II. Ascending Into Madness The Story of the World For many generations, the humans and angels have been at a constant battle with the demons, pushing them back always into the depths of the earth, where the entirety of the population felt demons belonged. Peace was shared by humans and angels for many generations until the fallen angel, Lucifer, who ruled Hell where the demons lived, commanded that they push forth from their oppressed boundaries, and start taking territories of their own. Many armies of demons slipped through voids scattered across the globe, making their own homes in secluded areas such as woods, mountains, islands and plains, places far away from civilized areas. It wasn’t until the planet was visited by one who called himself a “demon god” that demons started to fearlessly live amongst humans, and some even befriended the human race. The “demon god” left for the unknown as quickly as he came, swearing he will one day return to the planet. However, after a global holocaust the world suffered through centuries later, with humans trying to pick up the pieces of their shattered civilization, the demons started assaulting all humans and angels. They were sick of the oppression they were given, and sick of the unfair treatment—it was time to retaliate. A quick war raged, and Lucifer and God suddenly put an end to it, saying there was no point in the useless fighting. The humans were already crumbled enough, there was no need to finish the race off. The race was to be left alone to grow and learn from their mistakes of the past. But one small group of researchers begged to differ… Many more centuries passed, and these researchers experimented in secret on many different species of beings in the meantime. Extracting their organs, limbs and any available samples up for research, these mysterious people quickly learned how the supernatural beings functioned and lived…and eventually, where the source of their supernatural power came from. It was learned that every single individual on the planet had surrounding them an “aura,” and this aura was the source of their power. Humans did not possess much of this aura, and at the very most, were lucky to even generate enough heat for a small room in a hut. Angels and demons, among other supernaturals, however, possessed an abundance of this energy, and could manipulate it in many different forms. Aura was considered to be a “lifeblood” upon further research. Draining any being of its aura rendered it weak, and if any more was drained, could ultimately incapacitate the being, killing it in the process. These researchers formed a guild, and under the leadership of an ancient and mysterious man, they were dedicated to creating weaponry and medicines made from the genetics and auras of captured beings. This guild recruited many humans in their quest for power, and they were growing rapidly as decades passed. Fast forward to the New World, the Colonial Era, the Industrial Revolution, and every war in between each significant event, and the guild grew into the beginnings of an underground research organization, whose primary goal was to catapult humanity into a state of godliness. Recruiting many genetic engineers, weapons masters, and retired or unemployed soldiers from all around the globe from the 1890’s on, the organization was on the rise to the figurative surface and finally became known as A.N.G.E.L…. the Artificial Neo Genetic Entity Liaison. For the next number of decades, a number of beings of all species had gone missing. What was the reason these beings had suddenly disappeared? The conspiracy theorists had linked these disappearances to A.N.G.E.L., but no one would buy the theories aside from other conspirators. Time soon rolled towards a bleak future, and that was when A.N.G.E.L.’s other technological advances started to break through. Bombing cities in other parts of the world, gathering dead or injured beings for their genes, creating weaponry so advanced, it would make the United Nations drop dead at the simple sight of it, and other inhumane acts made A.N.G.E.L. a feared terrorist superpower. But that quickly changed, as its manipulative administrator, only named Administrator J, changed the light everyone saw the corrupt organization as. “My friends, we are not terrorists,” he explained in a gentle tone, “we are merely advancing humankind’s evolution. We are taking back what the demons and the angels, the vampires and the werewolves, and yes the halfbreeds, took from us. We are taking back our rightful place as the owners of this planet. Humanity needs this back. Humanity needs to evolve faster than before; humans must acquire godliness.” This cryptic message left an odd impact on the majority of society, but with enough propaganda posted around the world, many humans began to face their fears of the supernatural beings. They knew they were protected by the superpower that was now recruited into the U.N. Humans all over felt they could sleep at night, walk