I was so shocked that Anthony Bourdain would be involved with this show. It seemed so unlike him.

So lets get ready for the new diving show. Read in the paper today that Louie Anderson had some issues:

Quote:

If you’re ABC and you have a celebrity diving show called “Splash” and one contestant dives in and saves another, don’t you already have a winner?
That’s what reportedly happened recently when Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh dived into the pool to rescue comedian Louie Anderson, according to TMZ (see photos on tweet below). Anderson was practicing his dives when “he nearly sank to the bottom of the pool from sheer exhaustion,” TMZ reports.
Suh, who’s been fined and suspended for his antics on a football field, and former Olympic diver Greg Louganis pulled the comedian to the side of the pool, where “Louie then sat coughing up water for several seconds,” according to TMZ.

I just saw The Americans on FX. It was much better than I thought it would be, or perhaps I'm just partial to Keri Russel. Felicity can do no wrong!

I watched The Americans too, oleander, and was pleasantly surprised. I really like the cast, and Keri Russell surprised me, that she could seem so dark and fanatical and committed. I LOVED seeing the early 80s hair, makeup, and bum-flattening, high-waisted jeans, especially on Noah Emmerich's wife.

Yes, the jeans! Have you seen the SNL skit about mom jeans? It's basically the jeans they were wearing. I loved at the end when the flashlight skims over his face. Im excited there is something on to fill the American Horror Story gap.

I agree about Kerri Russel. While she'll always be Felicity in my mind, I never envisioned her in a more complex role. She did really well. And I think Phillip is hot.

Has anyone been watching House of Cards? It's the new politial-esque show that is being done by Netflix. All 13 epis are already on streaming. There is not one likeable character on that show, yet I'm addicted to it.

I recorded The Americans and watched it last night. It was much better than I expected. I thought it would be some kind of Homeland ripoff but I think the concept /story is pretty original - so far so good. I remember those days well, and the Cold War against the "Evil Empire" really amped up under the Reagan administration. FBI agents were basically free to do anything

Because I am old and actually wore those clothes at the time I admit I am still waiting for those jeans to come back in style - no one had a muffin top in those jeans and you never had to look at some girl's buttcrack everytime she bent over.

oleander, I think the SNL Mom Jeans were different - they had elastic waists, lol. No one wore jeans with elastic waists in the 80s, or at least no one I knew. Maybe Moms?

I never saw Felicity but thought Keri Russell did a good job and I'm always glad to see Margo Martindale in anything. I agree - Phillip is hot - big hair and all.

I hope The Americans gets even better - I think I am in. I was confused about whether the jeans were or weren't Mom jeans - they definitely were high-waisted but so very tight!

I grew up in the DC suburbs and remember the music played during the show during my elementary school years. Boy, you play "Harden My Heart" by Quarterflash and you can't be anywhere but the US in the early '80s.

I think the show could do some very interesting things with Elizabeth and the daughter -- that kind of trickle-down excess of the 80s, going to the mall, etc., would be so tempting for the daughter and so repellant to Elizabeth if she's repulsed by the idea of abandoning the mission and defecting. Also -- doesn't Keri look a little like Ekaterina Gordeeva? I think a part of me initially couldn't see Felicity as Russian but those women look very similar to me.

ccc I really like Person Of Interest too. It's one of my few "try to watch it" shows.

Other random things I've been watching, aside from the good stuff like Mad Men, Homeland, True Blood, and Downton Abbey.

Revenge, although my how the mighty fell this season. I have a feeling it's going to get back to it's roots of an amazing first season though, so I haven't given up on it yet.

The Chew, the best new talk show in ages. I adore the cast, Daphne Oz, Carla Hall, Michael Symon, & Mario Batali. They work so well together, and apart. It's fresh and fun and not the same old recycled promo shit that most talk shows have become. When a celeb comes on, it's to cook, not to plug something, or if there is a plug, it's brief. Carla Hall is my favorite, but they are all good.

General Hospital
, which I gave up more than a decade ago, because I fucking hate the mob and Sonny. There is hardly ANY Sonny now, and if he is on, I just don't watch. Tracy, Monica, Lucy, Heather, Luke, Anna, Duke, and a bunch of oldies are back. Laura, Blackie, and Scotty are apparently coming on too. Best of all, Todd, from OLTL is there! Oh and Caleb (the Port Charles vampire) story is also back, and I have no idea what they are going to do with that. It's not must-see, but I've been catching it here and there.

Scandal because Shonda does write compelling characters, her shows start off well, then they all start jumping over the cliffs to their deaths of complete non-believability. It started badly, picked up, and has now jumped the shark, but it's on after P of I, and funny as hell, so I usually watch it.

Mariah, I had no idea GH was still on. I was a big OLTL watcher back in the day [watching it for months then missing a year or two but keeping up with magazine recaps,] When my Mom retired about twenty years ago I got her hooked on it and she would tape it and mail weeks at time to me. She was bummed out when they cancelled it.

Does anyone watch Always Sunny in Philadelphia? I found it on Netflix and it is HILARIOUS. So many eps just leave me in stitches. Check it out if you are looking for a light 1/2 hr show.

oleander, I used to watch that show all the time and I still do when I see it or OnDemand if I am in the mood for something light and quick - far better than a sitcom [except Friends, which totally dates me but still cracks me up.] I agree Always Sunny is hilarious.

Yeah, I like Always Sunny, too.

LOL...damn, I watch everything. Workaholics, Billy on the Street, Suits, Covert Affairs, Mentalist, Cougar Town, Necessary Roughness, Call Me Fitz, Modern Family, Middle, Hawaii Five-O, Rules of Engagement, House of Lies, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, The Good Wife, Dexter, Homeland, Sons of Anarchy, Strike Back, Game of Thrones, Veep, Graham Norton, Russell Brand, Girls, Honey Boo Boo, Tosh.0, The Burn with Jeff Ross, Totally Biased, Hoarding, Park and Rec, Kathy, Hot in Cleveland, ....

And I have The Following, Hunted, and something called Enlightened taped and haven't watched yet.

I really need to watch less TV, LOL.
