I do Photoshop contests and I chose Don/Jon as the subject for one of my entries:

So I went back to listen to the song of the week and I found some of my favorite comments of MM for the week - just little mentions which cracked me up. A couple of interesting ones though. I think I'll read youtube these days. I was getting ready for tonight's episode which of course I won't watch until tomorrow. Here is the one with the cool comments - I think at least - groovy I mean

Glad to be of service. So I put on the Hair album today and didn't realize it was 1968. Wonder if anyone in the cast will go and if it will be mentioned - or be one of my songs of the week. The anti war movement is coming in now big time. I love the show and and MM. I realized how sad I'm going to be when the show ends.

They already mentioned Hair, 1st or 2nd episode I think, can't remember the context though, some one went, or someone said something about naked people.

lol - I need to listen more closely. I said to my husband they'd probably mention the naked people. Oops. I never rewatch the episodes so I miss stuff. Thanks I won't wait for it.

WOW.

The dark side of the sixties is now in full force. Most of the office speeding was creepy as hell, aw, memories.

I was actually scared for Sally and the kids when the robber was there. (Also, that actress just nailed that whole thing.)

Did Don actually turn a corner there at the end though? When he told Ted "every time there is a car ad, this place turns into a whore house, I'm out" or whatever the words were, it was almost like Don finally made some progress. He didn't even try to talk with Sylvia in that elevator after stalking her shamefully before his epiphany.

What a fucked up childhood, although the mole and head scarf stuff was a little heavy handed for a show that is normally a bit more subtle.

So the hippy chick with the I Ching was the dead guy's daughter? She looked just like my sister in 1968, which was kind of freaky.

Loved Sally wearing the mini skirt, and reading Rosemary's Baby!

Glad to see Betty finally cleaning up her act and getting back to skinny and blond since her husband wants to let the public see the real her. Looks like that was enough motivation for Betty.

The first time I watched this one I kind of hated it and had no idea what the hell was going on. After watching it again, and that time paying closer attention, I think it was a hell of an episode.

Ted's tap dance... :D It was trending on twitter.

Ted's tap dance was a highlight -- otherwise it was some freaky episode.

I was terrified when that woman came in the apartment. Sally should have called the doorman.

Dawn is worth her weight in gold.

That was Ken Cosgrove with the dance, love him and wish they'd use him more.

I loved the episode, gave everyone a chance to shine (except Slattery, I was waiting for his reaction to Dr. Feelgood and never got it).

Looks as if Megan will drift away from Don on her own.

No wonder Don is so mixed up about sex. Look at his background. I wish they'd get a "young Don" who looks a bit more like adult Don.

Who knows the end results, Weiner seems to change course every week. Maybe Don did have an epiphany and is on a higher road. He seems to have come to good resolutions re work, Dr. Feelgood, Sylvia, and maybe his kids. Or he will be drunk and dissolute again next week.

I loved "Words of Love."

Oh they used words of love by m and p last night! One of my favorites. Love all their stuff and have the greatest hits of course. I haven't even watched yet and I ruined my surprise.

Yeah, ccc, loved that song. But it brought back memories of Mama Cass choking on her sandwich. What a great voice she had.

That's a myth - she didn't choke on a ham sandwich - she didn't even eat ham. Her daughter said since she was jewish she didn't eat pig. I think it was a heart attack. I remember that rumor well though! What a voice she had - her and Grace Slick.

That was a departure for the series! I don't love it now, but it depends where they go with the rest of the episodes this season. I thought Don and his history with the whorehouse was a bit heavy-handed. Agree, Weaver, they could have found a young actor who looked more like Don.

Superficial question - I think Peggy and Megan were not wearing pantyhose in most of the episode. Was that common at the time? Especially for Peggy at the office? I have a picture of me and my mom from 1968 - she was wearing a similar dress to Megan's (though not quite as short!) and I am sure she was wearing hose.

Choked on her own vomit, supposedly.

As for pantyhose, I'm surprised they didn't have any on. My TV is too crummy to tell. I don't know when pantyhose came into universal usage as opposed to "nylons" with girdles or garterbelts. But certainly there was no such thing as no stockings at all!

Plus they have the Topaz account! So freebies for all in the office, I'd assume.

It was very uncommon to not wear pantyhose unless you were dressed in hippy clothes or actually, you know, a hippy.
I'd say unheard of really, but pantyhose were almost skin like by that time, new materials from the old "hose," and first pantyhose.

Actually ccc, you might even like the episode more being spoiled. The first time I watched I just sat there wondering what the hell was going on, and not in a necessarily good way. I liked the show MUCH more on subsequently watching, catching all of it, or most of it. Can't wait to read the Huff post and the other reviewer I like to see what I missed.

Dr. Feelgood really did used to make office visits, and not just to President Kennedy, so this stuff actually happened. What was his name Jacoby or something? Wasn't he later arrested? Ah, speed... Oh and back then "diet pills" were amphetamine and legal as well, for a little while longer. I wonder if that helped Betty get camera ready for the campaign?

If Frank's daughter doesn't end up with Manson I'll be shocked.

Like a lot of Mad Men episodes, “The Crash” needs to be seen twice — not to unlock any subtleties of structure or tone, but to get over the idea that it’s really “about” much of anything.
I SO agree with this opening!

Maybe others are brighter than I am, but I really didn't like it the first time, and by the third time, I fell in love with this episode.