the daylight hours and work peacefully knowing there was an organization that could rid the world of what could endanger humanity. But were A.N.G.E.L.’s ambitions really that straightforward? Did they have something else in mind? Meanwhile, down in Hell, a year after it had been taken over by two demons—an underdog fox demon named Itachi Kumaria and the “Prodigal Son” Daymian “Dave” Cruxis—from the Dark Lord Lucifer, it was time to rise against the organization who had been manipulating the entirety of the world’s population. They had a long fight ahead of them, and they knew full well that they would need their entire armies’ strengths combined to fight the forces of A.N.G.E.L. But the demons knew they could do it. Dave aimed to fight his way into the human political system, and change everything he could along the way, to rally as many minds as possible against the shady organization. Itachi, however, had higher ambitions…sick of seeing everyone mistreated by their higher power, their Creator, he aimed to overthrow even him, and take rule of all three planes of existence. But just how would they be able to do it? The time period is now a bleak, post-apocalyptic near future... The fate of the world is up to you. You can fight alongside the soldiers of A.N.G.E.L., fighting for evolution, fighting for godliness and immortality. Or you can fight alongside Hell’s underdog soldiers, stopping the organization from further manipulation. Or you could take a neutral seat and fight both parties, or neither and carry on with your life. Which will you do? The choice, is yours. |

III. Factions Major Factions Hell’s Armies (Legion): "My name is Legion, for we are many!" Legion, as anyone worth their wit when it comes to demons knows that when addressing Legion, they are addressing the forefront of Hell's military. And indeed they are many. At any given time a Lord of Hell may have at their disposal numerous Legions that serve them. The fewest number of Legions owned by a lord is usually around fifty, whereas some may command as much as over two hundred like the Lord of Hell himself. There is no set minimum number for how many demons there are to a Legion, but the maximum amount seems to cap off at two hundred. If you're dealing with a powerful Lord of Hell that owns say two hundred Legions, and each legion is full to capacity, that would mean the lord has at his disposal 40,000 soldiers... quite the impressive personal army. This is because the main focus of the Black City is militaristic, and nearly every family has at least one or two members in the Legions. That's not to mention the fact that breeders work specifically to rear children ready for war to join the ranks. But no matter how many legions there are, only the lower numbers really seem to count. The most elite soldiers whom stand out over time get promoted higher up the chain until they reach their limit. Legion 1 is the strongest in Hell over all, and their soldiers are nearly equal in strength of Hellion Lords. This is no coincidence that a few of the very best are promoted to Lordship when a seat opens in council from this Legion. But each soldier starts off at the very bottom, in the last legion occupied. From their, through training, acts worth merit, and strength they can promote themselves through their legion, for each legion has the normal ranks from private, all the way up to General of the Legion. When that position is reached, they may be promoted again to another Legion where the process to rise to General is repeated. Because of this the soldiers always have a ways to compete with one another, which weeds the weaker ones out and demotes them to lower Legions, and the better ones rise up to the more elite Legions. Simply rising to reach the 15th Legion is something to brag about all in itself. When in human form, each Legion has standard armor consisting of helmets, gauntlets or vambraces, grievings, tassets, shoulder paldrons, and boots. Each Legion has a color code however, but there is no strict rule about which parts of armor must be worn until you reach the fifteenth Legion. From that Legion up all soldiers are expected to wear the full armor of Hell's Legions and still move fluidly with full range and with no loss of accuracy in combat, which really shows just how strong the First Legion is. There is no real standard weapon for the soldier to use, nor is there for what elemental based aura attacks they may use, but the most favored is Fire, and broad swords. A fully armored demon with arsenal looks like a completely different demon, and sometimes the look of its intimidating armor is all that is needed to win a fight. It is wisest to avoid a fight with someone from the Legions, even if they are alone, because normally they are not. It is Legion after all, and as bad as they compete for higher ranks, they protect their own to ensure they are still many. A.N.G.E.L.: The Artificial Neo Genetic Entity Liaison is an organization that has found its way into