Ugh, still haven't gotten to watch all of it. The satellite signal was disrupted Sunday night so it only partially recorded. So I set it to record a later showing and when I went to watch it I realized I was really confused because I had no idea who certain people were. Somehow it started recording like 45 minutes into the show, which makes no sense since it started on time and recorded for 2 hours. WTF? I set it to record AGAIN and we'll see if the third time's the charm. |

It seemed to last a bit over 2 hours. Just checked. It's on (my time, which is ECT on this show I think) tonight from 7:30 until 9:38. Can you just set it to record from 7-10 so you know you get it all? There ARE new characters, but some of the old ones look quite different, beards, longer hair, sideburns--sign of the times. |

I looked up an episode summary on wiki and I really think my DVR started recording 45 min in. I knew the recording started like it just jumped right in but I thought maybe I'd only missed the first minute or so. The good news is that AMC reruns its shows a zillion times so I'll be able to catch it at some point. |

The very beginning is a voice over from Don, while laying on the Waikiki beach just outside of my favorite hotel, The Royal Hawaiian. It's a quote from Dante's Inferno. After that, more beach scenes, Hawaiian dancing, luau, and Don doesn't speak at all for the first 8 minutes. |

The DVR taped right. It said it was 2.08 on TW. It was the American's that screwed up. Actually it was only one scene and that was it. I had to watch 4 anti smoking commercials to get to the point where the DVR cut off on the FX site - why didn't they just post the last scene in a clip? Pain in the butt. I still haven't watched the last 40 min of MM yet. I'll do that tonight.

FX messes up on The American's too, my guide says it's on at 7, but it was on a 6. These shows going over mess with everyone that records I think. I think FX did have a good video up for a week, and you could FF to the end well, at least that's what I heard. That channel needs to get it together. JMO, but Mad Men this week was more of a feeling, and not "what happens." So, that said, watching it in pieces may not have the same feel as just watching it all the way through from beginning to end. Kind of like Abbey Road, the album had great songs, but when you listen to it from beginning to end, it takes you on a journey and leaves you with strong feelings. What I saw started with Peggy in an office arguing with someone who wanted something changed in a Super Bowl ad because of the wording and something to do with Vietnam. Is this going to be a weekly thing, the show starting later than it's supposed to? That happens every week with The Good Wife due to football and basketball and who knows what else. I'm at the point that I've set it to record for an extra hour every week because I'm sick and tired of hunting around the internet to find the show so I can watch the last 15 freaking minutes. Every stinking week! |

I don't think so, this was a very long 2 hour + premier. Wow, you missed a lot if that's where you started. It seems like Peggy didn't show up for quite a while. They had an ad for headphones out, "Lend me your ear" Caesar style. Then a story hit about US soldiers wearing Viet Cong ears as necklaces, so the headphones guy wanted the ad changed. LOL I know, I watched for awhile until I realized I had no idea WTF was going on and I thought I had to have missed more than a few minutes. |

Yeah, maybe a 1/2 hour? Even when I watched from the beginning I wasn't sure I knew what was going on. Afterward, and after thinking about it, I thought it was pretty powerful. During? Lost, annoyed at times, and in an almost constant state of WTF. Now though, I realize that, IMO, it was meant to be felt more than figured out as a show. There were some really excellent reviews out there, but I hope they re-air it for anyone that missed it, or it's on-line, because I'm pretty sure it was meant to set the tone for the season, and if so? It's going to be a ride. Just checked, they are airing it again Friday Night. 7:30 my time, which I think is EST. Edited by Mariah, Apr 10 2013, 09:40 PM.

I finally finished. Very well done episode. Don still has mother issues. His affair obviously has been going on for some time which is really not surprising since the last season's ending alluded to him going straying. He feels guilt for this one because of the dr. though not his wife surprisingly - well I think. Loved the line we do anything to alleviate the stress and then we see him in bed with her. Perfect segway |

Guess you were correct Weaver. There were some really gross things down there. They should hire you - and me. We'd have fun. |

I finally got to watch. I was disappointed there wasn't much Joan. Who is the girl that was supposed to be going to Julliard? Did I miss the explanation of how she ended up at Betty's? |
