIONALITY: Country/city of origin, and country/city of residence pre-apocalypse. PICTURE: Preferably something smaller than 500 pixels2. PERSONALITY: The characteristics that make up an individual; please be unique, original, and creative, while making sure to detail each point. HISTORY: Entire history of an individual, or just important/unimportant parts. Try NOT to include any details about the apocalypse ANYWHERE. It'd be easier if I just came up with what happened on my own, in case you decide to create, say, siblings, and only one of them is accepted, leaving me to decide what happened to the other sibling. ACQUIRED SKILLS: Skills that could be useful or interesting in a post-apocalyptic world; ranging from knowledge in weapons, medical supplies, and herbology, to skills in animal care, guitar, and ballet. RELATIONSHIPS: Pre-apocalypse relationships or other. COLOUR: Please pick any one of the 7 colours-- purple, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange or red. Very important. STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Strengths and weaknesses the character could have; pacifism, allergies, courage, etc. INTERESTS/FEARS: Interests and fears the character could have; books, art, dogs, etc. EXTRA INFORMATION: Anything else you want to include goes here. Yes, this time it's for real. I've been wanting to do this for the past 2-3 months, and was holding it off until around now, hoping that the RPG section would've died down a little bit... However, I didn't count on there being so many RPGs starting lately. I figure it won't be any different if I waited a little longer. So, whatever, fuck it. I'm starting it now. Sign-ups are expected to close in early or mid December, but there will obviously be "exceptions." Some more stuff about this RPG: Setting: Colorado, late autumn, 2013, several months after the apocalypse began. Characters: I'm looking for about 7-8, and everybody will be able to create 2, maybe 3 max if you really want to, seeing how I figure only like... 5 people will be interested in joining. So, this'll go audition-style. A couple extra characters might appear later on to replace whoever has been killed off by that point. Please don't make your characters paper thin; the more thought put in will increase the likelihood of acceptance. Style of Writing: I'mma write this bitch, so you don't have to worry about that. I do count on you guys sending in your choices as soon as possible, and not two months delayed (has happened before, killed an RPG for me). This time however, you guys will have FIVE days to make your choices, and I will remind you of that. Over. And over. And over. And over. And then I'll make a decision for you which may not be so lovely. Miss two choices in a row, your character will be axed, regardless of how important they appeared to be. Participation: Please don't sign up if you're planning on dropping off the face of the Earth. I want to write an active RPG, not just one that gets 1 or 2 comments saying "lol here iz my choice" or "i like dis" after every third update. So yeah. Don't forget about me guyz. I will be sad, and this RPG will cease to be, and I will forever lose hope for RPGs everywhere, never writing one again. No pressure though. Music: Will be posted in this thread in separate spoiler tags as an entire "soundtrack" instead of just linking to Youtube videos, on account of those annoying 5 minute ads that play like, 70% of the time, and are annoying, distracting, etc. As I write and as you read, various bits of music will play over certain scenes to add dramatic flare. Naturally, the music will not play itself, so by your own choice, the soundtrack will be here, updated every time, if you so choose to include my taste of music in your reading. NAME: April Sinclair AGE: 36 NATIONALITY: Conceived in Lyon, France. Born in Colorado, United States, where she currently resides. PICTURE: Posted Image (Sarah Blasko) PERSONALITY: April is very outgoing, and is a very odd and quirky woman. She loves to tell stories, to sing and to perform to people, especially children. She sometimes speaks in an over-exaggerated manner in order to amuse these children while telling them stories or while informing them about something. She will sometimes break into a dance from a walk and might even break into song at random times. One could say that April's life is all but one big musical brought into reality, wherein April is the star. April is very kind to her fellow man and will do whatever she can to ensure the happiness of those around her. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and could never hurt some ones feelings, let alone hurt them physically. She is most happy when those around her are happy. The sight of a happy child with a smile on their face fills April's heart with warmth, causing her to try and behold this sight as often as she can. She has no qualms when it comes to opening up to people and quite often tells her own life story to children, over-exaggerating certain elements much to the delight of her young listeners. She does as much as she can to make them feel involved in the story. While April is a native of Colorado, she still speaks with the faintest of a French accent, something picked up from being around her parents. One of her hobbies is to plot out and discover how far her ancestry goes back. From a young age, Kate taught April how to speak her native French, causing April to be both fluent in English and French. April was fascinated by their homeland and constantly asked her parents about it. She hopes to one day visit France, to see it all for herself. April doesn't have many close friends, at least, ones that are her own age. Before the apocalypse, she was good friends with Danica, the current receptionist of the local hospital who was good friend's with Kate, April's mother. April was also good friends with most of the children in the hospital's Children's Ward. Such as little Jimmy Davis, who lost both his parents in a car accident, or the teenager Lana Thompson, who was sexually abused by her father from the age of 5. These children feel like a family to April, a family that she would do anything for. The children looked up to April as though she was their godmother/older sister, and they all loved her deeply for the time that she used to spend with them. HISTORY: April was born and raised in Colorado. She has lived there her entire life, yet she's still a bit of an outsider. April was born to Howard and Kate Sinclair, both of whom were immigrants from France. Kate was pregnant with her daughter when her and Howard made the trip to America and gave birth shortly after they arrived in their new home country. The couple deemed that they were blessed to