the ranks of the United Nations, back during the time when steam power was still the reigning power source of industry. Run by a man who is practically a god, the organization has one goal: to create the ultimate being, and make humans the most powerful beings alive. Not only do they create horrifically genetically modified beasts, they also pave the way for advancements in technology, often being large jumps from modern to science fiction on nothing more than a billion-dollar budget. Soldiers who are trained under the iron fist of A.N.G.E.L. become battle hardened, battle ready…oh, and they get their own doses of gene alteration, a deciding factor in who is truly worthy of the military’s strict standards, and who dies trying. To become a soldier for A.N.G.E.L. is to become a new being. --V.S. Pharmaceutical: Run by CEO Neil Adalbert, V.S. Pharmaceutical is a branch of A.N.G.E.L. that was signed into the organization as recent as eight years ago. Being a sole provider of new and unusual genes for the parent organization to research, the Pharmaceutical essentially slashes A.N.G.E.L.’s budget by a third and helps quicken the bioengineering processes at mother base. Many stocks have been invested into this company, and those who have put money into V.S. Pharmaceutical have quite a lot on the line. Mercenaries: Freelancers, if you will. They have no real side to fight for, and will only fight if there is some kind of payoff. It doesn’t always have to be monetary. The rewards can be a new weapon, an alliance, or even a hot meal. An even shorter description is your average every day man with a weapon on him and a lost purpose. Federal Government: Anything Army, Navy, Marines or Airforce, or even as far up the chain as the FBI and the CIA, they are known as the “street cleaners” around the world. It is in your best interest to note that soon, the Federal Government has its sights set on Leonas and New Haven, and they plan on making a, let us say…visit, should things act up. Minor Factions Gang: Undead Army aka "Undead" Colors: Sickly yellow green. Slogan: "Even Death fears the Undead" Symbol: Skull and crossbones of a severed arm and leg with green skin. Leader: Kuzimu Location: Downtown New Haven, the "Undead" heart of the city The Undead army is a rather large and powerful gang mostly affiliated with small thug activities, but had their dirty rotting hands in other more lucrative businesses that they control, such as the night club Rhyme Or Reason. Crimes affiliated with them range from the standard mugging down all the way to money laundering, but not always murder shockingly. Most Undead gang members are referred to simply as Undead, Zombi, or Soldier because of the tag "Army" in the name. However most of the gang members attached to them are no more than simple street thugs with no military background, but a few of the higher up members do have records and have served jail time. The leader, Kuzimu has been in control since the gang's creation, and never seems to leave his high rise apartment, as he'd rather operate from home via a large network of lackeys, errand boys, muscle men, and jockies. The gang is mostly filled by lion demons, and seems exclusive to feline demons only. Weather Kuzimu's name is his real one or not, it seems only those close to Kuzimu and high on the scale that have proven themselves get different names that they adapt for the rest of their life, such as Noise and Tempo. Gang: Wulfpack Colors: Red and Black Slogan: We own the night. Symbol: Bloody wolf paw print with claws on black backdrop. Leader: Skoll (formerly Hait) Location: Suburbs of New Haven, near the edge of the city close to woods. The Wulfpack has seen lots of inactivity, loss of territory, as well as street credit in the gang world since the death of its true leader Hati due to gang violence. Before the Wulfpack was a wide and very astute gang, nearly rivaling the mob in New Haven, and pulling off dastardly crimes against the men and women in power as well as daring high scale bank robberies in which nearly all were successful and grossed a loss of nearly just 1.2 gang members per activity. Although most members are canine and nearly all are wolf demons, it seems open to about any other demon out there, and no matter what type, the name to call members of this gang is Varg. Since the death of the first leader, his younger twin Skoll, real name Dimas Fossen, has nearly plunged it into the ground. He has no real knowledge of how to control a gang, and has a rather decayed mental state to boot. The Wulfpack seems scattered at most, with only a few very loyal members who show up to do Skoll's bidding, but most times they do nothing and live rather normal lives. Skoll is considered the "Mad King" of the Vargs, and acts more on his own whims and wanders alone, ignoring territory lines. Despite the frayed status of the gang, Everybody who's anybody knows to stay away from Skoll. Gang: Blue Saints Colors: Any color blue Slogan: The saints in