Breaking Bad is so amazing. I wish I could afford the full season DVD set (which I think sold out in a day) but I can't. Someday...

Just checked, now only $474! Used from just under $300!

It's a real journey to watch that show, and so masterfully done and acted. It's critically important to watch from the very beginning, because these characters change and grow or revert, just like in real life. My vote is to watch that one!

BTW, I came on this show very late, when they were doing a marathon late last year. I'd tried to watch after word of mouth, popped in during season 3 I think and I HATED IT. My thoughts were "too dark, I don't want to see that!" because the particular episode was quite grim. Then I watched from the first episode and was SO hooked, couldn't wait to see the next one, etc. I don't think that show had a bad episode, and the ending didn't piss me off, it actually felt like a beautiful bow added to the wonderful wrapping paper, and the gift inside was just perfect too.

I may break my long standing policy...I'm considering buying Season 3 of Game of Thrones. I downloaded it from questionable sources last season, but really wanna get away from that. The regular DVD's are only 40 bucks pre order from Amazon.

I wish I could watch Homeland, but it's so hard to watch any of those premium cable shows if you don't have premium stations.

Mariah, can't you Netflix Breaking Bad if you are hankering for a rewatch? Mr. C watched it all along but I only started when it was almost over by recording a marathon. I think I watched all 60(?) episodes in like 3/4 weeks, lol.

ranjake, I was considering True Detective but I didn't know anything about it. I want to watch it now with your recommendation.

Shopper, I caught about 10 minutes of BS&T the other night and liked what I saw. I think I'll DVR it next week or maybe one of Bravo's endless reruns.

I'm in the minority but I watched almost three episodes of Top of the Lake last year and bagged it; I just couldn't get into it. But I'm glad Elisabeth Moss won a GG for it. I love her on Mad Men.

I don't have netflix, but there is that site, seriescravingtv.com if it's still running. I caught the ones I missed during the marathon on that. I just think the commentary would be cool. I am also cheap so only one TV has satellite, I watch DVDs on the other one. ;) I'm not that fond of watching TV shows on the computer, though I've certainly done it!

Just checked, apparently still up and running. https://www.facebook.com/SeriesCravingsTV

That's how I would watch. I have no desire to own dvds since I do not rewatch. I watch once and done. So I want to watch straight through. I also would like to do that with the wire. I figure if I ever get the flu again that's one of the shows I'll start off. I have so many dvds, tapes and the like and they are figuratively gaining dust. Too easy to watch another way for me.

Cosmo- True Detective was fascinating (though my SIL pointed out to me today that I should watch a few lighter things, that besides 'Downton ' everything I watch is "dark"). This is very dark :) I would try to explain it, but don't think I could do it justice. Woody and Matthew are playing Detective Partners, in reference to a crime when they were in their 30's and then it flashes forward to them in their 50's.

ranjake, in general the darker the better for me, lol although I do have my limits. I think that phase started with The Sopranos but I watched SATC and Friends at the same time to balance it all out.

Maybe that's why I'm such a Bravo/Real Housewives fan - it's all light and shallow so the contrast helps me break even.

ccc, I'm with you on the re-watches, with the exception of Friends reruns because they still crack me up. But I have always loved a good marathon (even before series started coming out on DVDs) The only TV series I actually own is The West Wing even though I saw it every week. I used to have the SATC series set but I gave it away years ago to a friend recouping from surgery.

I just posted about that in the BH thread Shopper!

Did anyone watch the movie lead in to When Calls the Heart on Hallmark? I kind of loved it, and the series starts soon. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/01/14/hallmark-channels-second-original-scripted-series-when-calls-the-heart-off-to-a-strong-start/229429/

Crap, I missed the first episode! http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/whencallstheheart

Saturdays, and replays on Sunday afternoon and evening.
