((Closed)) The grasslands were burning. A ring of black, burnt grass surrounded the lone figure. Golden armor gleamed in the sun as it looked around. In its hands hung two blades, held loosely in its grip. Their leading edges shone with the same gold as its armor, the dull white of the fangs that made up the rest of the blades lusterless and dead. The lone figure shook its head, blades twirling in its hands before being slid soundlessly into sheathes. A hand went to its head, a dull hiss of pain echoing oddly inside its helm. It looked down at itself, noting the absence of blood. The it saw the burning grass and sensed the extreme heat it was putting out. The heat lessened quickly, becoming balmy instead of hellish. "Where," a voice rasped from the helmeted figure, strained with years without use, "Where am I..." He walked through the grasslands, running the blades through his fingers. He could barely feel them, sensations dulled through the plates. He felt a pang of sorrow, a distant memory of running through fields like this, feeling the soft grass underfoot. He wasn't prepared for the wave of fear that followed, and he stumbled, catching himself on his hands and knees. Memories flowed through him, of being hunted through the grasslands. The temperature began to rise as the fear took hold, the grass in his hands smoldering and blackening. The knight howled in the rage of his distant memories as the slits of his helm glowed with the yellow light of the vile being within. |

Mandy was on her first solo mission, all on her own. Her first mission overall since she had been sent to find the foxden village. It was odd to be doing things for the archives without Silver or Makoto watching from afar or without Murk at her side, but Mandy would manage. She had been alone far longer before she had met them all. "But why out here? There's nothing?" she asked herself. Makoto had seemed disturbed about what the panther had told him. About a base made by ANGEL out in the plains that the panther had been set to destroy. He hadn't destroyed it. Perhaps Mandy had been sent as recon, but in the vast plains, no matter how far she could see, it was no where in sight. There was no sign that such a place had been destroyed though. It seemed serene, and calm, like a wide open field on some farm. The type that was filled with wheat, hay and barley and stretched on for miles. There wasn't any way they had cloaking technology just yet. Unless they had a demon do so. There was no knowlege on that, and the hell demons had no problem finding the building. But what Mandy did see was an odd light, glittering ahead. It reminded her of a glare, like that of sun bouncing off glass or metal. It wavered and moved. Mandy squinted, looking at it hard to try and see what it was. She wasn't sure if she should go close to it at all to investigate. There was the smell of burning in the air. It must have just been a burn pile, and there's some foil or old machinery of some kind in it, like a scrapped car? Mandy leaned forward and goaded her body into a run, running quickly over to investigate. When she got close enough she slowed down and came to a halt. It was a suit of armor in a circle of burnt grass. It was knelt over, just sitting there. The ground was still warm, and it shifted underfoot. It was all loose now that the grass was burnt to ash all the way to the roots. She wished she had brought her staff so she could prod the armor. "Are you empty? I'm going to feel very stupid talking to you if you are," Mandy said as she inched closer, ready to jump back. |

The armor's head whipped around to look at her and a hand shot out, a metallic fist aimed to slam into her solar plexus. The armor rose quickly, leaping back, away from her, and drawing blades. The memories wouldn't stop, he was trapped in his past. He didn't see the young, oddly dressed girl before him. He saw a Legion taskmaster, clad in angelic armor and a scornful gaze. The knight feels a wave of primal fear fill him, fear of his slavers reclaiming him. There is no killing edge to his movements, simply desperation. He is no longer the killer of countless men, but a slave on the run. His blades come up swiftly, twin lashes of flame flying from them as he crosses them in front of his chest, bringing the two fangs back around to be held loosely at his sides. A warning, a desperate plea for her to leave him alone. |

"Oh Jesus Christ!" Mandy shouts, jumping back and trying to run a few feet backwards as well, tripping herself over as the Armor's head spun towards her. She didn't notice he had tried to punch her as she scrambled backwards and back onto her feet, but when he pulled out the swords Mandy's arms went up to wave him off. "Woa woa woa, chill out! I didn't mean anything of it. Just... swords down. Down. Just chill," Mandy said eyes wide and heart thrumming. She panted from the scare, her chest heaving as she held her hands up at him to stop and that she was unarmed. She watched and waited, hoping he'd calm down and put the swords away. Mandy hadn't been sent out here to be sliced and diced to then be sent back to the archives again. She hadn't even been sent out there to fight. |

It was saying words, and Tair struggled to listen. The image of the taskmaster wavered, he saw a... girl? The fear was still there, but it was starting to be overcome by reason. A taskmaster would have attacked him by now. A taskmaster would have brought a Legion group with her. The blades slowly, warily lowered from their ready position. The image was getting clearer, it was definitely a girl. Her clothing was... strange. But the fear returned and the heat in the air started to increase once more. "Where," the broken voice rasped again, "Where am I?" |

"Where," the broken voice rasped again, "Where am I?" "Where? You mean you're lost? Dude like.. you're in the southern plains," Mandy said, still keeping her hands up. She stepped back a few feet, retreating from the rising heat. "Whatever you're doing, dude, you need to tune it down. God, I can even correctly look at you, my face is burning," Mandy said. "What the hell is up with you? God, I come down here to check out a burn pile, and you jump up in that armor and try to turn me to ash and cut me up!" she said. |

