Has anyone here sleuthed out Ramona's financials? I'm wondering if another reason she's completely lost every shred of sense is because if they get a divorce, she won't be able to afford her entitled, snobby lifestyle. Is NY a community property state? |

lovesnark, I'm pretty sure Ramona has her own money. She had a very successful career long before she married Mario, then she had even more money. Ramona has been very open about how her mother was trapped in a terrible marriage because she had no money or a job or a way to get a job. Ramona was always telling Avery how important it was for a woman to have her own career, her own money, etc. It's one of the things I admired about Ramona. So she would be okay financially if he kicked Mario out but maybe not the lifestyle she enjoys now (two incomes will always be more money than one.) She would probably get at least half of what they acquired in the marriage as well, like the house in the Hamptons. |

I know she's talked about her mother and told Avery to go to college and learn how to support herself. I was wondering if she let Mario move back in because without his money she'd have to downsize and not be able to support the high dollar apartment in the city and maybe lose her I'm-too-good-for-the-Berkshires Hampton's abode. We know she'd claim she should get everything because he's a cheater but that's not what usually happens. It's usually sell and divide what's left after the creditors get theirs or one party buys the other one out. Maybe Ramona and Sonja can get a place together if she decides to dump Mario's ass for good. They can call it the Pinot Palace. Ramona will make sure they have hot water. And regular blow outs. |

I guarantee most of the income is from Mario's tsotchke company. NY is not community property (look at Jason/Beth). Ramona might have to move further east (GASP) in Manhattan. Countess didn't keep up her lifestyle, but she did get the house in the Hamptons. I think Ramona will stick it out with Mario as long as she can. She is 56! Needs a bit of dough for her old age to carry on the lifestyle and I don't think she'll have it with a divorce. |

Ramona stopped the rag trade. I think she started buying a lot of clothes etc. Maybe she started TrU rEnEwAl on her own dime and lost $. She might not have as much as we think. She's looking at Sonja and Luann and then at Jill and thinking, "I like my cushy life with trips to Italy and my Hamptons home. So what's a little self respect." Or maybe Avery is telling them to stay together. I do think she would do anything for Avery. |

I think Ramona may have seemed more sanctimonious than she really is - I mean, I think she believed in her marriage, she believed that Jill and Luann and others were lying because they hated her. She may still be lying to herself and thinking it's only this one affair. Who knows what he said to her, too? I wonder what he thinks of the girlfriend after that letter? I do not understand the idea that she would need his money, though, as she's made it clear that she was financially independent before she married Mario. I wonder where the financing for her wine and jewelry and make-up came from … is that searchable? |

I doubt if the financing for her skin care and other stuff would be findable. I believe she was doing okay financially before she married Mario but I don't think she'd be able to maintain the lifestyle she loves to throw in people's faces (along with wine glasses) without his money. I think a spin off with her and Sonja sharing an apartment, trying to cope with less money and maintain their status would be hilarious. The could call it Crazy and Desperate: The Senior Lady's Guide To Manhattan On A Budget. |

Me either Icy. She has been so open about her mother being trapped in a terrible marriage because she was financially dependent - I just can't buy that Ramona would stay with Mario because of money. She might have to downsize but I still think she'd rather do that than stay with Mario over money. So it has to be something else - like Avery or hell, maybe she just really loves him. |

I think she'd stay with Mario for the lifestyle, and the ability to have a man on her arm, and a good looking one at that, for important occasions. You need a lot in the bank to fund that lifestyle. Mario has the company with ongoing income. |

Okay. I watched Grey Gardens last night. The similarities between Sonja and Little Edie are hilarious and frightening at the same time. The delusions of grandeur, the performing, the flirtation. I watched the commentary from the film makers and they said Little Edie was flirting with them the entire time they were filming. One of the women editors kept in contact with her until her death and up until the end, she claimed to have all sorts of men proposing marriage. Andy asked Sonja about the Grey Gardens comparisons when she was on WWHL and she said she was fine with it because the Edies were fun and creative types. If she starts wearing towels and sweaters on her head, we'll know she's totally embraced it. |

I watched First Look last night. Ramona comes off like a crazy person, but a lot of it is posturing for the camera, I think. She walks out of the house with that swagger as if she's queen bee. Her hair does look like shit. She didn't storm off yet, I guess she and Sonja stayed for dinner. Sonja actually is making sense in the scene. Kelly is looking like Dalai Lama in retrospect. |

Me too - I can't stand it. Even when I was in my 20s/30s - forget about it now at 50- however, it should have been discussed prior to the trip and perhaps it was another production angle. On that note though, Ramona was horrid- was she really though or was it a set up. I can't believe that she hasn't been anywhere with mountains or heat considering her trips to Africa. |

I really like Carole - I don't get the boots at all thought instead of sandals unless they told her she'd be hiking thru the woods. I remember that style with shorts in the '90s - lots of us wore them with shortish shorts or skirts when we went to concerts - why she would wear them in the car I have no clue. I don't even wearing shoes in the car. I take them off immediately and stick on slipper socks - I do it on the jitney too. How uncomfortable. I do like her house in LA too. Lucky her.
