True confession - I was part of that (i though 5%) years ago. Talk about ego killer -- and that damn test they do takes you about an hour only to find out 'sorry sucka' you ain't matchable. An this was in a fairly large city of Pittsburgh...with the filters for geography basically set to the whole state. How embarrassing.
Was it Kelly who used the word authentic or inauthentic? I get a total lack of authenticity about Carole. It's really annoying b/c I thought she had potential. And that is one wonky jaw that totally gives her a rat face. |

Yes, you're right about the jaw, Shopper. I just noticed the beady eyes and teeth. Her behavior at dinner with Ramona and Mario set me off. "I only flirt with a man when his wife's there" Good for you Ratface! The wives won't have far to reach when they smack the smirk off your face.

LOL, ratface. At what point is Ramona gonna be supremely pissed at her and take away her cheese? Shopper - thank you lucky stars that the fundy dating service rejected you. Try match.com...my sister had good luck. |

Wow. I adore Carole so far. That is so weird to me. Maybe it's her absolutely amazing blogs but I totally get her droll humor and her whole vibe. She's the first housewife on any show that seems like someone I would like and get along with in real life. She is so different from the phony plastic surgery vapid "wives" that fill most of these shows. I was reading the Amazon reviews on her book, and now it's on my list of things to buy, especially because of the first customer review. I know what being a caregiver for someone with cancer is like, and my best friend went through something so similar to Carole and she's still wrecked from it emotionally, and it's been several years. Actually, I think I should by that book for her, it might help her. What Remains. |

I love her, too- different strokes. I think it's hysterical that she started joke twitters when she found out about katie divorcing Tom- that she was going to be the 4th Mrs. Tom Cruise- she was tweeting #TomCarole- until her family told her to knock it off. Also, as I said I recently re-ordered and re-read "what remains"- and obviously it resonated with me because of my situation- but she hasn't disappointed me yet. About her looks- her family was REALLY Blue collar- latch-key kids- I doubt they had dental work for cosmetics. No reason she can't now, but maybe she's used to her looks. That said? This season is weird and sort of dull and not really "must-watch" tv for me this year. Maybe it will get better with time... Mariah- I just adored the book the second time. Really moving- but honest and irreverant- wonderful. |

I'm going to order it then. I think it might really help my friend, who hasn't really been able to recover, she goes through the motions, but it's like her soul has just been crushed down and is unable to find her old hopefulness and joy. She hides it well, but we've been best friends since we were in 5th grade, so she is able to be honest with me about her devastation, and about some of the horrors of the whole thing. I am so glad it helped you Ranjake. ETA, just ordered two copies, may I say I seriously love being able to use my American Express rewards points so easily on Amazon? I'm breaking my no ho-wife merch rule and going to read Carole's book your reccomendations. Although I am justifying it by telling myself that this is something she did waaaaaay before joining the show. I remember when the book came out and she was on Oprah [a sure fire way to make a book #1 so there's that] and while I don't remember the specifics I do remember thinking, "Why is this woman coming out with this book NOW?" It had been five/six years since her husband died and it seemed it was being sold on the Kennedy angle. I don't know - Oprah was gaga for it but it left a bad taste in my mouth. So now that we've gotten to see Carole Radziwill and a little about her, plus her writing I'm in. Thanks ranjake and Mariah. :) |

Back to the show: Heather is bugging the shit out of me, not because she is sticking it to Ramona but because I suspect leaving Ramona out is less about Ramona and more about creating drama. Maybe that's why I like Ramona - her drama seems more organic. Heather did get some points for her organ donation PSA. ranjake, I really admire your ability to be so generous on that issue during the worst time of your life. But not enough points to cancel out her behavior towards Ramona in that shop. I thought those clothes were soooo not Ramona and I suspect Heather knew that when she invited Ramona. When she used the word "makeover" her passive-agressiveness was super obvious. |

It's odd because that review on Amazon from publisher's weekly was really a bitch. That reviewer was pissed that a memoir was not all about the Kennedy's AND that the book had Kennedy's in it? Make up your freaking mind asshole. I LOVED the response review from the highest rated reader review on Amazon. So spot on, and it's really what convinced me to buy the book, that and Ranjake's review and several good reviews on another board. I think many bought it for the "Kennedy connection" but from reading the reviews, that is not at all what the book was about. I totally understand her writing it years later, that kind of shock/grief/pain/loss takes time for perspective, let alone the reflection time to actually try to put it into words. I'm hoping it will help my friend, and I need to read it myself as well, since I'm pretty involved in Cancer support, and we often have members facing similar griefs and conflicting feelings. |

Back to the show for me too. The thing I'm enjoying about the Ramona/Heather conflicts is that they seem based in personality clashes and reality, rather than put on shit for the "show." Also, I think it's kind of an even match, and as long as the other wives don't end up in that "team" shit (too much) I don't have a dog in the race. Yet. Of course they will try for the team building, especially the countess who is salivating at the prospect of someone else insulting Ramona, but I'm hoping it doesn't gel into firm sides. Sonja will certainly socialize with all of them, so that may be a bridge that stops the repeat of the boring as hell fabricated bullshit that was last two seasons on RHNY. |

ITA, Mariah. I hated the "team" shit, too. Just watching this week's episode...and ugh...ratface's "date" was reminiscent of Kelly's fake date a few seasons ago. I didn't know ratface was a journalist...she hardly ever mentions it. ETA - I don't particularly dislike Carole..I just love the name "ratface'. I also think "schnoz" every time Heather comes on the screen. What was the scoop with the big award that Ramona won? That seemed much like the phony award that Vicki gave herself...and then fell down the steps. Who was the woman who Ramona was pissed off at who "hates men"? Love that Ramona just stumbled into the restaurant. And what was the point of Carole bring up that she's a "princess". Edited by andme, Jul 4 2012, 01:01 AM.

Carole and Ramona were going to play a practical joke on Luann in London, something about THERE Luann should curtsey or something. Since Ramona didn't go, Carole didn't do it. It could have been funny. No idea about the award thing. BUT, Ramona ended her speech with "SO you CAN have it ALL!" or something. Then the next speaker got up and started with something like, "You can't have it all." |

The parents in the nanny show have to be like the customers on pregnant in heels. ITA that good ole Holla left out Ramona more to create drama and set the whole thing up after she met Ramona and saw how abrasive she was IRL. She picked an easy target, one that is hard for the other women to defend. The lunch sealed the deal with the whole, "Are we??" I think what bothers me about it is that I am not invested in Heather the way I am in Ramona. So even if Ramona is a pain in the ass, annoying, obnoxious bitch, but I know her and her ways. She may deserve it, but not from a newbie like Heather who won't own that what she did was wrong in the RHW world. |