She was babbling now. Her voice grated on his ears, that distinct female sound. It brought other memories to the fore, memories of torture at the hands of women her age. "Shut up!" he roared, blood welling from his throat. The temperature flared, the brush at his feet catching flame at the intense wave. His head jerked violently, snarling as rage filled him. He didn't know, he didn't know where he was. And this... this bitch was just babbling. "Where is this!?" he spat, a rent forming in his armor to let the blood out of his helmet before sealing again, "Where is Calefer? Where are the white cliffs of Dugmne? Where are the halls of the Legion?" He swept his arm wildly, sending a wave of flames through the grass, "Where is Turgaska? Where is the ruin of Cleotem?" He stilled and looked her in the eye, eyeslits burning with yellow light, "And who are you?" |

"Hey hey woa easy! I don't know where any of those places are. Thats all... we don't have that here," Mandy said, backing away more when he started to spread more fire. What the hell was his issue? "And who are you?" "I-I'm Mandy," she said as she stepped away again, "Look, I'm trying to be nice and help you and you're biting my head off," Mandy told the armored man. |

Tair cocked his helmeted head, "Mandy?" The heat lessened. She was... scared? That wasn't right. Even at her age, the women were confident. They knew no fear. She should be attacking him, trying to remind him of his place. Shouldn't she? But she said those places didn't exist. He looked around, trying to place where he was. He had traveled all over the world. But he had never seen this place. It was foreign to him. And her clothes... He tried, he tried hard to remember. "I...," his voice was quiet, "I am not... I am not home?" No, those weren't the words he wanted. He growled and looked around, growing agitated again. Years without speaking to another human being had left his speech retarded, and now when he needed it most. "You," he swallowed and tried to speak clearer, "You help me?" |

"Yes, that's my name," Mandy said. She looked at the head tilt. It reminded her of a dog when it heard something that confused it. Was he confused? "I...," his voice was quiet, "I am not... I am not home?" "If your home isn't these empty grasslands then no you are not," Mandy said, still frozen from him. "You," he swallowed and tried to speak clearer, "You help me?" "Um, sure. I'll help you find the lost city of Atlantis, just don't kill me," Mandy said putting her arms down finally. |

The blades slid into sheathes, slowly and unsurely. He hesitated, walking forward to stand in front of her. She was a good deal shorter than him, he noted. Muscled, but still weak by his standards. She would not have been sent to reclaim him. He relaxed. "I am...," he cursed his blasted throat as it welled with more blood, "I am Tair." He cocked his head again and knelt so he has eye level with her. Gold light dulled and disappeared to reveal brilliant blue eyes. He regarded her curiously, letting his eyes wander. She was... strange. Her outfit was different, it didn't look like cotton or silk. And the cut... He straightened and cocked his head the other way, "How... can you help me?" |

"Tair, huh?" she asked, "What nationality is that name from? Like, where did it come from?" Mandy asked. She was trying to be nice, and also seem less threateningly. It was the only explanation why he had done what he did earlier. He was confused, and lost, and didn't know if she was a threat or not. It all added up to her. "How... can you help me?" That was a good question. "Well for one, I can be your... um, informant. I can tell you all about this place and whos here and who authority figures are. And maybe I can help you find a way back home, if you remember where it is?" Mandy said. However she didn't know any of those places he mentioned, but maybe Silver did. She had to have something back at the archives. |

Tair struggled to remember. He'd never been attentive during lessons, it had never mattered what country he was from. A name came to him. Was it right? It had to be. He remembered seeing it on a flag, or maybe a banner. "Freatre," he said, "I'm from Freatre. The village of... Cryte? Cryte." She asked about where his home was. The question stopped him cold. Where was his home? Cryte was gone, long gone. He had watched it burn. And Freatre... where was it? He tried to remember what had happened before he awoke in this place. He saw a flash of flames. Gleaming blades. Screaming. His fist clenched at his sides and his head jerked violently again. The temperature began to rise slowly, and the glow at his eyes was blazing once more as the memories took over again. Hands flew to blades and he drew them once more, growling. |

Mandy jumped back again when he drew the blades. "Hey easy, Tair! It's fine, no ones around to hurt you," she said. what was with this guy? Every few questions she asked him made him go into a mini freak out. "You can trust me. I'm not gonna hurt you. Look, I'm unarmed. Just try to calm down, so I can help. What seems to be the matter, why are you getting angry like this?" Mandy asked, being careful and watching so she could dash out of the way if he got angry and attacked. |

More images flashed by. People running, screaming. A... thing in the distance. Black, eating light. Flames. Body parts flying. A bright flash of blue light. Then, darkness. The blades fell from his hands. Blood ran from his eyeslits. The closest to tears he would ever, had ever, shed. "My home...," he said dully, "My home is gone." He looked up at her, blood still running down his armor from his eyes, "What... what do I do now?" |
