Hey - I thought we had a thread for Mad Men? I can't find it. It has a 2 hour premiere on April 7!

Here are some pics from the new season (season 6) http://www.businessinsider.com/mad-men-season-6-black-and-white-photos-2013-1

Yay!

It's my new favorite show, since I came to it late. I adore their DVD sets, crammed full with extras, more than I've ever seen on any DVDs and all interesting.

Ads started last night for the premiere = can't wait to have Don back to real Don - well I think he will be if the ending bar scene was any indication

Can't wait - so glad there are a dumb award show on on and a rerun of Revenge. Got nothing to tape. I hope I can make it through till 11 but if not I'll catch the 2nd half tomorrow. Definitely watching at 9. I usually dvr bc I hate all the commercials and it flows so much better without them. Tonight though it's live Don time.

I thought it was kind of disturbing and pretty gutsy to open a season with so much darkness and a basic theme of death.

I love this show, they never go where you think they will, and each season takes on it's own tone. 1968, when things start to get real, and it looks like they are going there.

Oh Don, sleeping with your friend the doctor's WIFE? He really is a mess.

Loved the Betty in the city scenes, and Peggy being BOSS, and many others...but it did seem slow in spots, probably because it was so long, and humorous moments were almost non-existent.

I have a feeling it's going to be an interesting ride this year.

ugh didn't finish it. Not coming to this thread until I finish the episode. Everyone should be able to post about it when they want. My mistake. Now I need to keep my mouth shut when I watch the last 40 minutes.

I didn't know Miss Allie was still writing for NPR: http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2013/04/08/176570735/death-and-dyeing-five-thoughts-about-the-return-of-mad-men

Really good review: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/04/07/mad-men-season-premiere-matthew-weiner-on-the-the-doorway-more.html

"I had an experience" is how a certain character may or may not put it on Sunday night,6 and it perfectly captures the unfettered, pure id weirdness that has overtaken Mad Men. Everything that occurs in the premiere feels at once natural and unexpected, hilarious and haunting. It's this unpredictable dream logic that has rocketed the show to creative heights unparalleled in the history of television.

I'm loving reading the reviews, some really didn't seem to "get" it, and at first, I didn't feel like I did either. Now, a day later, after some thinking, I really love this show. It takes it's time, and it sets things and tones of the time up so well, no rushing.

Was this my favorite episode? No. It was shocking in it's way, and different though, and it really makes me want to see the rest of the season.

Will Betty go join the Manson gang? She worked for and got her perfect and expected life, TWICE, both times with older husbands, but now she's still not happy. She feels like she's missing all of it, and she's trying to understand the vast changes taking place while she sits in the suburbs leading a fifties lifestyle and bored as hell with it, and probably with herself. I think I'm most interested in where she may go in this series.

How could Don DO that to his friend? I completely understand him cheating on his wife, but it feels so much worse when it's his admired friend.

I do want Peggy and Don back together in some way, and I missed Joan, it was funny that Peggy is now friends with the "let's get liberated!" guy, and the former cut throat competitor, Peggy's new boss went off to meditate or whatever it was.

First reaction was "wow" but in a bewildered way, the more I think about it though, the more I like it.

Is anyone else watching????

I actually don't like Peggy acting too bossy. I am very happy for her success but I don't want her acting like a bossy man. She is still a woman. I guess I never liked any of my female bosses and she's turning into some of them.

This is the free love period. Everyone slept with everyone. We're going into the 70s. Maybe Betty will smoke a big old joint herself and see the light. Who knows? Don screws everyone in sight. He has no morals in that sense and never did. I totally can see it although I haven't seen the scene yet.

Mariah - you get to watch it early. After 10 here on the east coast we start to nod off and I miss too much. We usually watch it the next day at 8 so we can take it in.

These guys usually have the best MM blogs Tom and Lorenzo. They analyze the fashion too
