The earth roared before the strike of David's hammer, causes pieces of the surrounding rock walls to break off and cascade down into the canyon, crashing into the ground with a resounding thud and hitting the small stream with a splash louder than the blast of dynamite. The puny man in front of him cowered, crawling away as quickly as he could, but David continued to advance slowly on the man, hammer resting over his shoulder, pick axe swinging lazily at his hip. A smirk formed at his lips when one of the massive rocks crashed down next to the man, causing him to scream in terror and scramble to his feet. "No sir," David chuckled, winding his arm back before launching the hammer forward where it spun, catching the man's legs and sending him into a flip; he landed hard on his stomach. The man pushed up weakly with his arms, trying to crawl away from the demon of a man that stood over him. The minor spit onto the man's back in disgust. He was so week, so pathetic. He shook his head. Not even worth the time. Wanting to find something much more fun to do, David decided to end this little game of tag. He reached over and wrapped his hand around one of the smaller stones, this one roughly the size of a human skull. Luckily, that was just the size it needed to be. With a grunt, the rock was hurled into the man's head, causing a wet squelch and a splatter of blood, bone, and even a bit of brain matter onto the canyon floor. David picked up his hammer and slung it over his shoulder, then walked away from the scene, searching for something more fun to do. |

It was a long walk through the ever-blowing desert sands, but these lands were home to the wanderer; the hammer over his shoulder was a familiar, uncumbersome weight. When the small village -- if it could be called even that, of course -- finally came into view, David grinned, shifting the massive tool slightly to make it more comfortable. He slipped into the conglomeration of huts scattered around the mid-sized oasis, observing his temporary neighbors. He glanced up at the largest of the buildings, a stone building about thrice the size of most of the dwellings of the city in the sands. He rapped his knuckles once against the stone wall to cause a light reverberation before tugging the leather and dowel door open to slip inside. A few glanced up from their drinks, but most carried on with their business -- until David's hammer hit the stone floor with the sound of crumbling rock, the floor cracked in several places around the hammer's head while the long handle rested against the wooden table. The temperature inside The Oasis was mild, thanks to one of the two waitress' affinity with ice and all things cold. With a wave, he drew her over and she smiled, excusing herself from her conversation with the barkeep -- a demon with some kind of lizard roots, odd protrusions like horns or spikes jutting randomly from his scaly flesh. The attractive young girl hopped up onto the table Dave was sitting at, a grin on her face. "Hi there, handsome. Thirsty?" The murderer chuckled -- a deep, reverberating laugh despite being quiet -- and wrapped his arm around the ice snake's waist, drawing her onto his lap and earning a surprised squeal from her. She smiled and leaned back against him after a moment, kissing him once. David's hand gripped the slightly-textured-but-still-soft skin of her stomach. "I'm in die-er' need of sum' whiskey." The girl grinned and reached into her blouse, retrieving a small metal flask. David just grinned as she passed it to him and unscrewed the lid for him, taking a long swig from it. "Jus' my temperature," he commented, his hand squeezing the cool skin beneath it. This was his home for now; his life. |
