So I need to ask....
Why do people think this is the best of the series?

I mean it's good and all but =U
probably because it came first, low budget, gritty and realistic.

I like them all for different reasons.

I'd rank it like this.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (74 and 03) for different reasons.
Leatherface: TCM III (it is like a fine line between the 74 and 03 versions in terms of style and Leatherface himself)
TCM Part 2 ( I love everything about this movie, except Leatherface)
TCM: The Beginning (the reason it is so low is it takes away some of the mystique by showing the origins and whatnot. Plus, it really seemed like a case of been there, seen that; still love it though)
The Return of The TCM (or TCM: The Next Generation- don't really feel I need to elaborate)

Lol.... That was unnecessary
But sorry (to John) today is just... Really sucking O_O
Bad mood since morning
Bombing two tests in a row (that I studied my butt off for)

Blegh. Today sucks

And no. Beginning has flaws, as do the rest
Chrissie surviving over Dean is NOT a flaw. Js.

Easily the most realistic.
Best atmosphere.
Best heroine/female lead/lead-in-general.
Most horrifying family.
Some of the best cinematography and editing.
Best house (sorry but I loved the simplicity of this location)
A nice, grungy, sweaty feel that some of the others came close to having but this one just nailed it.
That hitchiker. WUT D: *Screams*
This actually helped me become a vegetarian<3.
Handled the cannibalism aspect well without having a character scoop brains/flesh into a bowl in order for the audience to understand what was happening.
The score was effective. The clanging and not-so-melodicness of it has always stuck with me.
Best opening credits.
Best, most abrupt ending (though The Beginning's comes close)
Best use of the opening monologue.

There's a few lol. Remember, all just opinions. Not stating ANY as fact (though some should be considered as such imo xD)
I DO love the other films though (well, most anyway) and The Beginning is a very close second. PLEASE don't turn this section into a "I worship The Beginning and all the others ARE inferior!" thing because I'm actually starting to get those sort of vibes from some posts and threads and things. >_<
Lol I agree with almost all of this. xD

LOL. I responded to that in the other thread. (Just moved my response)

But yeah, I get what you guys are saying. This just... never came close to scaring me. A few scenes unsettled me though (moreso on the first viewing) Particularly the bone furniture (big mistake to drop that) and the dinner sequence. I think Sally's chase is fantastic too <3

Just... the rest of it could've been better and the overall poor characterization DOES bug me a lot =U

Although I am still unsure if I like this more then the remake or not. I seriously need a rewatch, but I'm trying to save it till around the time TCM3D comes out (runrabbitrun)

Yeah that's when I'm going to rewatch the whole series lol. I'm gonna watch all six films alone, and then rewatch this one AGAIN (twice in one week!) with Robby the day before the new film comes out. ^_^

Probably the meathook D:
I do still think this is really good, though a little overrated. Mainly cause I see so many people say it's one of the best horror movies ever made lol @_@

I personally prefer 3 & Beginning as well :P