blue are coming for you. Symbol: Heart with graffiti art angel wings Leader: Aruka Location: Slums (officially) Highlands (unofficially) The Blue Saints weren't always called the Blue Saints, and they also didn't take in just about any demon. Before, the gang was a rather small and pathetic one started by a bear demon named Genba. It had no real name, but the main territory it occupied in the slums was called the Bear Den, and it stuck as a gang name. Upon Genba's death a new leader, still a bear named Dogo stepped into the role, only to just as quickly be beaten down and usurped by the fox demon Aruka. Despite the fox's reputation in the slums, he doesn't have a street name, nor does he seem like a threat to any of the other gangs in New Haven. The activities associated with Saints aren't anything to write home about, mostly dealing in drugs and pushing illegal gambling on street fights. Though its saintly disposition comes from the dispersal of the money garnished from these activities, being spread through the slums to make life easier on everyone. Feuding within the gang is common, but kept under control and hidden. Distrust between members is also rampant, but given time as it only now got a new leader who has a plan and a good head on his shoulders, it should be about as orderly as the Undead or even better, Hati's old Wulfpack. If you have to ask what the members of the Blue Saints are called... |

IV. Functions of Fractured Ascendancy This universe may be set in a cyberpunk alternate near future, but the rules of traditional RP’ing still apply. Your character(s) grow through “quests,” or plot RP’s, and sometimes even in tournaments or official matches, with rewards such as artifacts or personalized weaponry. These kinds of rewards are given for non-canon and PVP RP’s, but if you wish to use them in the canon story, they must be acquired in either a solo RP or in an RP with one or more players. We want to see some kind of struggle here if you wish to achieve a higher level than what you already may have created (within reason, of course)! A. Weapons and Items We welcome any and all kinds of weaponry in here, and if you wish to make your own custom weapon, please be sure to have administrative approval before using it. If we find any issues with your creation, we will kindly ask you to reduce it to an appropriate level we see fit. The same applies for items. An item can be—literally—anything you wish for your character. Anything from a reasonable assisting item, to a simple trinket that has some kind of value to your character is welcome. Please be advised, if you wish to use assisting items of any kind, that they must be limited in their use. Healing items, boosting items or combat items must be kept to a reasonable limit, and their effects must be equally acceptable. Like for the weaponry explained above, we will kindly ask you to reduce any effects to an appropriate level we see fit. B. Magic and Elements Here is a list of the elements you can use.
Magic is widely welcome in combat. On FA, we use “aura” to describe our characters’ energy levels in relation to the “magic” attacks they can use. The greater the effect of the technique used, the greater the effect will be on your character. So, if you use a simple fireball, it will not wipe you out so much as, say, a large flurry of explosive flames consuming everything in a one mile radius. Keep it reasonable. Elemental usage is also lenient. You may pick from as many elements as you’d like, so long as you can incorporate a technique to the element. If you choose to use one element, you can choose to master it and even move on to learn a second one. If you have multiple elements, it will take much longer to master every single solitary one, but it will allow for you to try different elemental combinations! Be sure to experiment with what you have available to you, if you so choose to go that route. C. Technology Considering the timeframe is the near future, the level of technology is similar to what we see every day in real life. However, there is normal technology, such as modern computer systems, modern weaponry, and modern vehicles, and then there is magic technology—technology powered by aura to give it an extra effect or two…or many. There is also advanced technology exclusive to A.N.G.E.L. and its bioengineering funder, VS Pharmaceutical. Not only do the advancements come from the top engineering minds of the corporation, they also come from the aura drained from captured beings of many races. This kind of technology is considered top of the line, soon to hit the federal market. D. RP Basics If you know how to write creatively and write it well, you already have your foot in the door. RP’ing is just weaving a story with two or more people in one thread, creating some very interesting and clever plots, though that should go without saying. There is also a particular order to RP’s with two or more players. We’ll use four players for an example. Turn order will go: - First Player - Second Player - Third Player - Fourth Player - Back to First Player Disrupting the flow of the RP by posting out of turn can ruin the story for everyone, unless it has been discussed OOC with the other players what can be done. As long as you write well, keep good grammar structure and good punctuation, and keep the post a solid and simple read, there should be no issue in RP’ing. If you are new to RP’ing, or would like to sharpen your skills at it, we do offer training. The training can range from simple practice quests to practice PVP, the latter of which we will cover later in this guide. |

