I loved the restrained look of glee on the faces of Sterling, Cooper and Draper as Lane and Pete went at it! |

Pete is now the old Don. And Don is what, happy? I don't think so, but we will see. So far no real evidence that he is not happy. I want to see more Don! |

Don is older, wiser... but happier? I don't think so,either. I'm still holding out for Don and thin Betty to get back together, but I know that won't happen. Don will stay with Megan, but my feeling is that she will dump him. |

I agree, I think Megan is a lot more ambitious than she has let on to Don. First off, she doesn't want to live in the suburbs, apparently, and secondly, no mention of a baby. That might be an interesting conflict if she really wants to work. I loved Don with the psychologist last year; nobody else seemed to like her, but I thought he really could grow with her and show his real self and it would be interesting. I feel he is somehow playing the role of good husband with Megan. But if Weiner doesn't give us more info soon, we won't know. Wonder if there were any more famous mass murders in 1966. |

Oh man, I loved "One day your daughter will spread her legs and FLY!" Here is an article about bad actors on TV. I haven't watch Mad Men enough to judge, but I have to admit, the author kind of nailed it with the Becket character on Castle, and I never really thought about it before. I do that though, attribute bad acting to good characterization when I love a show. http://www.salon.com/2012/04/30/tvs_gift_to_bad_actors/?source=newsletterhttp:// |

I actually think that Kate has improved on Castle and I like the show more and more even though the stories aren't as good as in the beginning. Regarding JJs I saw her in movies prior to her Betty part and I think she does Betty great. This is a severely repressed woman. I'm sure that Matt Weiner would have her change her acting if he wanted the character to change. She is a cold fish and plays it just like a cold fish. That's why Megan is so different that Betty and has fire in her. Anyway, the Salon article was just this writer's opinion. Agree or disagree. |

I never figured out if Betty was supposed to be as cold and distant as she is or if Jan Jones could not act. I had never seen her before MM. Weiner could have cast her for her looks, which are not easily duplicated, and then written the character more remote than he had originally planned. But that doesn't seem like Weiner. Who knows? I love the character and miss her this year. Haven't watched last night's yet. Am very disappointed this year in MM. Too much 70's drifting in for my taste. |

I'm actually loving this season although it's quite dark. Times are changing big time. Are you all caught up? We watch it on Mondays at 8 on DVR so we don't fall too far behind. |

Haven't watched last night's yet. But I caught up on the previous week's show yesterday, and I thought it was the best one of the season. Maybe because of Betty, who knows. I laughed when I saw the scale, because I used to be on Weight Watchers when you had to weigh everything. I think I had five pounds to lose, but I was obsessed with my weight. I'm just not getting Don this season, and I don't want to wait until the end of the season to find out how he has become so mellow, hardly drinks or smokes at least by his old standards, and isn't womanizing at all. Is he so besotted with Megan? Don't get it. |

I finally got caught up. But there are only three episodes left. Finally I see sparks of the old Don, the character I loved to watch. As Megan said "you loved advertising before you loved me," or words to that effect. I thought MW was very heavy handed with the hare krishna scene. It went on way too long and was dull. And Mother Krishna coming to the office, nah I didn't buy it. Love Layne, and I do hope the elevator shaft is not for him. I do think Sopranos was more seamlessly written, and yet can be watched again and again to glean more from the characters and plot. This might be true of seasons one and two of Mad Men, but I have not been getting it recently. I'm finding it a bit too choppy. It shouldn't have taken until episode ten to find out Joan has turned down money from Roger, for example. And Peggy and Abe, is that just to show that couples started moving in together (although dinner with Mom was commpletely unbelievable) in the last 60's? So what is their relationship now? Spend more time on t he main characters and stop bringing back people like the Hare Krishna guy who nobody cares about anyway just to make the point that people are losing their way and trying to find the right path. We get it. I'd like to see Pete more with his wife rather than the trainmate's wife (actress badly miscast, I thought). From what I read, the Pete's wife actress was not available because of all the filming delays at MM. Edited by weaver, May 22 2012, 10:53 AM.

I think the Hare scene had 2 points - to show the times but really to show more about TV guy. Love him. He played a really bad guy on a law and order recently and was awesome seeing him in a different role. Seems like they are giving all the main players one major episode that focuses upon them and where they are now. |

I loved last night's show, reminded me of seasons one and two. In fact I must watch it again to catch stuff I missed. I liked that it focused on the main characters, in the office mostly, and touched on the late 60's changes through a natural progress of the plot. Joan's decision shocked me; I didn't think it was in character, but I suppose she thought it would give her life long security. But just last week, she could have had money from Roger. Although, I suppose then she'd be under Roger's thumb forever. This way, she gets the job and gets clout in the agency. But Bert, agreeing with this? I don't buy it. And why didn't Lane talk her out of it, not just get a better deal for her so he could cover up his "loan." I guess I'd buy that Roger would agree to almost anything. And Pete is a sleaze, we know that. Peggy, another shocker. And she finally bought some decent clothes to go along with the new job. She needed to leave to get out of Don's shadow, and to start in a place where they all don't remember she was a secretary. I hope she isn't gone forever. Don's presentation was brilliant. I love seeing Hamm do them. But the relationship with Megan still puzzles me. And her disappointment with the audition, was it just to do with not getting the job, or her seeing the whole process somewhat as a meat market, maybe not much different from SCDP. So they got the account, not through Don's genius presentation, but through Joan. And the partners made a decision about the offer to Joan without Don's vote. What does this bode for Don? |

Oh I bet don and Peggy will be up against each other for accounts. Thought that episode was damn near perfect and I cried when don kissed Peggy's hand. So much went into that hand kiss. Amazing tv. I thought the whole episode was a contrast in how and what women need to do to make it. Megan got the casting couch treatment - she could have had an offer for that like Joan but turned it down or she didn't look good enough. I happen to love the new copywriter guy. What a contrast watching this and the crappy reality tv. Can't believe we only have two episodes left Www.tomandlorenzo.com. Best blog check it out |

It was by far the best episode of the season. Too bad Weiner waited so long. Now only two episodes left. I agree with Tom and Lorenzo about Roger's reaction. He didn't seem to care one way or the other, which is out of synch with the scene last week where he offered her money. It's clear he really cares for her, and she has the baby. I think she would not have bought Pete's explanation that all agreed, and gone to speak to Roger and Don, especially Don. Interesting that she wore the fur coat that Roger gave her in 1955 to the assignation. Roger was married then, so in a way, she has been rewarded for sex before. Christina Hendricks has her own take on why Joan did it on AMC's website. Eliz Moss also says that director told Don to hold Peggy's hand longer than normal upon her departure. She didn't know he was going to do this and she had real tears. That was a great scene. I'm not sure if Megan would have gotten the part. She's a lousy actress!! I think Don's reaction to her is very inconsistent. First off he is angry she might be off to Boston for three months without any advance notice. Next, everything is fine. It's puzzling. I think Megan will fly Don's coop soon, and it couldn't be too soon for me. Edited by weaver, May 29 2012, 09:34 AM.
