Thout the "sleep, fuck" thing was stupid for a 40+ woman.

No kidding. Carole is the type of person I want to slap and shout "Grow the fuck up!" I do think that a person can be hip, cool and current at any age, but it is a fine art or an authentic, organic thing. I get a definite whiff of desperation from Carole. And in a way I can understand it. She spent her younger years caring for a sick and dying man and then had years struggling to work through that loss. I don't blame her for wanting to do a rewind, but after a point in time it becomes futile. She is getting very close to the mutton acting/dressed as lamb territory.

I see all of your points, but maybe she just has a silly sense of humor?

I like her place, it's not massive or pretentious or overly fussy, it just seems like a good fit for a single woman writer.

The thing is- SOME old people really do still like sex:) and that's all I'm saying :)

I just usually wish I were still as vital as my Mom and all of her 76-year-old friends. They're so busy they knock me out- and they're interested in everything.

I just re-read "what remains"- (blahblahblah- I say it all the time:) and I know I'm probably a Carole apologist because I so strongly relate to her at this time; but in her book- I don't sense the phony. Not arguing with anyone that does. There could be a lot there that I don't want to see.

eta: for all of her business and parenting accomplishments- and I covet that Hamptons' home ; I kind of want to shout "grow the eff up!" at Ramona...

I'm wondering if Carole isn't giving us what she *thinks* we want to see in a howife? I am one of those who think she's inauthentic. However the fact that she's got a camera up her butt - how can you possibly be your normal sellf in a situation like that? I think that goes for all of the ho-wives. I think the camera amplifies what is there - or in some cases the howife 'creates' a reality that doesn't exist (see Traylor, NeNe and all of her shenanigans and repos and Bravo paid for homes).

Ranjake- I can't imagine what you are going through, but if her book gives you comfort or is something you can relate to that's all that matters.

If Carole paid 675 in 2002 it's worth probably at least twice that now - probably more. I'm sure it's paid off - or did they mention she still has a mortgage?

It only shows financial transations against the property. It showed the IRS lien of a few years ago, and a $25K second mortgage a few years ago. It leads me to believe she doesn't have big bucks. Also, its on the second floor.

I like Carole, think she has adopted the downtown cool girl persona for the show, so I'm sure some of her behavior is exaggerated. She does add an element of intelligence and wit that was sorely lacking. Don't think we'll ever see her screaming or throwing drinks or tables. She's getting nice publicity for her new book.

One among many things I like about Heather, she has not had her nose narrowed to the width of a paper clip.

I'm going to disagree that she overpaid for it. Her living room is big and square with super ceilings. When she bought that was much less than now. West Village is super expensive now so it would be a million now. I know it sounds nuts but it has an office and a bedroom and the kitchen isn't that bad. Those steps are okay. Some of those places have those twisty metal steps and I can barely walk up them sober. I'm sure she has more than 2 pillow cases and they don't all say sleep and fuck.

I thought they were pillow shams, not pillow cases?

You know, at least Carol has done something real and has the awards to show for it; unlike Ramona and Vicki who have kind of "made up" awards. Say what you will about her, she is not a typical dumb Housewife. I wonder what she would do locked in a room with Tre for a few hours?

Ratings are not good. RHofNJ had 2.4 viewers with 1.1 in the good demographic. RHofNY had close to 1.4 with only .5 in the good demographic.

Guess nobody cares if Ramona goes to London.

Nope and Jill and loving every minute of it as I bet Alex is as well. I don't think Kelly would even know or care about the ratings. She's off on her new thing or whatever. I think it was a big mistake to fire all of them at once. Even if you didn't like them they brought in the ratings. There are many people who watch and are not vocal on the internet. So you have all these people saying they HATE JILL ZARIN, THEY HATE KELLY, THEY HATE ALEX etc. but you know what? They are not the majority and they are the same people who post over and over and over again under the same name or pseudonyms. I think Bravo got duped by them. I tend to doubt they will ever do this again simply based upon social medial. Stupid move if you ask me even though I love Carol as a new addition. It backfired big time if you ask me - or if I were an advertising executive buying air time I'd be quite angry.

How the fans regard someone is hardly the entire motivation for keep them or fire them. I suspect Jill was a serious problem behind the scenes and probably made production harder. That's a lot of people vs. one "star" who was waning anyway. Kelly went koo-koo-for-cocoa-puffs on Scary Island and from that point on, was probably regarded as a serious liability. They gave both Jill and Kelly a year to pull their feet from the fire and both failed to even acknowledge their problems. In fact, I'd say they both reveled in their personas, thinking coming back the next season was permission to continue as before. Cindy was simply a miscast and they dealt with it, as they've done in many of the franchises. Alex, I believe, lost her spot because of Simon ... and perhaps as a sop for the removal three of the "team brunette" players.

As for the same people posting over and over again ... of course, people do. But I cannot see Bravo taking so small a sample or being fooled by the same voices in "different pseudonyms" ... I think Bravo has a staff member who checks in here everyday -- every day, so "she" knows us -- she gets to know who is posting where and wouldn't easily fall for trickery. Plus, their "samples" are large enough that those factors would not weigh much, I believe.

MMV, naturally, but I think Bravo cut out the whole "cancer" -- even going so far as to remove some healthy cells (Alex) where it might spread. I mean, as much as I enjoy them, Silex AFTER Jill's been fired? That would have been a potential disaster. Simon, more than Alex.

ccc do you mean you think they fired the three "simply based upon social media" or that based upon social media you don't think they will ax more than one at a time again? I tend to agree with what Icy wrote - there were probably many factors involved. I don't think it really matters if Jill, Alex, and Kelly are there or not but I do know I after last years reunion I wouldn't be watching at all if the same group with the same dynamics returned. But then I'm probably not in the 'good demographic" so *shrug*.

Charlie Sheen was reemployed very quickly. Even Lindsay Lohan gets a gig. So I think if RHofNY's ratings were off the chain last year, everyone would have come back, problem people or not. But as I recall, ratings started to tumble last year; people got sick of blondes vs brunettes. I wish they had kept Jill rather than Ramona, but I think Bravo would have experienced the same decline in viewership.

Maybe NJ ratings are still good because the people are relatives and maybe the scenes are relatively "real." Same with BH, Kyle and Kim.

People might just be sick of NY, same restaurants, same old Central Park scene, same old "you didn't own it." It might have run its course. Hope not; I still like it.

LOL, and Ramona hits a Bravo employee and doesn't get fired? Andy Cohen works in mysterious ways. Maybe she has nekkid pictures of him.
