We have Cotillion here in south Louisiana too. I had no desire to do it growing up and neither did my kids. I know the family that "runs" it quite well and they asked my why my kids weren't in it. I told them that they had enough of those snotty kids at school and had no desire to socialize with them outside of school. She was a bit taken aback at my answer but it was the truth. Most of the moms here would die if their kids didn't get into Cotillion. There are so many moms here that want to be society sooooooooo bad. And they're not so they want their kids to be. The same goes for being Mardi Gras royalty. They just don't get it that Mardi Gras here is a satire. It's a whole bunch of fun, drunkenness and debauchery before the solemnity of Lent.

Now, back to RHWOOC, what is a motor court? A big driveway?

I think I need an entire show of Shannon and the village idiot.
I would watch that. Shannon is exactly how I've always thought of people in the OC: overpays and brags about being green while driving an Escalade, has a housekeeper and a nanny but when her working husband asks what she did today she says, "stuff." Her freak out over the dinner party was good TV. Somehow I don't think the "we have people over for dinner all the time..." was quite the truth, lol. She should have just had it catered, although I'm glad she didn't.

If those two remind the Vickster of her and Donn I'm already feeling sorry for the guy. Except I think Donn would have never accidently only brought two bottles of wine home. She seems nice enough though.

I cracked up at Michael home for a visit with Vickie. Same ol'e Michael. Nothing has really changed there in nine years.

With Vicki's kids all flying the coop I think she should invite her mom and sibs for an extended vacay. I love watching those crazies all get together.

Tamra calling Shannon's bejeweled mouth ghetto (in her talking head interview) was priceless.

Yes. If you look at aerial views of most celebrity homes in L.A. 'burbs', they have motor courts. Big, big driveways, usually connected to 8+ car garages.

Heather or, She Who Must Be Right All the Damn Time, incorrectly called it a motor 'cade' in the first or second epi. Which was just wrong. Ha!

Did you guys think it was weird that Shannon served soup, the way she did, in the living room before dinner?

Yeah, that was weird rye. First course in the living room? I've never seen that before but then I'm not a third generation Cotillion grad, lol.

Somehow I'm doubting the "personal chef" was really a chef either. Shannon having to zap the potatoes (looked like potatoes au gratin which have to cook forever) the scramble for the brulee torch, and looking for a carving knife had all the earmarks of a couple who do not "throw dinner parties all the time."

Dopey husband did not want to serve steak? Why? I don't get it. What was his reason? Because it's not healthy? She had to cajole him into it. That was weird. Can't you see him wandering around the liquor store and walking out with two bottles and thinking, "Great, I've got everything I need for a dinner party for for 10." Dunce.

No, if cotillion teaches you anything, it teaches you that it is a porte-cochère, Don't you know? A porte-cochère, a porte-cochère, porte-cochère, porte-cochère, porte-cochère, porte-cochère, porte-cochère. Because Heather only said it 4000 times. I am sure she said to the architect, "You know that thingy that they have on RHoNJ that people drive under...."

A porte cochere is the big awning/overhang/concrete covering OVER a section of a driveway. (Hotels usually have them so you can unload your car in bad weather.) The motor court is the 'driveway'. In this case, it's the paver stone area you see. Basically it's the courtyard that you motor over. Rich people. Harumph. I'm surprised Heather didn't address her misspeak of motorcourt vs. motorcade in her blog.

I've read some bloggers saying how odd it was. I'm coming out of the closet to say that I serve soup in the living room all the time. :o Not in dainty little cups but when we have dinner parties, I almost always set up 2 different soups in crockpots in the living room. Guests help themselves. Crackers, sour cream, shredded cheeses, whatever on the side. It's like a soup bar next to the bar bar. Keeps the majority of them out of my kitchen and saves me from having to have a lot of appetizers. I hate cooking. Costco makes some amazing soups....

This is something my mother always did. Lil Rye thinks this is normal now, too. I had no idea this might be viewed as a little 'different'. LOL

Cosmo, come onna over to my house. I'm gonna give you...soup.

