My daughter and I are both sick and we have been doing Scandal on Netflix. Halfway through season 2. Olivia Pope's acting has gotten better. Season 1 she was very wooden. The president is a dick so far. Love his wife. She is vicious and smart. Not nice, but hey, at least she isn't cowering while he treats her like a 2nd class citizen. It's a little too "wrapped nicely and tied up with a bow" at the end, but hey, it's fun to watch. Right now we are at the part where the Red Head (abby?) is betraying Olivia by telling the AUSA that Olivia set up the lunch meeting to throw him off the conspiracy scent. BTW - why the AUSA is involved in every DCPD crime is a mystery to me. There are DC courts aren't there? ETA - I know there is a Scandal thread - I just can't go in there until I catch up because Spoilers you know! Edited by Finestra, Jan 10 2015, 02:32 PM.

Any thoughts on Kathy G replacing Joan on Fashion Police? I thought she did a good job. |

I did too andme, and I loved that she made no attempt to BE Joan. I think she'll be more biting as time goes on, and she definitely doesn't know fashion like Joan, but I thought it was good. |

I saw it, it was just ho hum. Looks like they *are* going to be weekly. When I first heard of the replacement i thought for sure they said that it was just specials after awards. But on the sign off G said, catch us next week at our new time. |

CNN is doing a special tonight for the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Wolf Blitzer took some survivors there, and his dad's parents were both killed in the camps, he suspects it was there. As sad as it is, I'm looking forward to it. Most of the survivors were children, one (or two?) of them tonight were twins that Mengele experimented on. I just read an article on the SLC Tribune page about a 91 year old who was there. He's a very positive guy, was a teenager they used to work lumber. He was 73 pounds and 5'9" when liberated, after hiding in a sewer with 2 friends, because he didn't think he could survive the next march as Nazi's were leaving one camp for another as the allies advanced. He got to shake Eisenhower's hand. Stayed married for 62 years, a pretty amazing man. Anyway, head's up if you are interested. Also saw the clip of Spielberg who also went back for the anniversary, and a guide told him to put his hands in a recent mud puddle (from rains.) His hands came up covered in bone meal white, from the bodies of all of the dead. It was very moving. |

My friend worked on a documentary about artists who lived through the Holocaust and survived. It's called As Seen Through Their Eyes. Wonderful flick. She flew around the world to interview them and most have died off since - she worked on it for many years since it was difficult to get to them. A few are still alive. Most of the art work is incredibly upbeat. Most were children back then and tried to remember the happy days before they were shipped off. I'm crying writing this. She also worked with the Shoah foundation prior to doing the film. It's like her lifework since it took so long. You can rent it or perhaps it will be rerun on Sundance channel one day. |

Better Call Saul! Starts this Sunday. Early reviews are great. Same Producer/Showrunner as Breaking Bad. "Todd" (Jessie Plemons) is on too, but best of all, so is MIKE! (Jonathan Banks.) amc FEb 8! |

Mariah, I just don't know. As a rule I hate shows set in the not so distant past. Like 80/90s. That's why I avoided The AmeRicans initially. |

I have to give it a shot. There is just such a good team behind it, and Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks are stellar. |

Reminder! Better Call Saul starts tonight. It's got fabulous word of mouth, and it predates Breaking Bad by 6 years. Most of the crew is there (not the actors but the behind the scenes crew) and they are pretty wonderful. NPR was really positive on Fresh Air, etc. http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/better-call-saul-stars-bob-odenkirk-jonathan-banks-your-breaking-bad-dvds-will-not-be-erased http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/review-better-call-saul-a-breaking-bad-prequel-with-promise |

Schitt's Creek - Eugene Levy and Catherine O'hara Pop TV Pop, the soon-to-be-rebranded TVGN, has picked up Schitt’s Creek, the 13-episode Canadian comedy series created by and starring Eugene Levy and his son Daniel Levy. Schitt’s Creek, which marks the first original scripted series in the history of TVGN, will be part of Pop’s launch slate, joining a half dozen poplogounscripted and docu-series announced earlier this month. Schitt’s Creek, which was commissioned by Canada’s CBC in February, centers on a formerly filthy rich video store magnate Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy), his soap star wife Moira, played by Levy’s frequent on-screen partner Catherine O’Hara, and their two kids, über-hipster son David (Daniel Levy) and socialite daughter Alexis (Annie Murphy), who suddenly find themselves broke. They are forced to live in Schitt’s Creek, a small depressing town they once bought as a joke. Co-starring in the show is Chris Elliott. “It took a very special project like Schitt’s Creek to bring me back to television,” said Eugene Levy. “I’m thrilled to be reunited on-screen with my dear friend Catherine O’Hara and to have the opportunity to work with the wonderfully hilarious Chris Elliot, the up-and-coming Annie Murphy, and my son Dan, who is amazingly talented and a great partner—working together has only made ME look better.” “This show answers the question — what would the Kardashians do if they woke up one day, completely broke?,” said Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment and Media, POP. “Not only is this project a clever cultural commentary where the 1 percent is suddenly the 99, but it fits right in the heart of everything we’re building at our new network. It’s a dream cast, it’s hysterically funny, and it’s sure to pop.” Schitt’s Creek, produced by Not A Real Company Productions, will premiere on POP and CBC in early 2015. (CBC has announced the premiere date as January 13.) Eugene Levy, Daniel Levy, Andrew Barnsley, Fred Levy and Anonymous Content’s Ben Feigin executive produce. It's on POP tv, 273 on DirectTV tonight at 9PM, Monday at 5:30 PST. Oscars tonight...but I want to try this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=W0uWS6CnC2o Edited by Mariah, Feb 22 2015, 02:14 PM.

TMZ has learned. Multiple sources connected with the show tell us ... producers and Kelly were at odds even before the Giuliana Rancic showdown, where Kelly threatened to quit unless Giuliana apologized over her comments about Zendaya on the red carpet at the Oscars. We're told the tension started over the first episode the cast taped without Joan Rivers. Kelly was unhappy with the way the show was being produced. Producers, we're told, were "up to here" with Kelly so the handwriting was on the wall. Sources tells us Kelly walked Friday.
