I don't like how Joan is treating Don. He has had her back in the past and she has taken it too far. I guess she really wants the big bucks and used her body to get it going back to the old roger days and getting gifts for sex. Don't like it or right now though although she looks stunning

As I was watching on Sunday I noticed that Peggy and Don were drinking Old Style beer, made in my hometown. They also made Special Export. The brewery went bust after an Australian businessman bough them out, but investors from my town re opened the brewery, it's the same beer/different name.

And again, since I am 1/2 Amish, I can't figure out how to post the picture itself. ;)

I had to watch parts of the episode again. And I watched Burt's final number three times! The choreography, I think, was a take-off of his dancing in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Just loved it and cried.

It was, a bit. Someone did side by side gifs. The interviews with him are just SO sweet, he's so astonished that everyone is calling, and that the NY Times wanted a story, and Vanity Fair, Variety. I just love it, and I loved it in the show as well. SO cool!

It's probably in one of those links I posted, or try googling side by side Robert Morse Mad Men and How to Succeed.

I can't find the gif, but here is him Singing Brotherhood of Man. I loved him in
A Guide for the Married Man too.

Here's "A Secretary is Not a Toy!"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIw86LC9ugo

In one of those interviews with him he said stepping on the set was like stepping back in time for him, and he burst into this song the first time they said cut in the office setting.

I'm so glad I went to look for that. Thanks Icy! Even though I didn't find it, I just found the complete book of Mormon stage production, not a great video, but not bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsQGJK6wjZo I ran across one for WICKED too, so I'll watch that one tomorrow. I had no idea they would have those on YOU TUBE, and were are exactly theater central here on the coast.

I used to buy audience videos of Bway shows … a lot. I have some really great ones that I treasure. The woman who made them was really good and really bold! My brother said you can watch SPAMALOT from Bway via YouTube, too.

But the best story? I bought a copy of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA from the original cast, featuring Michael Crawford. Terrible video. But back in 1988 I was a nanny, just came to NYC with the family, and my brother (he was 19, I was 24) came to visit me. He desperately wanted to see MC as the Phantom and so I sent him there to get a ticket and he came back and said that MC was leaving that Saturday (this was Thursday) and that he'd been sick all week so had not performed and there was already a line of people who were waiting for his return -- camping out! So he went to camp out with them and when I got off work I joined him. We stood in line all Friday into Saturday and were told MC would be performing in the matinee and the evening show, so we took tickets to the matinee, standing room only, but we were lied to -- he didn't perform until that night. My brother was SO pissed at me, because I bought the lie first. In any case, middle of the night waiting, blankets and camaraderie going, MC's real estate broker (fuck buddy) came to video interview us as to WHY it mattered so much to us to see Michael. She went down the line and we all said "get better, Michael!" etc. … it was for him, she said.

Cut to years later, watching this dreadful audience video of MC in Phantom, shot from the back balcony … it ends … and a short homemade video starts - YES! The video with me and my brother and a guy who later had become a good friend of mine, when we realized we'd both been in that line and remembered singing together -- and this was easily 15 years later!

So … that's my story. ;)

Aw...that's cool. I enjoyed the Book of Mormon.

At least in San Francisco we got touring companies. I miss plays, and the Opera so very much.

Great story Icy. I'm taking dd for her bday celebration to Wicked with 3 of her friends bc she got - drum roll $50 tix through the actors fund special show on a Friday afternoon in July. I was surprised they gave us 6 tix at that price but now I wish I bought a couple more. I had seen it already way back in the day. They reserved the entire center orchestra for actors. She's not a member but was able to get the young performer price. She is so excited but keeps inviting other kids for which I have no tix. I am going to have some talk with her thigh weekend. I was almost crying that I couldn't take all her friends but most of them are in camp anyway bc she invited someone I don't have a ticket for.. UGH.

Never did get to see Phantom. Heard it's awesome and MC was amazing.

Oh, the other part of that story is that we went and hung out at the stage door after the final performance (and multiple speeches) and Michael Crawford walked through like he was a GOD. Didn't look left or right or wave to the 100s who were waiting -- just left. I "left" him then. Not a fan. Actually, I didn't ever think he was so incredible. Sarah Brightman? Unbelievable. I'm still a fan of hers.

But then MC toured with it and we all got to see him in LA about a year later. Or maybe it was just four months later. The family I worked for went back and forth between LA and NYC, so at that time we were in LA and my family just drove down from the Northcoast and we all saw it. I love the show, even if it is all things awful as many theater people believe.

CCC, I'm so happy for DD that she gets to invite friends. (I never saw WICKED. Bought the CD, read the book, couldn't bring myself to see the Bdwy show.)

Kind of fun to see them together in real life. Sally is so tall! Peggy is so much cuter without the Mad Men look.

Joan is just gorgeous, and Sally looks just like Hermione from Harry Potter.