Ranjake was it Barkley classes?
No earthly idea- I can ask my Mom. Soup bar in the living room sounds yummy to me ; I didn't even notice Shannon serving soup in her LR.

eta: and it never occurred to me before now that Cotillion must have disappeared from town somewhere between the time I went around '74 and when my Sons might have been of age to go starting in '99.

LOL Fin! Sounds just like Heather. At least her French is good, except of course when she says champs for champagne.

rye, your soup bar sounds delicious and easy. No one has to clear the dishes before dinner either! I like it.

Watched part of the 2 episodes. Nothing changed for me and Ms. Heather NoBROW. Hate her so much. I will take Tamisue over her any day and that's not saying much. She makes me so sick. Why not just live in a hotel? They have money but not money like billionaires. It is so absurd to me. I bet Warren Buffett would agree that they are some of the most pretentious people on the planet. Did they actually call their child a bitch on national TV? Hope she drops into the sea.

I caught a snippet of the repeat tonight when the wife Shannon was talking about how great their relationship is when they are together, "So what did you do today?" "Ummmmmmm, stuff."........"Sounds brutal.".....Crickets. Reminds me of the relationship of the old man and the Sherrie Ann character who married him who had the poodle dog being trained by Jane Lynch "We have so much in common, we both love soup,... we can talk for hours...or not talk,... we can not talk for hours and hours."

Yum to the soup bar. I bet that was a big hit during the polar vortex!

Lol, fin. My daughter does an awesome Leslie impression.

Brianna needs to eat a pie and worry about her own asshole husband.

Brianna said that Donn was abusive to Vicki. Have we heard this before?

I know that Vicki, Tamra and Shannon are a handful, but Heather isn't exactly a barrel of laughs.

She said verbally abusive and I don't know what definition Brianna has for that but Donn did talk rather rude to Vickster on camera so he was probably worse off camera. Of course they batted that ball back and forth so I'm not sure that I would call that 'abuse.'

I don't mind Heather but someone (maybe The Countess) should tell her that yes, correcting grammar is considered rude. Tamara and Vicks have always been trashy and it kind of cracks me up that they don't realize it until Heather is around because Heather does not get sloppy drunk and fall down in public.

Brianna does need to let go of her concern for Vickie and Crooks but for her own sake more than Vickie's sake. I would be worried if my mother was dating that con artist too but since she can't do anything about it she needs to concentrate on her own asshole husband and move away.

ETA: The word "not" in a sentence because, Heather does not get sloppy drunk and fall down in public ala the Vickster and Tamara.

Do you think Heather makes Vicki and Tamra feel self-conscious about being basically white trash with money (or fronting) or do they just consider her a school marm?

Tamra was wearing one of Nene's peak-a-boo shoulder shirts!

I don't think telling Vicki to STFU about her whining is abusive.

Did I just watch Vicky throw a dinner party, drinking, and babysitting? With lots of wine? And boiling pots of water? Baby crawling everywhere? No babysitter? During a dinner party? HUH? I was half concerned for the baby's safety, but also half giggling that psycho Ryan gets to watch this behavior live and in full color once it's aired on Bravo. Sheesh, way to endear your son in law! I hope to god there was a babysitter behind the camera watching the baby like a hawk and we just were not privy to it.

I think Heather, unlike many many many housewives across franchises....is very intelligent. She is articulate, quick, and can communicate with zing. I like her. If I ever change my screenname it'll be to "Heathers". I like NY Heather and OC Heather!

"Great you broke our chandelier". Man talk about first world problems w/Shannon and her husband. I'm not a fan. She seems unstable. I am however a fan of their house please keep showing it.

Tamra needs to shut it about the baby. Your husband is gay Tamra! You'll be a single parent again in less than 5 years!

And WHAT IS THE DEAL with Vicki's speech pattern dropping letters and syllables for emphasis. "Lil bit"....."Muh baby"..... "Muh business." OMG.
