This kind of bores me, but apparently many find the fashion and color stuff quite interesting, so I thought I'd put it here.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/bastard-machine/mad-men-understands-better-558875 this one was pretty good.

I was pick-pocketed once. A big black woman got off the subway train as I was getting on. She was abrupt, like she made up her mind at the last second and stumbled into me. I realized after the doors closed that she'd grabbed my change purse that was in my (gaping) front pocket. It took me a few weeks to get over it, really. I was doing a musical at the time and backstage I just started to cry.

I was also nearly killed by a homeless man. He wanted change and I ignored him and walked by, stopped on the corner (57th & Broadway, by Coliseum Books) waiting for the light to change and he came up behind me and pushed me in anger. I didn't fall forward, but if I had I'd have been run over by the bus that was going by, within inches of me. I went up to my office (Fisk Building) and called the police who came and arrested him.

But I LOVE NYC. LOVE IT.

I think the funniest idea I got from those reviews? That Bob B is a metaphor character for Jesus Christ, walking amongst the people helping them. I also enjoyed someone pointing out that breaking off a relationship can feel like a knife to the gut ... which is what happened. Cool.

I enjoyed some of the pictures from Tom and Lorenzo -- showing motifs, but they are hard to read as they're too verbose.

Icy, what review was that? Also, does anyone remember who that wonderful guy reviewer is for this show? When I eventually stumble over his reviews I just love them...but I can't remember his name!

Yeah, I had a movie-quality two days in NY, it was surreal. Even then, I probably would have liked it had I stayed longer, or even if I hadn't JUST moved back to the mainland. It would be hard to find two places in the USA more different than Hanalei Kauai and NYC.

You see Icy - you were a double - most I know who were mugged and even one who was raped (I can barely say that out loud) remained in the city and are still here. They are tough. It sucks though. Glad they cleaned the city up - not glad they made part of it like Disney.

I think BB is weird. Never though of him like JC. I see him as quite creepy and as many have said a young Don= however I do not see the charm in him like Don. I think he is totally out for himself and one who takes advantage of everything that comes upon him to move ahead.

Tom and Lorenzo thought he may be gay. I didn't read the style blog - just the regular one.

Inside the episode. I can't get the video to play on the Mad Men AMC site (which is not bad by the way) but they have a You Tube of all the videos.

Thanks for all the links, Mariah! I can't get enough!

BTW: we eat margarine, always have .... because it's cheaper. But now, we prefer the taste. ;)

Just watched the episode. It brought so much to consider - the writers put so much in. Peggy and Ted, Don and Betty and Megan, and Peggy and Abe.

I love the new clothes and looks on the women. Amazing.

Off the topic of Mad Men -

I grew up right outside NYC and rode the bus there from a young age. I started meeting friends in the city in the early 80s when I was a young teen. The early 80s were barely better than the 70s. I had to take the bus to Port Authority and lie to my parents - they thought I was being met at that station - but I walked the blocks to Grand Central by myself. I was groped and propositioned - it was a really bad area at that time - but I made it through.

In high school we would just leave/cut school and pay the $3.35 bus fare to NY to hang out. I kept running into people I knew in the Village and Washington Park areas.

It was dirty, though. I'm sure it still is. There is just dirt in the air that settles on your face, IMO.

Back to Mad Men - I love Pete. We haven't seen much of him lately!

1981 was the garbage strike in NYC. I think that was when it was really gross and dirty. It was always awful up at Port Authority. I never went near there. I still don't like it and only go if I need to take a bus to a concert at the Meadowlands.

Yeah, even when I was last there in 2008 the Port Authority area sucked.

I think there was a garbage strike in 1968 too, wasn't there? Googled, yup, I think they gave it a passing-by mention on the show. http://www.workers.org/2011/us/1968_sanitation_workers_0113/

For me it was these whitish grey slimy blobs all over the sidewalks that just gave me the shivers.

Dang my friend is out of cell phone range apparently, and now I'm so curious about where that apartment was. Hopefully she'll be back in a few days.

Wow. I think my prediction of someone joining the Manson family is going to play out. I thought it would be the runaway Betty searched for early in the season, but it could also be Ted's partner's daughter now.

Was Sharon Tate married to Roman Polanski when she was murdered, or was it just his baby?

I think it turned Roman for life. It was a horror. Go rent Helter Skelter or read the book by the detective who worked on the case. It's riveting. So sad. Can't believe Manson is still alive and hasn't been killed in prison.
