I think Robyn gets the most sex, and I think Meri has abdicated her sex nights for Robin. Because it is so important for that dick peter pan to get some. Janelle isn't getting any because she is way over this shit. And the other one, well, she was awfully mad/jealous at Robin, so I imagine it cut into her sexy time too. |

Finestra, The other one that was mad is Christine. She use to be my fav, but now I don't really have a fav anymore. Christine use to have a fun streak and was very different from the other wives. Somehow she's lost that, maybe the mad took it right out of her. Matter of fact, maybe they should focus more on the teenagers now, bring some life back onto the show. Mariah, thanks for the the facts about polygamy, I had no clue about how it was (other than creepy). No wonder Cody holds all the cards, now it makes alittle more sense (cause all the wives seems smarter than him). |

It is amazing how fundamentalist sects of mainstream religions are so heinous to women. I just finished Unorthodox by Debra Feldman and the same thing in the ultra-conservative hasidic community, look at fundamentalist muslims too. I can believe all of the woman-hate. |

I was reading that book at Barnes and Noble one day. So glad she "got out".... and having sex between a hole in a sheet ( was that in the book? or am I confusing that with another thing I read about the Hasidic community? I'm kind of fascinated by it all...) and checking with a white hanky after your period to make sure there is not ONE SPECK of blood left? Somewhere down the road about 5,000 years ago women stopped being the goddesses who were revered because they brought forth life to being shit on. (except Mr. Disco treats me like a goddess. Could be because my body looks like one of those fertility goddess figurines they dig up from 40,000BC?! :P ) |

andme, Yeah - when she was going on about how petite Truely was, that was strange. But since Christine is a queen size girl now, Truely being petite is a big thing to her. I guess she's just glad that Truely isn't like her yet???? OMG, yeah I remember the whole toaster thing..lol She had alot of standout moments back when it first started, and now she's just another wive; I blame Robin. I think if Christine can get over Robin she could come back to her old self..... |

Yeah, I agree. Robin would bug the crap out of me. When they were all saying they though Kody would love the computer, of course she had to say "I knew he wouldn't like it". |

I think Christine was one of the more militant fundamentalists in the group, until a younger version came along. Christine's daughter seems to have drank the koolaid with the whole multiple wives thing. |

If you want to know more about what they believe, this site is good. www.exmormon.org/ This opening page has a ton of links which lead to specific topics and have contributing authors, some of the best are from former missionaries talking about "lying for God." (keeping the truths of the church "secret" until after someone is baptized, and other truths from the general congregation.) Fundamentalists basically believe the same things that Mormons do. Or did. They don't believe in any of the changes the church has made since about 1900 though. That would include people of color holding the priesthood, or the (political and financial) abolishment of Polygamy, blood atonement, or the newer Word of Wisdom commandments/revelations (such as no coffee EVER.) The whole health thing used to be a guideline and is now written in concrete. I don't believe Cody and group AT ALL when they say they would be OK with one of their kids being gay, or their kids not following them into Polygamy. The first is OK as long as you never have a gay sexual experience, or if you still live as a hetero, get married, have kids, conquer your "perverse" tendancies on earth in order to be healed and accepted into heaven as a hetero. Not following the polygamist lifestyle would mean that you would never get a planet and will end up as a service angel basically (provided you do everything else right.) BUT, rejecting the word once you have received it, for both current Mormons and Fundamentalists would put you in outer darkness, the lowest level of the Celestial Kingdom. So, saying it's all cool with them whatever their kids decide is, IMO, disingenuous. I don't understand why TLC insists on a program that doesn't address their REASONS for living this way, and instead white-washes it all into a lifestyle choice. I was raised Mormon, and both sides of my family history go back to the earliest pioneers. Actually, on my father's side, it goes back almost to when the Church began. I went on a reading tangent when Big Love came on, wanting to know even more of the history, and this site was very enlightening. Books were even better, especially the first person accounts of former polygamists talking about their lives. So, if anyone is interested in going deeper (which I completely understand might not be interesting to you!) there is a start. Basically though, this show is complete fluff and BS, only interesting in what they are not showing. Also interesting that it began about the time Romney began his preliminary presidential campaign. They are members of the AUB http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostolic_United_Brethren by the way. In 1988 their prophet was murdered by members of this fundamentalist group, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ervil_LeBaron and two of the books out by former wives from that group are pretty good. http://www.amazon.com/Favorite-Wife-Escape-Polygamy-ebook/dp/B001PGX9MY http://www.amazon.com/Shattered-Dreams-ebook/dp/B004AE3NBA/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1338425365&sr=1-1 Edited by Mariah, May 30 2012, 08:49 PM.

Sorry for the downer post. I feel like I killed the thread because I have such antipathy for the whole religious polygamy thing! Actually, if it wasn't for the religious blackmail of the women in Mormon polygamy, I would have exactly NO problem with multiple wives or husbands. Sorry! I'll be quiet. |

That's just it, I don't want anyone to THINK I'm trying to stop it! :) I just have a different view of this bullshit. For example, this is about the UAB prophet, their church.
Why is TLC white washing all of this shit? Edited by Mariah, May 31 2012, 05:35 PM.
