I thought it was just "Lost Weekend" really. Losing time, losing faith, losing your mind, losing your virginity, losing friends (the guy who died), losing reality.

There was a moment I still cannot fathom -- when Don was coming down the stairs and saw Peggy comforting someone and then that secretary closed her door and Don was obsessed with the secretary suddenly. What was that?

I skipped a bunch of comments because I actually do like to watch myself and form my own opinions.

Very interesting how no matter how all of us view the episodes it certainly starts a conversation. I will miss it considering all the other crap on TV. Even a bad episode is far superior than most of the rest. I always have a satisfying hour - or 45 minutes w/o commercials.

Peggy was comforting Chaough. Don was coughing. For some reason the secretary made him remember the nice prostitute who took care of him when he was coughing as a child, don't know why.

Of course the secretary closed the door on Chaough and Peggy and this might have reminded Don of the prostitutes closing the door when they had a client.

I love reading what others say about this show because they catch things I miss. It's another reason I love the DVDs so much, there is never a single thing on screen that doesn't add to the story. I haven't paid this much attention when I watch a show in years. The writers and actors make it worth it to me--there is always another layer, even better than the first, and when they all join together, I feel like something special just happened.

Me too - I just want to watch first myself. So who is going to Woodstock on the show? Stan has to go right?

http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/review-mad-men-the-crash-need-for-speed One of the most thoughtful reviewers out there, along with that Maureen person from Huffington post, but I think she said her recap would be late this week.

Woodstock doesn't happen until August of '69...a lot could happen before then.

I love reading what you all write, and I love reading all the reviews and recaps, too. You are all so articulate- but I don't even know why- or how to explain- how this show just resonates so deeply with me.

Off the wall interpretation, or is this recapper on to something.

I agree ranjake, this show does that to me too, on so many levels.

I made it a point to catch up so I could participate here. Usually I wait till the season is over and watch them all at once, one after another like a bag of potato chips. ;)

The recaps this time are all over the board, which is fun. Some are doing a pretty superficial recap and really caught nothing, others are finding things I never thought of. I am really looking forward to listening to the DVD commentaries on this one. That last link recapper caught things I didn't even SEE. Especially the William Tell / Deerhunter overtones for the guy who lost his cousin in Vietnam.

I know what you mean Icy, I watch my DVD's fairly often...I've decided the one part I hated was Don and the School-teacher, mostly because it didn't really resolve. He left her to try to fix things with Betty since Betty was pregnant, but when Betty divorced him he didn't even TRY to contact her. I guess Don just moved on, but it felt hollow, even if it did allow him to finally make up to her brother what he couldn't do for his own. I felt so bad for the epileptic brother--no hope, no pulling himself up by bootstraps, just a miserable life.

Another interesting take: http://collider.com/mad-men-season-6-episode-8-recap/

I know when Woodstock was - I just was making a conversation - a fun one I thought. Anyway, not done yet but I will say Dr. Roberts had some sick stuff in there.

I'll read some recaps tomorrow - I loved the episode. Everything had two meanings - trippy man. Earlier version of another M and P hit and I think a Shirley Bassey song (the one on the radio) Could be wrong on the singer.

lol- that's how I watched the first season but I had a stomach virus. I watched 13 episodes straight in bed in the dark on demand but with no food.

Okay I'm going to add this since I mentioned Dr. Robert but it appears that all these reviews spoke of Dr. Max Jacobson. I think I may be right - here is Dr. Robert's description - on may I say one of my favorite Beatles albums -Revolver. Or it could have a composite of all them. Did they say a particular name on the show or say he didn't have a license? Robert lost his license for awhile during the 2nd half of 1968. Then fully in the 70s as did Max.

The real Doctor Feelgood was most likely Dr. Robert Freymann, a Manhattan physician known to New York's artists and well-to-do for his vitamin B-12 injections, which also featured liberal doses of amphetamine. Freymann, who signed Charlie Parker's death certificate in 1955 (estimating the saxophonist's addiction-ravaged 34-year-old body to be between 50 and 60), bragged that he could rattle off 100 names of his celebrity patients (reportedly included Jackie Kennedy) in 10 minutes.

So Don gave Sylvia the ultimate snub at the end - not allowing the "lady" to exit the elevator first. He pushed right passed her.
