OH, lovesnark, didn't know you knew the boys. I read just now that Josh will be shown this year on the CM, but it hasn't happened yet. Poor Jake. I started watching DC after Phil died, so I never saw him. As for Scott, the pain was bad before he went out, he is supposed to have back surgery, but he didn't want to give up the season so he went out fishing. And Keith didn't want to give up the wheel to Monte because he's a prick! No, supposedly they were late because of the Congressional shutdown that postponened their permits, and they weren't making as much money, and Keith didn't want to trust to Monte. But he relented. I think a bit of a script might have been in there. Sig always comes out on top. Is he just better, or is his boat bigger so he gets a bigger quota or what? I've never figured it out. Oh, Sig's daughter is supposed to be in later episodes, that ought to be interesting. Edited by weaver, May 18 2014, 10:15 AM.

I can't say I really know them, just saw the Harris clan where I used to work. My brush with Discovery channel fame :D Phil was my favorite captain and the first season after he died was tough to watch. I think one of the reasons the Northwestern always tops the crab count is because it's well run and the crew seems to respect one another. And, I bet they have a big quota because they've been in the business for decades. The Northwestern is 125' in length and the Wizard is 155'. The Wizard has a huge quota that includes the former skipper's allotment. When they switched from derby style fishing to the quota system, the captains/owners that didn't go out fishing could let other boats fill their quota for a cut of the profits. Keith and a lot of the other captains have to give a percentage to the quota owner when the money is divvied up. I don't know if Sig fills quotas other than the Hansen family's or not. |

Yes, I love the way Sig runs the boat. It's uncanny, he always knows where the crab are and collects more first. I'd have to look back and see if Keith has ever beat him, but when they run that chart, Northwestern is always first. It looks like a clean, spotless, well maintained boat too. I think Sig does everything first class. |

I didn't think it was possible for Elliot to show us he's an even bigger douche but he did. Trying to dodge the trooper serving him papers, finding out he's $50k behind in child support and topping it off with telling his child that he wanted to come home for Halloween but mama said he couldn't pushed him to douche extraordinaire. He could rescue a thousand crew members from sinking ships and it wouldn't change my mind. Asshole! Hey Bill! If a guy would rather go to prison instead of working for you, maybe it's time to take a look at how you run your boat. And, from the looks of Bill's belly, I think we're safe in assuming he spends all his off time eating and drinking. He looks like he's about to deliver twins. |

Just started watching and yes, Elliott is scum. Pay your damn child support, asshole. Can they garnish his wages or take away his license? Wow! You're not kidding. Bill looks like he ate a tankful of crabs. Edited by andme, May 22 2014, 10:42 PM.

DAMN, my DVR did not pick this up. I knew it was too good to be true that Elliot seemed to be not pond scum for a while there. And Wild Bill, YUCK. Sig is my man............. |

Elliott was awful. He owes 50k in child support, but said this about his baby mama: "you can't make a housewife out if a ho". WTF? For wanting you to actually support your kid? And he looked so greasy and smarmy. Sig is definitely the most professional. Edited by andme, May 23 2014, 07:43 AM.

Since Elliot's self employed, garnishing his wages could be tricky. They can attach his bank accounts but, knowing that piece of shit, he probably lives on a cash diet and only banks enough to make the boat payments. His Discovery wages can be attached, though. Each state has their own penalties for deadbeat dads. I'm not sure how Alaska deals with them. It would be awesome if they can suspend his captain's license and his fishing licenses. A tankful of crabs dunked in a few gallons of butter. I still want to know why Zack's last name is Larson, not Wichrowski. The story I've made up in my head is that Bill knocked Zack's mom up and disappeared when he found out she was pregnant. She either gave the kid her last name or Bill signed away his parental rights and let someone adopt him. Years later, he decides he wants to get to know his kid and make him a big, tough crab fisherman. Plausible story, don't ya think? |

He is slimy. I was impressed with his navigational skills though, surprisingly. |

Wow. Elliott's a mess. Getting drunk at the bar while his crew readies the boat. And he's taking drugs, too. ETA - I was only half paying attention. Elliott went to rehab at the end? Edited by andme, May 27 2014, 11:21 PM.

It wasn't clear, but I think he did. Which begs the question, who financed his boat in the first place, Discovery? He can't be back for blue crab, can he? |

Wow. I knew Elliot was a douchewad but I didn't know he was a drunken druggie, too. If he did go to treatment like they made it look, it's possible that another captain took the Saga out to finish the season. Is his dad a licensed captain? I think he might be. This sheds more light on the ongoing Elliot/Val drama, too. Can you imagine having to deal with that shit all the time? I'll bet he's bailed on his kids over and over to go get fucked up and turns it all on Val when she slams the door in his face when he finally does show up. |

Someone at previouslyTV posted a link to the Alaska courts website. Elliot has quite the history with Alaska law enforcement and the court system. Val was the petitioner in the custody and child support case and was granted default judgement because Elliot and his attorney were no shows after several continuances were granted. Asshole can cry all he wants. He had the chance to plead his case and blew it off.
