Well, the last episode kind of OD'd on the Wall. Glad Jon Snow wasn't killed, but what the heck is he doing venturing out without even a sword? |

Most of the reviews contain spoilers, so I haven't posted any of them. They changed a LOT from the books, and I'm not a book purist, but I do think they horribly diluted what happened when Tyrion killed Tywin. It was MUCH more powerful in the books. If you don't mind a spoiler about a character, EW has the best review, along with links to GRRM comments, the sword fight actress Brienne talks about that scene, and the director's comments. I don't really mind the change of having Brienne fight the Hound (that didn't happen in the books) but the Tywin death was short changed. |

I'm just catching up with the series On Demand after watching Turn, Mad Men and believe it or not, 4 Dallas from this winter. Mariah, yo gave a perfect description of the agony and ecstasy that is reading the series. Some you just whiz through due to his writing and others are a struggle. But I will say he certainly knows how to end the books to make you want to read the next one! And ditto! about the good editor. A couple books could have been condensed into one. I just bought Dance with Dragons a while ago, but I have to finish the latest Outlander and Bernard Cornwell books ( and the new Deborah Harkness) before I delve into it. I still have the last 2 episodes to watch, but I'm posting since I've read the books. And it's nice to know that they have changed things a bit, and it's not my faulty memory ;) |

They have a new teaser out for the new season on Gawker. Jon Snow is the last "dead" face before the alive faces. Haha. Is he alive or dead? http://io9.gizmodo.com/the-new-trailer-for-game-of-thrones-sixth-season-sets-a-1759120482 And a spoilers article http://io9.gizmodo.com/game-of-thrones-season-6-photos-contain-some-bloody-hug-1758572151 Edited by Finestra, Feb 15 2016, 12:56 PM.

I did. We caught the last episode of Season 5 too right before. C'mon Red Witch get moving already. Part of me feels they squeezed too much into the first episode - like they had to catch up on everyone's storyline. I felt that Sansa and Reek, or however you spell everyone's names, was resolved too quickly. The Dorne Sandsnakes happened too fast too. Like - let's move on. I bet those two actors were disappointed - thinking they had made it to season 6. So how does Margery get out of prison? I think she's pretty smart. Does Cersei sic the remade Mountain on the priest or does Margery do it on her own? How does Jaime not get arrested yet Cersei did? Edited by Finestra, Apr 25 2016, 08:53 AM.

I'm surprised Margery is still in prison, too. I would have thought her mom (or husband) would have gotten her out by now. The Dani storyline seems boring to me. Why send her back to the Dothrakis? And where is that damned dragon? The Red Witch didn't really surprise me. I think I kind of figured she didn't really look like she did. Jon Snow is still dead. 😕 |

I can't remember, did you guys read the books? This is moving at lightening speed compared to the stories in those. |

It's hard for me to say that one way or another. I usually say, don't start them until and IF he ever finishes them, but since HBO will finish this in two years, and they do know his ending? Why not? They are massive and he rambles but at times he writes something so beautiful and true it can take your breath away. Am I glad I read them? Probably. I strongly recommend you become greatly acquainted with the character wiki on westeros.org though. That was a Godsend. He will leave off on one story or mention someone briefly who becomes VERY important later frequently, and the wiki there can remind you who in the fuck he's talking about now. They are written in character chapters. I find it much more interesting to read the various stories in one group, I HATE the way he divides the books. It's not easy, for example, to page through and find all of the Stansa or Jamie chapters to read in a row, but it makes them much easier to understand...ditto all the rest. They don't really connect, of if they do, not often. Sigh...all in all, I lean toward yes, if you are enjoying the show, which, at best, is made of cliff notes and has perhaps 1/2087 of the characters. |

Thanks, Mariah! Westeros.org sounds perfect for me since I do get confused with all of these characters.
