Very true. I have it on now with my 7 yo and her girlfriend (7) - the friend never ever heard of it nor did she see the original movie. I don't know if they'll like it.

Here is the review roundup = not great at all but not as bad as I thought it would be. Basically bashing Carrie's acting. Idiot reviewers though comparing it to the movie instead of the original b'way show. You can't do that. They are so stupid these critics. They should be ashamed of themselves because they are so culturally incorrect and this is their job.

I hate that too ccc; the stage production is very different from the movie. And even if it wasn't, judge this production on its own merits. Lazy, ill informed critics.

Oh- Dilbert, yes- that Cinderella! Yes!!!! I adored that. I think I miss theater so much because now I get there once a year rather once a month; that I got my little fix even with the snafus. Cosmo- you weren't half as negative as some of the critics, no worries :) I don't think of Carrie U as ballsy- and this was pretty ballsy as a step out of her comfort zone. I liked it and watched the whole thing. I wish they would do this more often, even if just on PBS. Jake only watched the first hour and then switched to Football.

dilbert I remember that Cinderella!!! I saw it more than once. I remember seeing it in black and white (I think we were the last family on the block to get a color TV) and the Rogers and Hamerstein songs. I think it was the first exposure I had to Cinderella so no Disney comparisons. To this day, whenever I see Lesley Ann Warren I think of that part.

Wow Cosmo, I had no idea Carrie Underwood was the same age Julie Andrews was! Duh, and thanks.

I found the DVD of LAW Cinderella. May be a bootleg bc all the other ones were like really expensive and it didn't look totally right on the top of the DVD but I was thrilled. Anyway, if I can find it and it has the ability to copy I'll make them for you guys. I searched high and low for it and found one for around 15 bucks last year. It's great and was my favorite forever. I found out it wasn't the first Cinderella they did. There was one before it that was really live and it was really black and white. Note to self - find that dvd b4 it's scratched up under a sofa somewhere

I found it - right where it should be. I was right the dvd says nothing on it but the box looks real. It has all the warnings at the beginning. Now I need to figure how to try to burn it. It's a little grainy but all most things from tv back then are on dvd.

Just a few months ago I bought a bootleg copy of the old Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie The Snow Goose. With Richard Harris and Jenny Aguitter. I adored that movie when I was a kid and had been hunting for a DVD of it for years. It was from the very early 1970s but has stuck with me all these years. Came to find out that Paul Galico, the author of the short story on which the movie was based, stipulated in his will that the movie was never to be shown again nor copied and sold in any way.
So when I saw a bootleg copy being sold by a man in England, I thought what the hell, I'll give it a try as he only wanted $20 for it and that included shipping. Figured if I never got the product, I was only out $20. Took about 6 weeks and I was just about to give up hope, when it arrived in the mail. Grainy as hell, but damn I cherish it because I can watch that movie that I have loved for so long.

Awesome Dilbert. Why would Paul do that? He's either an ass or he wanted people to read instead of watch. Then again if he wanted that he never should have given permission for it to be filmed. Therefore, I say, watch away and that's simply absurd.

Ready to find out how to make you all Cinderella copies. They used to rerun it for years and then it just stopped!

Ccc: I think I read that after the story was filmed, he decided he preferred for people to come to their own interpretation of the story rather than be influenced by the movie. Yeah, the horse had already left the barn on that one. Probably should of thought of that before he sold the rights.

Yeah Shopper there are even 2 threads for it. One for "spoilers" (those that watch on line when the English version airs) and one for USA airings of the show.
