NOTE, UNTAGGED SPOILERS BELOW, DON'T READ ANY MORE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! :o , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Aren't you watching on line now? :D ? I was really sad about Sybil's death, I always liked her. It was really well done with her parent's estrangement too. I love her ex, and love that he is now the estate manager. I think they had to tack Mathew's death on at the very end, and it was much less satisfying, still, sappy me is glad he produced an heir and got to hold his son. I kind of love the other daughter's involvement with the married guy. The Scotland house was quite a revelation too, so manly and war-like. They must have grabbed a real Scottish great house for that as well, right? The decorations with guns and swords surprised me. I loved the light and the scenery though--really lovely. The new sex-pot girl, what is her name? She should add a lot to season 4. Edited by Mariah, Jan 11 2013, 05:14 PM.

I watched episode 3 (poor Lady Edith). And then it was time for Jake to come home from school- so it's time for me to be an actual good Mom :) (I've been selfish- not cognizant enough that this amazingly smart autistic Boy lost his Dad and his house and needed a BREAK :( But when he goes to bed at 10- I'm back on Downton like/ WHAT did Ramona say? Rice on white??? lol I am SAD about Matthew AND Lady Sybil (haven't seen yet- but had read). and was incredibly sad for Lady Edith being left at the altar! But I LOVE the actor who was Edith's fiancee- he just touches me in some weird ay- and also he's so familiar to me. Sybil has become (maybe always was) a secondary character to me- but I think it will be especially hard for me to lose Matthew. Not just with Lady Mary- but I love his relationship with Earl Grantham (I've been a Hugh Bonneville fan for YEARS). Did I tell you I LOVE Downton? Do any of you have the books? I've read "Lady Almina and the real Downton Abbey"- and it'sd good but not really Downton- I'm talking about the companion books. Spoil me more- PLEASE! |

Ok, so in the Christmas special, Edith has had the job with the magazine and is clearly in love with the editor with the crazy (institutionalized insane) wife. What the fuck are they really going to do with that? Edith is going to agree to have a relationship without marriage? I know that she put the moves on the farmer last season but she has to know that her father is NOT going to put up with this. I want to know why Anna isn't pregnant. Sibyl got married - BAM! Baby. Mary got married, had some trouble, consulted a doc, and BAM! pregnant. Is Bates sterile? They're clearly getting down and dirty as often as possible but geez. It bugs. I need Daisy to grow the fuck up. Her jealousy over whether the footman like her or Ivy better really grates. You've worked at Downton for EIGHT YEARS. You're better than this. She should take her father-in-law up on his offer for the farm, move out of Downton, learn farming, meet a nice man, and shut up already. Glad they finally wrapped up the Ethel line. Bored with that. Yes, I realize that we have to have at least one fallen woman to show the desperate plight of single mothers of the time period. But really. Done with that, thanks. Really glad Mrs. Hughes did not have breast cancer. That would have been more death than I could take this season. |

I just read that Ethel will return in Season 4, not for the whole season, but for a few episodes. Why I say, why? In season 4, I'd love to see more of Edith in London. It could show the city's social changes. I'd love to see her marry someone rich, and set up a salon in London. Dump the married publisher plot, it's boring. Thomas, the gay footman, rehabs his image in season three. He saves the blond downstairs guy Jimmy from being beaten up after the Downton staff won a tug of war against a group of townies at a fair. Oh, there is a funny subplot with Mrs. Patmore and the new butcher. He pretends to be interested in her, but he really only likes her cooking. She has a few touching scenes, she's a good actress. She and Mrs. Hughes have a talk.................great scene. |

That cook actress is coming on another popular show Spoiler: click to toggle I don't mind Ethyl. Mr Bates may very well be sterile, he didn't have any kids with his first wife either. He is also older, and men's sperm counts do diminish with age, even though we see a lot of even older men popping out children. I like the new flapper wild child, (WHAT is her name?) maybe she could teach Edith to let loose and have some sex and fun. The story with the doomed married man who can't divorce his wife, is very Jane Eyre. I'm more interested in what they will do with Anna. |

Oh, Bates does one good thing. He shuts up O'Brien who has been plotting to get rid of Thomas. He whispers something in her ear. I had almost forgotten that O'Brien put the soap bar in front of Cora's bathtub in Series One because she erroneously thought she was being replaced. Cora slipped and lost the baby (a potential heir). I think O'Brien told Thomas who somehow told Bates, I forget when. Anyway, O'Brien is effectively shut up when Bates reminds her. O'B is another wonderful actress. Rumor has it that she is not in Series 4, she goes off to India with the disagreeable woman who is the host of the week at the country estate, Phoebe Nicholls (another wonderful actress). They kind of set this up at the end of series three. |

I don't think Bates knows WHY the bar of soap is important. I could be wrong but Bates figures out that O'Brien is behind it all, and then asks Thomas for any dirt on O'Brien that will get her to stop. Thomas whispers in his ear, but we don't hear it. Later we hear Bates telling his wife that Thomas told him to mention "bar of soap" to her, but he had no idea why. Thomas and O'Brien are such shits, yet I find myself rooting for them. Nice writing and acting to do that. |

I only have the series finale and the special to finish- that site has been WONDERFUL Momo! Surprise-surprise- I've been blown away :) Just cried thru basically EVERYTHING- and Thomas in the last episode I saw with Mrs. Hughes :( I just think the third season is brilliant. I had tears just splashing down on my pillow in the episodes of Sybil passing and after. I just think this season has been wonderfully done. Will be watching over and over... |

Credit to Sucks. I do wonder about the whole legality thing though, how does that work? No alarms with my various Malware and Virus programs though, AND they even have a Facebook site. |
