We went to Manchester today which took us just over 2 hours to get there and it was absolute rubbish. Cramped into a small area in a shopping mall. Was told you had to win two games before taking on a master which my son did eventually. Reps did not keep tabs on players. Some used teams over 100 mill while others made up rules as you went along. Even the master made sure he would not lose, straight away took out my sons top card with the injury card, Then claimed away kits count as two goals (No where in the rules did I read that one) and even mixed his subs up so we did not know who was in his 11. Total farce.

Today it was under 15's only despite one of the masters looking older. Also the lad my son played was messing about under the table which i found a little suspicious. My son came away from today's event stating he never wants to go to another festival. it has put him off. Said he will stick to swap & play tours where he had more fun. If they want to keep kids interested they should make them feel more welcome.

Our side today was close with 7 you had selected. We had Bale instead of Pogba.

I messaged topps match attax yesterday via facebook (Don't use facebook as a rule) and got the following reply.

Hi Richard,

Firstly let me apologise for the fact that you did not enjoy the Topps Festival event in Manchester.

Unfortunately we do not have any control over the size of the area provided to us at the shopping malls and due to the overwhelming support that we had at this event, outnumbering the anticipated response, it was extremely busy for both staff and guests.

The points you have made regarding the gameplay have been noted and this will be addressed with the staff who will be working at future events and ask that if you should attend another and not be happy with a rule that you are quoted, please approach a member of Topps Staff in attendance so clarification can be made immediately. It would appear that information was miscommunicated to you on the age limit as this rule is in place for the world tournament events but not for playing the masters.

Due to the fact that you were so disappointed I will arrange for some Match Attax cards to be sent to you should you supply me your full address details.

Again I apologise to both you and your son and hope that this experience does not have a negative effect on your future enjoyment of the collection.

Great point Pete. If is a definate unfair advantage if these cards are allowed. I completely agree with your point about the so called elite. I have met most of these kids a few times and there is no arrogance about them whatsoever. They love the game and spend hours upon hours studying the cards, the tactics and practicing so i dont understand how someone can go to a tournament and expect to win a mastercard when they havent even taken the time to read the tournament rules which are clearly printed on the stationary that comes with the binder and several other topps items. If they read those they would understand the tactic cards and away cards. Practice and hard work is the key to success, you cant just turn up and expect to beat the kids who put the time in.
I never stated we expected to turn up and win a card, Also it does not state on the how to play sheet that away kits count double. My son played a few games and each time had an opponents stating a different rule and the staff was no help.

I think that in the starter pack/collector guide, something g like that, it has info on all the subsets and states that away kits score double points.
Ah yes I found it you can score two points for one round only, however it does not state that on the pitch rules sheet and it did not state it on the board that was at the event as I read it. There was one kid who was adamant that once we used all 11 players we had to use our subs to finish the game while another stated for a tied card you both get a goal. This is what i mean on different players stating different rules. I understand it was busy and there was limited staff but allowing this to happen will put kids off playing. This was our first festival and both me and my son only ever played on line so you can see how the confusion occurred. The online game should match the actual game play rules as this maybe the only place some people get to practice.

During one game I did speak to one of the topps people there about it and he was either not interested or was not sure himself.
