I was thinking the same thing last night, ccc.
Still, I love Lulu. Ramona has gotten away with a lot of shit over the years. It's about time for her bad edit.

AGREE!!!!! Bad edit long overdue. I want some Bravo minion to dig in the files and find her throwing shit around her young secretaries so that I stop sounding like a crazy person! (said in Vicki Gunvalson voice). I don't like Vicki- and her focus on poop this year-(see the corn tomorrow, did you have diarrhea?, Brooks is sexy as shit)- but Vicki is at least giving real, unequivocal apologies in her blogs this year. Ramona still thinks her poop doesn't stink...

So many good points! I think I'll try to break it down by housewife. One thing I will say about these NY "wives" at least I don't feel completely humiliated (as a woman) watching this group! I still enjoy this show. So my morning after opinions.

Kristen: I think she's the best "new" housewife on any of the wives shows (for a first season add.) She's got a sense of humor, she stands her ground, she has a somewhat problematic husband, cute kids, and a past relationship with Heather. I think she's funny and adds relative youth to the show, which is needed.

Ramona: She's playing a Bravo role, while her real life disintegrates. I'm sure she's on hormones for the menopause/aging thing, and I really wonder if too many or wrong dosage along with the Mario issues has just made her flip. Also, there are plastic glasses and plastic glasses. I don't think that glass (I looked closely) was one of those party glasses you buy as a use once and throw away things. I think it was a solid, reusable, high quality for plastic wine glass.

Carole: For a while I thought she was just copying Carrie S&TC, a writer, short, cute but odd mixes of clothing, doesn't cook or use the kitchen. After this last episode though, and maybe from reading her first book, I think that's just who she is. I adored her outfits, and loved her doing that perfect dive from the boat. I honestly think I'd really get along with her in real life.

Heather: I have to give it to you guys. You saw her potential far before I caught on. She really does "have it all" but is still both a guys' woman and a gals women. She can get dirty and haul luggage, or clean up and talk serious business. Successful business (I do think Spanx copied her latest) and a very loving relationship with her husband and children. Aside from Lisa/Ken she seems to have the best marriage. She's fun and caring, and I'd like her in real life as well.

Luann: I always thought I'd like her if she dropped the countess role and was just herself. So far this season she's done that, and I'm liking her (on the show) so much more. She's just stunning in no makeup and wet hair and carrying canoes. I doubt I'd care for her much IRL, she has issues, but this is the first season I've enjoyed her.

Sonja: The Grey Gardens documentary was on TCM last night. I watched it again, and I still can't decide which of the Edie's she reminds me of most. She is a combination of both really. Her new-age stuff is sheer desperation. Didn't everyone get over THE SECRET long ago? I was really disturbed watching her hit on that young kid. (Her blog talks about a party with some famous guy's son who was staying with him.) Anyway, I'm so mixed about her. Yes, her youth was given to an old guy who apparently screwed her over in the divorce, he more money than he'll ever use, it's sad. Obviously her only hope is to snag another rich husband, but she's going after KIDS. It's pathetic and sad and I don't see things ending well for her. She's delusional.

Aviva: She adds nothing to this show for me. There is nothing likable about her and her creepy father. I enjoyed the episode last night more than any so far, and I doubt it's a coincidence that Aviva wasn't there. She makes EVERYTHING about her, and frankly, since I find her so uninteresting, that always sucks.

Do you think Sonja is putting on the Grey Gardens act.

No, I think it's real, which is why it's so uncomfortable. I doubt she even realized she was doing it until the blogs started talking about it. So she embraces it, because that's what you do to diffuse scary things.

ETA
Also she's in denial about her house falling down around her.

I doubt she sees the Blanche Dubois comparisons either. After all! She's a strong woman who owned her own house and was successful before she snagged her super rich husband.

I do think she's in shock, she spent most of her adult life living a life that most could only dream about. Private islands, yachts, multiple homes in multiple exotic locations, the very best parties and jewelry and clothes and purses...to nothing.

Last night on WWHL the guest was someone … Carrie Wilson? from SNL. She said to Ramona "why don't you finance the toaster oven?" … and Ramona skated around the question by saying "you never use your own money, you get an investor and take a percentage" and Carrie said about her buying the AC "how about hot water for Sonja, I'm more worried about that!"

She seriously asked great questions and in a good way … unfortunately, Ramona danced around answering directly and of course, Andy was no help.

