Yeah, cccharley - Luther was (is?) a BBC show, and seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix. I'm on episode 3 of season 1. I will probably watch anything with Idris Elba. No, I totally will - I sat my ass down and watched that movie he made with Beyonce (!) - perhaps the worst movie I've ever seen.

oleander, I am the only person I know who hasn't watched Trapped....I told someone this summer and he was like, leave now, go home, watch it in order, and you'll thank me later. I have like an R. Kelly blockage - like, I don't want to cue it up because I feel like I'll be thinking 'you like urinating on young teens!!!' the whole time.
When Dave Chappelle was on the air, he did a whole opening skit about R Kelly's peeing. He called it "I wanna piss on you," and set it to the tune of Ignition. It was hilarious. He said R. Kelly came up to him all pissed off and was like, 'How are you gonna make a skit about pissing on people?' and Dave told him, 'How are you gonna piss on people?' it was hilarious.

Oleander, Karolina Kurkova was not the model in the tsunami, that was Petra Nemcova, also Czech.
Ah! Thank you!

Cosmo - I loved that last episode. LOL, what does that say about me?
andme, that was the first episode of Girls I really felt like I "got" so I liked it too. But usually I'm just so glad I'm not that age.

Does anyone watch Our America by Lisa Ling? I LOVE this show. Only watched piece of it tonight - it had to do with super fundamentalist Christians - there were a bit cult-like - who, I think, want to be the next Westboro Baptist search. My favorite part (though I only watched for about 15 mins) was when the group was protesting Halloween with signs on the side of the highway. I think it was the group leader, he stayed behind to bail people out of jail, if necessary. I laughed my ass off. Yeeesss, that's why I"m staying behind. Not b/c this way I don't get arrested, but this way I can bail YOU out of jail. yes, that's it.

I love Lisa Ling!

I don't watch all of them though, because some stuff, like this one, would bother me too much. I've watched others though.

I started the Americans. Liked it a lot so did dh but I cannot stand Kerri's character. I cannot route for her and wish she would get blown away. Like the dad eve though he's a killer Sometimes it makes that hard for me to watch and enjoy a show. See the I loved Mackey in the shield even though he was kinda evil. Still loved things about him. I like nothing about her character. She's flat. She does look gorgeous though. I had that figure up to two years ago. Memories

Good episodes of 'The Americans' and 'Parks and Rec' this week. 'The Americans' is such a surprise; I actually really like Keri Russell's interpretation of the character -- I think she's shown how Elizabeth was stunted by abuse during her training, by never having her own social life/love before 'marriage,' unlike Phillip. The leads are hot together, which is always nice, and the plotting is actually *good* -- a treat after 'Luther' and 'Downton Abbey.'

cccharley, if you looked (and 'look' - I'm guessing it's present tense) anything like Keri Russell, you are a lucky woman. She is gorgeous. I read the TWoP thread for the show and someone was like, I remember 1981 and no moms looked like Elizabeth. It reminded me of a bunch of blogs discussing a Geritol ad -- anyone else remember this? The ad was created 10 years before, in 1971, and all of the women are 46. Can you even IMAGINE anyone on a RH show permitting herself to age as we all used to? Some of that was probably due to the fact that women in their 40s then were kids during the Depression, but aside from that, it's so hard to imagine women truly aging on TV without enhancements, without it being somewhat socially acceptable for women to dress exactly as teens might, etc.

I don't really watch sitcoms anymore the but I've floved Parks and Rec since the beginning and thought last night's double hitter was probably the most I've enjoyed watching any sitcom since the days of Friends. I thought it was laugh out loud funny. Amy Pohler is awesome.

Cosmocrush, I teared up during the wedding. Ah, so funny yet so sweet! And of *course* Ron Swanson's tuxedo is double-breasted! Amy is really just wonderful.

What? I missed the wedding? Dang it...the last episode I saw was the disaster preparedness drill/fund-raising event.