not only arrive safely in America, but for their daughter to be delivered to them safely as well. In remembrance of this, they decided to name their daughter after the month that they had arrived, April. As soon as they arrived in America, Howard and Kate quickly took up jobs in order to support their family. Howard became a manual worker in a steel mill, while Kate began work as a receptionist at a hospital. Even though Howard and Kate had lived in France for their entire lives, they still knew how to speak fluent English and fitted into their new jobs quite well. Howard would always put in the extra work at the mill and became known as one of the best workers in the place, while Kate became known as the friendly, French receptionist that everyone loved to talk to. Howard and Kate never ended up having anymore children, so April was always the apple of their eyes. Even though was she extensively looked after and cherished, April grew up as an adventurous child and always found new ways to hurt herself. Whether it was climbing trees or skipping down storm drains, April was always a free spirit and always found new and interesting ways to pass the time. At school, April was always an outcast. She never really fit in with any of the kids, and kind of just drifted around the schoolyard on her own. She was friendly with a few kids here and there but overall, she was pretty much a loner. In fact, she conversed with the teachers more than she did her classmates. It didn't bother April though, she was always off in her own little world, doing her own thing. While she wasn't good at making friends or conversing with her classmates, one thing that April did do well at school, was the actual schooling itself. She always achieved high grades and was top of her class in nearly everything. No one could work out how the kooky, care-free girl who drifted around the schoolyard could amass such great grades. April never committed to studying or to bettering her grades and just seemed to possess a natural intelligence. April's mother, Kate, was a big fan of music and film from the 1960's and introduced April to this at a young age. This resulted in April growing up with a shared taste with her mother with their love for the era. This taste also drifted into fashion, resulting in April wearing a lot of clothes of a more 'older' styling. April is never seen wearing the current trends of the fashion world and wouldn't be seen dead flaunting off any skin. After he saved up enough money from working in the steel mill, April's father Howard left his job (on good terms with his employer) and bought a vacant building. He renovated it and turned it into a respectable storefront, starting his very own small trinket store. Howard was always interested in little trinkets and found that the smallest devices, were always the most unique. While the store wasn't a massive source of income it provided a welcome niche to the community of their town and combined with Kate's income, the family earned enough money to live comfortably. After school, April used to spend her time in the store with her father, helping him operate the business while also being generally fascinated by all the different contraptions that he kept in stock. Howard used to teach April about all of the devices, fueling her interest, which resulted in her becoming just as knowledgeable in the business as her father, if not more. April would also sometime visit Kate at her job as well, at the hospital. April is loved by the hospital staff, who all care for the kind young woman. One day while visiting her mother, April accidentally stumbled into the Children's Ward. There she saw all of the young children who's lives had been torn apart by either sickness, injury or sometimes neglect. She witnessed first hand the pain the children had to go through, sometimes without even a family to support them. April was in despair at the sight of these kids in misery, and was even more saddened by the fact that she knew that was their nothing that she could do to ease their pain. Or was there? When April saw all the young faces looking back at her, showcasing the pain behind their eyes, April did the first thing that came to her mind. She sang. Her beautiful voice echoed through the halls of the ward, catching the children by surprise. By the time April had finished, all of the children were huddled around her, entranced by her, smiling at the entertainment that she provided for them, forgetting all about their problems, just for that one moment. When April realized what she had done, she decided she had a new purpose. To help these kids, to get their minds off all the things that the world has done wrong to them, to provide a shoulder to cry on, to make them happy. April now visits the children at least once a week and has developed quite a following at the hospital. Sometimes she will sing once again for the children, other times she will bring a book to read to them while sometimes she will even bring in props or puppets and put on her own stage show for them all. But most importantly, April would come into the ward to speak with them, to act as a confident and a source of comfort. Eventually April graduated from high school, and with her high grades she was a sure thing to be accepted into college. But, April chose not to pursue a higher level of education and decided to remain at the store, helping out her parents. When questioned about this, she merely exclaimed that she had already found her calling, and that calling was among the many trinkets that filled her with wonder. When April was 22, her mother died from lung cancer. Kate ended up passing away as a patient at the very hospital that she worked at. This crushed April, causing her to find comfort with the children. After her mother's passing April ended up spending more and more time in the hospital, cherishing the time that her and all the children spend together. Every now and then April will walk into the room where Kate spent her last moments, sitting in there for a while, as though she is trying to feel her mother's calming presence. A few year's after this, April's father decided to retire. He passed the store onto April, and comes to check in on it every now and then to make sure everything's all right. He also makes sure to regularly visit April when he can, with Kate's death reminding him of just how short one's life can be. Kate's passing only brought April and Howard closer together, with April also making sure to check up on her father when she can. ACQUIRED SKILLS: April is a great visual artist and may be able to raise the morale of those around her by creating something either amusing or beautiful to look at. April has a very soothing and enchanting