ETA: Forgot to remark on the producers' machinations with sending Carole in while Ramona was packing. They wanted her busted before she left. Also, having Carole drive her to the airport -- if Ramona had the choice I'll bet she would have had Sonja drive her. But then they wouldn't be able to snag Sonja's hurt reaction at dinner later … I sort of wanted Ramona to introduce Adam the pilot to Carole. He's cute, she's looking, why not?

I bought a copy and watched it last week. To me, she's more Little Edie than Big. The being flirtatious, the going on about how all the men want to be with her, the delusion of being a performer. I can see her morphing into Big Edie as she ages if she doesn't snap out of it and come back to reality. But, who would be her Little Edie? I hope her daughter wouldn't get sucked into something like that. The commentary by the film makers was really great and shed light on their bizarre and complex relationship.

I ordered a copy of the Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore film, too. I was hoping it would come today but it didn't, dammit!

There were moments last night when the mother burst into song and talked about her old days while sitting in a decrepit house where she looked and sounded so much like Sonja I couldn't believe it.

She did ask great questions. Andy did make a remark about her using her staged panic attack as an excuse to leave that I liked. He pointed out that she'd already packed and arranged the flight before she went in the woods. And, when she said she needed to be with her family in the Hamptons to help her get over her staged trauma, Andy said 'But, you were at Molly Sims' party'. It wasn't the best, but he did try to do a mild call out for her lying about everything.

I am so not up on who's who I had to google Molly Sims. Essentially, Ramona lied so she could go be part of the pretentious, fabulocity crowd. Maybe Molly didn't want Sonja there. There were probably lots of young guys there that Sonja would have drunkenly slobbered all over.

I was just thinking about our discussion about Ramona obviously being able to handle the heat in Africa and I realized something: she chose to go to Africa. Africa doesn't have to make itself anything it's not because she chooses to go to them. But Heather invited the ladies to her home, they were her invited guests. She does need to prepare for them, for their comfort. If you don't have AC, it would be a lot to put it in just for a weekend. But then don't invite them up during the hottest part of summer; wait for the Fall … which is lovely, I'm sure, in the Berkshires. You wouldn't get to go swimming in the lake, but you could still ride a boat … and walking in the woods would still be great. I just think if I was a hostess for a party, I'd think "What does (Ramona) need to be happy here? I'd better make sure I have some (Pinot G.) for her, plus she's (older than me and will need some shows of respect) … and (older) people (get hot or cold, let me make sure the temperature can be adjusted.)*" … If I had Heather's money, I could take care of all that and would. Of course, if I was on RH, maybe I wouldn't care enough because she's just another employee/co-worker and I'm not going to make changes to my own home when Bravo's gonna be tramping all over it with cameras anyway.

Heather did go to trouble for one of her guests: she got that Elvis impersonator for Kristin. Surely that was more expensive than some fans for the house.

* These points are interchangeable per guest. I'll bet Heather did some stuff to prepare for Carole being there, too. God, think what she would have had to do for Aviva! ;)

Would I be happy with no AC? Absolutely not. Would I carry on like a lunatic about it? Nope. The guest also has an obligation to be gracious and Ramona failed at that miserably.

Who was the host at Scary Island? Ramona?

Also, were they even filming in the Fall? I can't imagine Heather hangs out with Ramona, or visa versa, unless they are contractually obligated to do so. ;)

In one of Alex's videos she said that each "wife" has to plan something, a party, a charity, a trip, etc. and turn that idea into Bravo. So, the trip might have been planned months in advance, especially since Bravo delayed shooting several times. I really doubt that Heather expected the heat wave that hit.

Then again, since Bravo bought the air conditioner, I can very much envision Bravo doing something like "Hey, it's hot as hell up there right now, and Heather doesn't have air conditioning. Let's move this trip up now! Someone find a place that can deliver an air conditioner that doesn't fit!"

Then again, I'm jaded.

Exactly andme. I didn't fault Ramona for ordering the air conditioner. Had it been me, I would have probably simply headed out to the water during the hot part of the day.

I do love my air conditioning, Mariah!

Another thought I had was that the other women have issues that they are dealing with, too. Heather has a child with severe health issues. Kristen's child has not started walking...and she's married to a douche. Sonja is in deep financial trouble. Lu went thru a divorce and children issues. Yet everyone else was able to find a way to enjoy themselves on the trip. Except Ramona.

Oh so do I! I would have been in the shady woods or in the water for most of that trip if I'd been a guest.

Or, you know, simply apologized and said that I hate that much heat, it makes me miserable, and I'm so sorry, but I'd be staying at the nearby hotel and visit the "girls" for dinners and early mornings.

I also wouldn't have started the trip off with asking Heather if her house was the garage, or refused to carry my own luggage, or help with the canoe. Ahem.
