Today's topic: Cyclones, tornados and other natural disasters. Have you guys ever been caught in any? I'm currently experiencing heavy rain and winds, and the region has been put on tornado watch. Places about 90 minutes away from me have apparently been hit with several mini-tornados, while there are reports that the town about 15 minutes away from me has been hit by one as well. Let's hope for the best. To top it all off it's (well, was) Australia Day haha. Edited by Eyes Sewn Shut, Jan 26 2013, 11:49 AM.

I've been caught in flooding a few times before. It took me and some friends 2 days to make a 4 hour drive home from a concert. |

Take care my friend, tornadoes are nothing to trifle with. i live in the Midwestern USA, so tornadoes warnings are common. Once I was travelling for work near Blytheville, Arkansas when I looked ahead...and there they were. Two tornadoes headed straight up the road. I pulled up on the shoulder behond another parked car and took shelter with a family under an overpass (only option, no ditch or culvert nearby). The wind blew fiercely, but the torandoes veered to the east and missed us and our vehicles. A scary day indeed. Hoping no torandoes come your way. I've evacuated to avoid a hurricane before, but never been in one. |

I didn't even know torandoes were that common in Oz. Does Australia get a lot of tornadoes? Happy Australia Day, BTW! |

Last one was hurricane sandy. Water was up to half a tire. That's how high it was. I live in an apt building so flooding did not get into the apt. A tree fell down in my backyard. I live near con edison plant and it exploded. Power lines fell down. It caused a blackout in my neighborhood for about 5 days with no phone service either. |

Eight tornados. One earthquake (small tremor, pretty much) One small hurricane that didn't cause much damage. Multiple blizzards. |

I get blizzards all the time here in Utah. We had a tornado downtown once when I was really young which freaked the shit out of me since I was in my daycare and my Mom was working downtown, luckily she was actually in a different part of town that day. |
