A friend posted "Ted McGinley on Mad Men, is this a sign that it's over?" ... and I didn't recognize Ted as anyone on the shows, so just checked at imdb and found this:

Ted McGinley May Have Cursed 'Mad Men' Last Night
22 April 2013 8:59 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Matt Weiner seems to be more into risk-taking than ever this season: Ted McGinley was on "Mad Men" last night.

The man known as "the patron saint of shark-jumping" -- he appeared on several shows including "Dynasty," "Sports Night," "Charlie Lawrence" and more shortly before their cancellation -- appeared on the Sunday, April 21 episode of the AMC drama as Mel, a writer on "To Have And To Hold," who wanted to swing with Don and Megan.

"Mad Men" viewers immediately took to Twitter to express their concern over McGinley's appearance ... though next season is said to be the show's last anyway.

That's so silly. I think he was on Bway this year in Glengarry and got better reviews than Pacino. I think MM is ending soon anyway. It's one of those shows that I think had a certain number of seasons from the start.

Mariah I know it's just business with Peggy but she made a face and knows that it's over - her friendship and everything. She used it to pitch and now she has one less ally.

I know. I just think there is a huge double standard about what men do and what women do in business. Aside from that, she didn't deliberately spill the information (which, in my opinion, she SHOULD have) she had been at work for MANY hours, was punchy, was caught by surprise, and even then tried to talk her boss out of it. I was more disappointed that she didn't think of it herself the MOMENT her friend mentioned it.

"Shark" defining a man is a good thing, but defining a woman is derogatory. As someone who has spent most of her life in management, much of it while I was the only woman in that position, I'm sensitive to that crap. Advertising in particular was dog-eat-dog and completely competitive, that account would be huge, and to not go after it because you heard the tip from a (stupid) friend would be so dumb, in a business sense.

She's not trying to be nice person of the year here, she's ONE female in a dog-eat-dog world, and if she uses ladylike rules her competitors, the men, would never dream of using, she won't have much of a career.

She may have deliberately done it. I'm not too sure about that.

Nah, I really don't think she did.

Sorry if I sound vehement about that whole man/woman in business thing back then, but yeah, been there, done that. There was no "right" way for a woman to behave back then, damned if you do, damned if you don't. In some ways, it's still true today, but a bit less. Also, the only role models back then WERE men, very few women in management. Peggy's plowing new ground here, and the plow is bound to get away from her at times.

If she's not demanding enough with her crew, they WILL walk all over her because she is just a woman. Her people skills suck, but the only boss she's ever had used those on her, and they were an incredibly productive team. Her biggest beef with Don is that he didn't give her enough credit, and he even explained that to her. She's used to long hours, and she's very ambitious and wants people like her on her creative team. When she brought shit to Don, he never sugar-coated it. When she told them that their "3 ideas" were ONE idea with different wording, she was right.

I bet no one ever left crotch-itch powder on Don's desk.

If the show lasts long enough, Peggy will probably find her own way, but she's only been in this job for a few months.

Only half way through and I'm just wow'd by how they are handling MLK's death so far. Betty! Having Don drive the kids through the riots...hope they are all OK.

ETA

It was sad hearing about Dr. Kings death again in a "current" way. This show is bringing back so many feelings. I was just crushed when he was murdered, felt all hope drain from the world at that moment.

I'm watching tonight - I can't concentrate at 10 - I get too tired. I'll discuss tomorrow. Almost always watch it DVR at 8pm the next day. Then no commercials either. I am enjoying this season but I liked all of them.

I watched- thought it was amazing as usual. But remember- I skipped all of Season 5 and just caught up- so it's my new/old obsession. I'm trying to say it's new to me all over again- and I had forgotten how much I loved it. And I love it now...

(and I have a feeling I'm getting Seasons 1-5 on DVD for Mother's day- I hope :)