VI. Races Human: The most common race is the human. Numbers are not only their greatest advantage, it's the only real advantage humans have. It's a rare human that has any special gifts, though those with powers do exist-- usually elemental, occasionally something more unique. Half-Breeds: A Half-Breed is exactly what it sounds like: a being with the blood of multiple races. They typically have the widest breadth of abilities, but may trade off raw power or specialization. Demons: There are several subtypes of demons, but most of them are either Animal or Elemental Demons. Regardless of type, all demons share certain similarities. Physically, they're quite simply better than humans. They hit harder, run faster, and can take more punishment. It takes an exceptional human to take on a demon in a fistfight. Nearly all demons have the ability to disguise themselves as humans, usually with some inconsistancy that will display their true nature. All demons have at least one unique ability that seperates them from the general population. Animal Demons: The most common demons are Animal Demons. They have at least three forms: an animal form, a human form (always with some aspect of their animal visible), and a demon, or hybrid, form that takes on aspects of both. The hybrid form is their "true" form, and may display demonic aspects (like spikes or wings) in addition to animal ones. Some Animal Demons have additional transformations, usually a second demon form or a larger, more powerful animal form. Elemental Demons: Elemental Demons are the true masters of an element. Typically they have only the one element, and are incapable of branching out, but in exchange they can gain incredible mastery of that element. This mastery is most often displayed by their ability to cover their bodies with this element: there is little more frightening than an angry Fire Demon surrounding his body with a coat of raging fire. Angels: The antithesis of the demon is the angel. They are opposites in philosophy, but shockingly similar in abilities. Again they are physically superior to humans, again they can disguise themselves as human (again with some small detail to give away their true nature), and again all angels have some special abilities. There are nine types of angels, but only two have ever been found on Earth. Angels: The most common angel is, well, the Angel. In addition to the human forms that most angels have, the Angel has a true form that looks like a beautiful winged human. Angels excel at both Healing and Light magic, though it's not unheard of for them to use other elements. It's a rare Angel that becomes a true warrior, but most of them can handle themselves in a fight. Archangels: The Archangels are the leaders, the commanders, and the mighty warriors of the Heavenly Host. It's not unheard of for younger Archangels to be sent to Earth on divine missions to gain experience and wisdom. While Angels typically specialize in Healing and Light magic, Archangels tend to be masters of Light and one other, more combat-oriented element. For the Archangel is a warrior: a master of weapons (the sword and the mace are their preferred weapons), combat, and perhaps most importantly, combat magic. Archangels are not one for subtlety, and as such never have a human form. Instead they have only their natural form: that of a human, but with skin that appears metallic and two to six wings. Werewolves: A werewolf was once a human, but now the being is cursed to become a hybrid between man and wolf (much like an Animal Demon) with the light of the full moon. Some werewolves embrace their natures; most shun it and consider themselves monsters. Occasionally, a werewolf will be able to transform at will, and the full moon only makes them stronger. The werewolf's curse is a closely guarded secret of dark magic, but occasionally even a mere human can learn to cast the curse. This curse is the most common way to make a new werewolf, as it's rare for the afflicted beings to breed (many, in fact, are driven to suicide). Vampires: A Vampire is an undead being sustained by the blood of others. They sustain themselves on the blood of others, and must drink a pint of blood a week to survive (human or animal). Vampires are born by the bite of another: when a human or elf is bitten and then killed, they will be reborn as a vampire. Vampires have many