singing voice that may also aid her in cheering up whoever she is traveling with. Along with her voice, April is also quite talented with a wide range of instruments from the Guitar to the Piano, and even the Glockenspiel. While not an expert in the field of medicine, her time spent in the hospital has blessed April with the knowledge of how to treat a basic wound, as well as the necessary steps required in order to prep someone for an operation. Possesses a pretty in depth knowledge of mechanical devices and how they operate. Is pretty good at calming someone down if they find themselves in a aggravating and/or frightening situation. RELATIONSHIPS: Pre-Apocalypse: April is currently single and isn't really interested in the whole dating scene. The only people she socializes with are her father Howard, Danica the receptionist along with all of the other staff at the hospital (who all hold April in high regard), the children in the ward and the customers that come into her trinket store. April may settle for a relationship if she feels as though she's found the right guy, but at the moment she's content with how her life is playing out. (Hold off on the rest until I have selected the active characters). COLOUR: Indigo STRENGTHS: Possesses a pretty in depth knowledge of mechanical devices and how they operate. Is very creative and has a great sense of imagination. Has an amazing singing voice. Though April can be quite odd and quirky, she can usually win people over in a short amount of time, especially children. April is quite intelligent and has an extensive knowledge of a wide range of things, from art and music to basic information. Doesn't have many strong personal ties to anyone, which could end up being a good thing. April can be quite consistent, not giving up easily. April is good at observing the world around her and takes notice of things others might not. Has no sense of shame and is quite outgoing. WEAKNESSES: While being a charmer when it comes to children, April can sometimes find herself lost when it comes to more adult conversation. Doesn't always know the right thing to say at important times. While she possesses an extensive knowledge of a wide range of things, sometimes the most simple things can escape her. Her vibrant personality can sometimes put her at odds with certain people. While trying to cheer someone up, sometimes her persistence can come off as an annoying trait. Freaks out at the sight of bees or at one of their hives. Being around fire unnerves her. Can be very emotional if she sees harm done to a child or an animal, which could result in her being put into a bad situation. The thought of death saddens her. INTERESTS: April possess a vintage taste in clothes, music and art (She has a fascination with things that are old and that have been lived in). April loves little trinkets, which causes her to have quite a passion for her work (Along with the items she keeps in the store, she also has her own personal collection of trinkets and gadgets in the back). April loves mechanical devices such as clocks and music boxes and loves to discover what makes them operate. April loves to lose herself in a novel and is an avid reader. She doesn't care much for the mainstream books of today and prefers to spend her time with the classics. April is a big fan of art and often puts paint to canvass to create her own artwork that she hangs around her shop. April loves to sing and can also play a wide range of instruments (Guitar, Piano, Violin, Flute etc). April is a big fan of Musicals and will sometimes close the shop early while she loudly plays a Musical and sings and dances throughout the store in time to the music, even going so far as to act out most of the scenes. Children, April loves children. She does her best to brighten up the day of any child she encounters and aims to put a smile on their face. April adores Animals just as she does children and lives with a cat that she named October. April has a small interest in photography and will sometimes take photos of nature with her vintage camera. FEARS: April has always had a lifelong fear of bees, caused by an incident involving a bee hive that occurred when she was little. A young April was helping her mother Kate in the garden one morning when she ran afoul of the hive and suffered numerous stings which traumatized the poor girl, causing the lifelong fear of the pests. Fire, April is afraid of the harshness of it. Seeing harm done to a child or an animal. Losing her store. Losing the items she's collected over the years. Being diagnosed with Cancer, just like her mother Kate. EXTRA INFORMATION: Is the sole employee of the Lucette trinket store that she owns and operates. Lives alone in an apartment in the city with her cat October. Items that April currently has on her: (Not sure if it's alright for me to put this here. If it's not, just let me know and I will remove it.) Guitar: April is hardly ever seen without her trusty and prized Guitar swung around her back and it just might end up being her most effective weapon as she uses it regularly to entertain others and as way to keep morale high within the group. This current Guitar is still the same one that she got on her 18th birthday from her mother Kate. Despite it's old age, the Guitar is very well maintained as April cherishes it as something of a memento of her mother. Baseball Bat: April acquired this Baseball Bat from little Jimmy Davis, a young boy at the hospital who lost both his parents in a car accident. Jimmy is a huge Baseball fan and he passed on his favorite Bat onto April so she can protect both herself and the others from what ever dangers may be lurking in the storm. April was very touched by Jimmy's gift and she has promised that she will track him down so that she can give it back to him once the outbreak is all over. Otherwise, she promised buy him a new one. Locket: April was given this locket by her father Howard when April was 12 years old. The locket itself has a beautiful Emerald stone that is engraved into the front and to this day the locket still resonates it's golden texture. However, the most prized feature for April is the fact that when the Locket is opened, it begins to play a short, yet very beautiful tune that April loves to hear. Howard acquired it from a customer at his Lucette Trinket store, with the locket's creation tracing all the way back to France. This locket is April's most prized possession and she is never seen without it dangling from her neck. If you want me to create anymore characters, just let me know. :) Edited by Eyes Sewn Shut, Nov 12 2012, 11:51 AM.

She's very sarcastic, even when at times she doesn't realize it. Able to throw out come backs in a heartbeat.
