Hi everyone,

I am new to card collecting.

I have managed to start a pretty good Topps 70's and A &BC 60's/70's collection.

But last week, I aquired a huge box of over 4,000 modern cards!!!!! What joy. Except that I know nothing about modern cards.

Each evening, I am trying to sort them out. But I'd love to find a link/post where either I can read an overview/guide about all the different brands, or better still, see a list by brand name, by year of what sets were produced. :help

For example, are the Wizards 2001/2002 cards Topps or Merlin/Topps or is Wizard a brand in is own right?

What is the difference between Pro-Set and Pro-Match? Different brands/cards completely?

Shooting Stars are Merlin cards but why did they change the name? Why aren't they called Merlin Shooting Stars?

Nigels webspace http://cards.littleoak.com.au/index_abc.html
is a brilliant resource site for cards prior to 1980. But does a similar, comprehensive site exist for cards after 1980?

Or will I have to piece this information together through Wikipedia and posts on here?

Has anyone written a book about card collecting? - 'The comprehensive guide to football card/sticker collecting' ?????

And finally a reall daft question. Presumably, people talk about stickers because that's what they are, stickers with peel off backs which can be stuck ito albums? Or do some people refer to sticker collections when they actually mean cards? This point probably refers more to Panini (?) but the 1992 Panini Cards are cards, not stickers????? All a bit confusing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Bes wishes,

tennisman

Thanks Tollyman.

I had found this site before but from your link, the page spreads out further down giving more brands/years.

I'll use it as my reference to put together my own list of brand issues chronologically by brand and come back on if I have any other questions.

Best wishes,

tennisman