abilities, but their most notable is their mastery of the night: they are deathly silent and practically invisible when they want to be. Their transformation abilities are also legendary. Most vampires can transform into a wolf, large cat, or bat. Some can manage multiple transformations, and more than a few have hybrid transformation similar to that of an Animal Demon. Vampires are also incredibly difficult to kill: burning, decapitation, starvation, or a stake to the heart are the only effective methods. Sunlight is uncomfortable but not dangerous, garlic only gives them bad breath, and a cross is merely an annoying reminder of the afterlife they are denied. Experimentals: An Experimental used to be one thing and is now something... else. Experimentals can begin life as any race, but they always end life as a race of their own. They have been modified in some way-- most commonly genetically, but occasionally through cybernetics, chemicals, or worse. There are more than a few crazed individuals who are willing to attempt these kinds of transformations, but by far the most common perpetrator is A.N.G.E.L. Usually A.N.G.E.L.'s Experimentals are slain. A select few are used as soldiers, and a few more manage to escape, but most choose death over what they have become. Godlikes: Throughout the ancient world countless civilizations and countries have revered gods and built withstanding monuments in their names. Some countries even have similar gods but with different names, and this is no coincidence. This is a godlike. Godlikes are beings with immense powers beyond any mortal or supernatural's dreams. They are ancient beings able to transcend time for many centuries, even millenias, and these beings have more than likely shifted across the earth through the ages, watching civilizations rise and fall and allowing them to be discovered and ultimately worshiped.. however after some time they tire and move on to a different place. Anything ranging from mythical figures such as Zeus and Odin to a man or woman of godly strength not demon or holy is considered to be a godlike being. These beings do not let their true power out while in the public eye these days, out of the protection of themselves and others around them. Godlikes tend to keep to themselves as well, staying silent and only speaking when being spoken to. The ages has shown them that sometimes it is best to not get involved at all. To be involved with any human group, no matter how big or small, is to ask for outside involvement from enemies. Despite this there seems to be a growing worry of godlikes arising, or of man made godlikes to be exact that may tip the balance in the war against demons in a very negative and unnatural tilt of favor. Still these godlikes are indistinguishable from the people that surround them until you witness the power of their fury... and even then it may be too late. Dragons: It doesn't matter what part of the world you live in, this creature of myth has a legend that transcends lands and countries. Though not physically existent anymore, full blooded dragons dwell in the closed off lands of Elcadia. Not much is known on these creatures, other than they love gems, and that they live for a very long time. Dragons are creatures nearly born of flame, but every once in a while you'll find a rare one more akin to ice. But one thing is certain: A dragon is a creature both terrifying and awe inspiring. These beings normally conceived as long winding serpents called wyrms are large and imposing, with wings, and legs and sometimes arms as well. They may have frills or a horn, or many horns. Some are venomous and breathe toxic fumes. Each dragon is unique in their own way, and like a person have their own personalities. In rare occurrences these wise creatures have learned to twist their forms into the likeness of a human, much like many demons. On the human planes and on other known planes of existence, however, dragon half-bloods exist, born far back from a time where dragons still existed until the great extinction brought by man whom fell in love and had young with demons, celestials, or even humans instead. Although dragons may sometimes be found in Hell, and certainly in Elcadia, it is impossible to find a full blooded dragon on the surface in the world of man. Humans made sure to hunt down and put out the existence of dragons on their lands once and for all... a task that was not easy but certainly not undocumented. There are countless tales of their conquests. These half-bloods can be dragon and human, dragon-demon-human, or what have you. Hell also only has two known full-blooded dragon lords, Gilgrim and Behoretric. Other than that, full-blooded dragons seem to be nothing more than just a legend. A myth. Yet another great race lost to the hands of man and their violence to eradicate what they fear the most. What they deem evil and cannot contain. But evil is not born unto a race or species... |

