I know, but if I'm not going there for the GoT's spoiler people (many of whom I adore, although there are certainly the usual nut case blowhards) I'm not going for anything else.

I'm just so over it, I know it's hard to understand and I sound almost petulant, but really, once I'm done, I really am DONE. I think that's why I give people and situations so many chances in life, I come off wishy-washy and a pushover sometimes, but it's partly because I have that ability to cut something (or someone) completely out of my life, and once that happens, nothing is going to change it. I try to avoid it. I avoided it several times at TWOP and then something just clicked and voila--SO done.

It was a good show and I still care about all of them, such good acting.

BUT, in no way do I believe he would have walked out of that apartment and been left to his own devices. I just don't. At the very least, they would have followed him at a distance to ensure he died, and wasn't just captured or wounded.

Frankly, Granny's right, their emotional involvements are making them dangerous allies. The husband should not have broken protocol or orders just because he's trying to be nice to, or win back, his wife, and he wouldn't have done that if they were still just spy partners. Letting him walk not only put them and their kids at risk, it also put the KGB's presence in the USA at risk. They would have been broken by the FBI, even back then they had ways.

So, yeah, touching, great scene, but it would never really happen.

Wow, only 25 minutes in to the show and so far, not a boring moment. Things are ramping up. Glad to see Granny tell them off for that stunt last week too.

ETA

That was a really good hour of TV, I thought last week was kind of weak, but this episode rocked, especially the surprise at the end.

Need to catch up tonight. They didn't show last week's episode again until early this morning -- like 1am

See, Mariah, I am the opposite -- I loved last week, and was moved to tears, and thought every performance was amazing. This week, for the first time, I thought there were two painfully weak scenes from actresses I find very compelling. The scene with Stan and his wife (damn, I cannot remember her name right now) -- she is very talented and freaking gorgeous, but I didn't fully buy her emotion, and couldn't tell if it was somehow underwritten or a problem with the acting. Later, when Elizabeth flees after catching the man they were pursuing -- I didn't buy her leaving, nor the supposed depth of her emotion or loss of control.

I'm still obsessed and love the show. But I watched it more or less twice - my husband walked in at the end of the airing and awesome F/X always repeats the ep, and I felt the same each way.

The 'going out' fashions in the beginning of the ep were awesome. Perfect early 80s beauties.

I can be quite critical about spy shows, and last week's was OK to me, as long as I completely suspended disbelief, which I wasn't able maintain throughout. I just could not buy, as hard as I tried, that they would let him go--it was much too risky, but beyond that, it was completely against orders. So, two ways to get killed! The KGB takes them out as unreliable, or, that guy is merely wounded, or runs and gets caught, and they are all exposed. Far too much risk to simply die a different way. When they lose me logically, they lose me emotionally.

I prefer the conflict between Granny and Elizabeth. Which one is lying, or wrong?

Ahh, but I don't see this as a spy show. For me it's more about Elisabeth and Phillip than their jobs to me - although I love the backgrounds of my own history. The again, I'm pretty good at suspending disbelief. I watch The Walking Dead, lol (with my nephew.)

I loved that Elisabeth trusted Gregory enough to let him die his way and that Phillip loved Elisabeth enough to trust her and let him go too. And of course Gregory loving Elisabeth and the cause enough to die for it in a way that would end the investigation and be satisfying for the FBI.

Gotta agree with Camo and cosmo here, Mariah. This week's was kind of meh for me. Still love the show, though, but last week's episode, for me, was just A+. Really some of the best tv I've seen in years. It was just heartwrenching. This week's wasn't like that for me. And I do agree, too, with this show's "spyness" being secondary to the complicated relationship of Phillip and Elizabeth. It's surreal watching keri russel sometimes, b/c, dammit, that is Felciity! Why is Felicity getting felt up in a public bathroom?? haha. I'll always have a soft spot for her though just b/c she was Felicity.

Different strokes!

The problem I had is that he might not have died, even if that WAS his intention. It didn't ruin it for me, but it did take me out of the story. Last nights just kept surprising me! I'm still not sure who is nuts, Granny or Elizabeth.

Definitely agree that it's their relationship is the core, and that is the most interesting, but for me, it has to be grounded in some kind of believability for it to work for me. Last night's most annoying and daytime soap opera scene to me was when Elizabeth didn't just SAY "come home." Silliness.

So we watched both episodes back to back. I liked seeing some life in Elisabeth in this week's episode. What I didn't like was Gregory's stupid reason to not go to Moscow and to basically kill himself. Hated it actually. No reason. Guess it had to be done that way to set up the following episode since E didn't follow orders. There was some great dialogue in 2nd episode. I forgot which were my favorite lines. Loved the bar scene when she was luring CIA guy into the bathroom and the line was filled in with perfect timing with the song - want to get inside you. Terrific editing although very purposeful.

That's what I decided too ccc; plus they had to get rid of Gregory and do it in a way that would propel E's storyline/character development. Good actor though, hated to see him go.

I liked him too. It was an interesting match. Now she has nobody to love but her fake husband who wants someone new.

I did find the Martha parent surprise meeting funny. He's such a good actor. I think K is very good but he is just simply superior.

Oh FBI wife is Margot Martindale (sp) She's been in many shows as a character actor. Remember she was supposed to be be very drunk that night they had the fight. I went back and looked her up on IMDB and I think they missed some roles of her's. I think she was in The Shield too - as druggie whore who Vin liked a lot. Think she died. Pretty sure it was her. She snitched.

ccc, Martindale plays the Claudia, the senior KGB agent (Granny) that gives Phillip and Elizabeth their orders. The one Elizabeth beat up. I agree she's an amazing actor - I've seen her in all kinds of things.

Sarah Misner plays the FBI wife. I know she's supposed to be a good actor - I only remember her from One Life To Live a long long time ago. I never saw The Shield.

oops - I got confused then - my mistake. I've been sick. Granny has been in tons of stuff and never got her name. They are both really good. Misner was in Rescue me too - so I mixed up the names. bad me. I also probably screwed up the Shield and Rescue Me. Ugh I'm losing my mind. I think she looks terrific and barely changed from the shows I saw her on the past years.

I agree about Misner - she looks the same as she did in OLTL and that was at least 13 years ago. I forgot about Misner being in Rescue Me - a show I watched.

This show is sooo good, my only complaint is that they only do 12-13 shows a season these days. Too expensive I guess since the quality is so high.