VII. Profile Blueprint FULL NAME: DON'T be ridiculous! NICKNAMES: Whatever your character likes to go by if he or she doesn't like his or her name...or if he or she earned it through something. SEX: Simple. And no "yes please," for the love of Batman -_-;; AGE: How old are they? Supernatural races can get away with being hundreds, if not thousands of years old, and humans too, so long as there is a reasonable explanation as to WHY the human character exceeds natural human age boundaries. AGE RESEMBLANCE: Supernatural races end up looking younger than they actually are. RACE: Human? Demon? Werewolf? Science? OCCUPATION: What do they do for a living, usually? ALLIANCE (IF APPLICABLE): This is optional. If your character works mainly for ANGEL, is a merc, or on their own, you can feel free to put it here. CHARACTER DESCRIPTION (OPTIONAL): A general description of the character, such as their personality, likes, dislikes, faults, pros, cons, etc. Note that this is NOT for the Appearance description. Also please note that this is optional. Use this list of character traits if you are confused by what I mean. APPEARANCE: Simply put, what do they look like. Please write some worthwhile content in here, and please use complete sentences. This way here, we can get a generalized idea for your character's appearance. I want to be able to see them in my mind! Appearance goes right down to the hair color, shape and growth, eye color and shape, etc... This also includes their forms, if they have any additional forms that they shift into, such as animal, demon, archangel, you get the idea. HEIGHT: Tall? Short? And please use measuring numbers. No "tall" or "short," because people's imaginations will trigger nothing but tall towering people and tiny midgets walking through the city, or wherever they may live. WEIGHT: How much do they weigh? Make it proportional to the height, please. ITEMS: What does your character usually carry around with them to use in situations? WEAPONS: What weapons are they skilled with? If you have the need to use a lot of weapons, have your character able to carry with them at least three and store their others wherever they live. ELEMENTS: Do they use any elements? Please no contradicting elements unless there is a reasonable explanation as to why they have conflicting elements. SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES: What attacks do they have and how are they executed? What weaknesses in these techniques can be exploited? This is the meat and potatoes of a combat based bio, and think of it like this, characters do need to fight to protect themselves in the dangerous world out there. Think long and hard on this section, and add as many or as few as you want or need. Remember also that you can link elemental attacks to weapons as well~ HISTORY: The best part of the bio, in my opinion! This explains how the character is who he or she is today, why they are the way they are, what they had gone through, etc. I expect, at the very least, one paragraph. If you guys really want to, you can go into a whole essay's worth of history. I recommend start with history writing first, because basically what you're doing is telling a story through the bio itself, and willing to continue the story even further through some role-playing. Take your time with this now! It is recommended that you write these in a Word document before submission.

VIII. PVP, Tournaments and Combat PVP, or Player Versus Player, is a unique twist on traditional RP’ing. If you have played other text based RP’s that offer PVP, you will note right away that this one is much different in the ways of battle. For starters, we do not use numbers to measure our general parameters. That is up to you, the user, how these parameters work with your character. Secondly, you can choose to have an official match, wherein you ask one of the staff to set up a match for you and judge it within two weeks, or you can just choose to PVP by yourselves with another player. We try to keep the PVP as lightly moderated as possible so that you are free to play how you see fit, within reasonable limits. This does not mean we completely ignore it, however, so please keep that in mind. How PVP works is simple. It is just like regular RP’ing, except the goal here is to defeat your opponent in an engaging battle of skill, wits and power. When I say the word “engaging,” I mean well-written for the reader, and interesting for the combatants. Different types of attacks not only include your basic combat skills, such as hand to hand, swordplay or gunplay (maybe all three if you really want to test some theories in combo-making), they also include special techniques such as an energy wave or a fireball. These special types of attacks can go on a number of tiers depending on the power used, but you are also best with adding a finisher into your skills list as well. Tournaments are special occasions, and a very exciting time to test your skills against other players! Recognition is not only earned through a special title either earned through enough victories or, under special circumstances, granted by admin, it is also earned through prizes such as artifacts, special weapons, or a unique attack made by admin specifically for your character! Any time a tournament comes up, be sure to sign up and give it a shot! A. Godmodding Godmodding, is an act in which a player, for lack of a better term, cheats. There are many different types of godmodding. - PUPPETEERING: Unauthorized use of another player’ character without permission, to change up the game in one single player’s favor. - SHIFTING: The act of moving without explaining how it happened, ie, “Robert stood in the corner of the room” (one post later) “’That is amazing!’ Robert exclaimed from near the doorway.” - POLTERGEISTING: Running through walls and obstacles as if they had not existed, without backing it up in a reasonable explanation. - BAGHDAD BOBBITS: Let me use a ridiculous example. You summon a nuclear bomb that explodes the second it is summoned, killing everyone in the process, and making yourself the winner, unharmed, without a reasonable explanation. Generally, this is not allowed. At all. - AUTO HITTING: Unless otherwise discussed with other players in a quest, this is frowned upon in PVP. Auto hitting is when an attack hits an opponent player without the other player’s consent or acknowledgement to the attack, ie “Robert swung at Jimmy, blasting him in the nose.” This is not allowed in PVP, and only allowed in special occasions in story RP’s, if discussed among players involved in the RP. - METAGAMING: Using OOC knowledge IC to give yourself an advantage, without a reasonable explanation. Another ridiculous example to use: before even knowing your newest person you’re RP’ing with, you know everything about them, that they are allergic to tuna, that their weak point is just two degrees left of the groin, and that they frequent bowling every Friday night after work. Unless your character is socially awkward and a try hard in reading other people, this is a huge no-no. Let me list off a couple more things here in regards to godmodding in a PVP match. - There is no set limit to a number of attacks you can have in a single turn, but it is recommended you execute your amount of attacks wisely, and reasonably. - Altering the scenery in any way you can think of is allowed, so long as it is written well, respectable and within proper limits. B. Skills You are allowed to use a wide array of skills at your disposal when creating your profile. Any skill you can think of that you wish to use, however, must be listed in your profile, otherwise you cannot use it. Some examples of skill types are listed below. Basic and Elemental Skills: Anything that ties with your weapon, usable element(s), or your own body and fighting style is a basic skill you can use. They can turn your sword into a frosty dagger with a frostbite after-effect, or be a simple ball of fire launched at your opponent, or a special kind of swordplay technique you have managed to use prior to your character’s initial creation on FA. Summons: A summon is a technique that involves a little bit of a down-time in battle, usually a chant or process done to summon a great deity to your character’s aid. Summons are meant not only to serve as a secondary ally to your character in battle, but also as a means of distraction for your opponent to earn you some strategic time. Be aware that a summon can only last for a set amount of time, so be sure to include the number of turns or time limit your summon can be out for, and the number of times it can be used in a single battle! Finishers: As the name implies, the most powerful technique you have on your skills list that is recommended you use last, unless you have a surefire way to win your battle or heavily change the tides midway through with its use! These kinds of techniques usually drain your character of his or her aura the most, so be very careful when using these techniques. With mod or admin approval, however, you may also use an ultimate finisher, which always has a set amount of time to charge. Upon execution, this kind of technique kills the user, along with everyone else on the field. Once again, a mod or admin must approve of this sort of skill usage. Some examples of handling normal finishers include… - An X-amount of turns charge, and an unleash - Different phases in relation to its power, Part 1, a charge, Part 2, Unleashing, Part 3, The Climax of the attack, and Part 4, the dust settles. - Building up and chaining gradually more powerful attacks until your finishing move is executed as a result of each successful hit After your bio is created and your skills are sorted out, any additional skills you wish to add to your character can only be added through “skill acquisitions,” done in story RP’s. In some special cases, you may also be awarded these new skills through a tournament or exhibition victory, which you can then acquire in a single solo RP. |
