Right. Lulu is totally doing the one-up thing. It's like she's studied Alexis from the OC.

Lulu got used to being a big deal Countess for the first few seasons on the show. Then her laughable "singing career" which I suspect she sort of took seriously but I hope not. She made herself THE go to person for etiquette and all things Countess-like.

Now, she is not only without her pal Jill and her flunky Cindy but faced with a "Princess" who hung out with John and Caroline Kennedy. Plus she had a real career and has some real skills. Methinks Lulu is a little panicked. That's why she kept trying to form the "team" thing early on by badmouthing Ramona and telling Holla she wants to be on "her team."

The crazy thing is I think Lulu is probably really fun. She has a good sense of style and apparently has no problem letting her freak flag fly off camera. If she could just drop this lame "Elegance and grace" crap and be herself she might like the results. But thankfully for us, that's not going to happen.

Icy I agree, but I also feel like Bravo is playing with the scenes to make it seem worse than it was. Carole could have easily said, "Can you believe what our mothers had to deal with?" to bring it back around, instead of sulking. I guess I think that Carole is being petty. It reflects badly upon Carole that she can't work around Luann without devolving into immature antics.

I really hated Luann's bullying of Alex. But I do give her credit for laughing off the one upsmanship on WWHL.

I seem to remember Luann defending her bossiness or one upsmanship in a blog a few years ago with her explanation being that she was the captain of a girls softball team, so she was used to taking charge. Anyone remember this?

This is why I hate these shows, they have me defending Luann and Ramoner.

Actually, now that it's been revealed that Andy and Carole were friends pre her coming on the show, I'm leaning more towards your side, Finestra (no sides! no sides! ;) ) ... Carole could have made some effort to counter what she felt Luann was "doing wrong" ... perhaps she was too exhausted (I'm tired of the excuse, but the show didn't expand, I've just talked about it too much!) to be a bigger person on the issue. We also don't know if that dinner scene was the first time it (1 upping) happened. They already had negative ideas of Luann, starting with her "drive-by shooting" in one of the first episodes and continuing (for Carole, at least) with her dropping of the royal names at Sonja's magazine cover party.

When I have energy, I'll do that -- turn someone's error of manners into a conversational fork in the road. But sometimes I don't have energy or I stop myself from needing to fix everyone else's lives. In her book, Carole describes her life with her late husband and she is very much the "mother" or "fixer" -- maybe she's just still exhausted from those years. Ah, exhaustion again! :)

Nice mini marathon on right now.

When they were at Heather's friend's shop - she was totally an ass to Ramoner. And I don't get why women have parties to try on clothes. They all tried on *alot* of clothes and then proceeded to walk around the store, sit and talk or do other random things while wearing the clothes. It totally grossed me out - I guess I should be glad Sonja (who doesn't wear undies) wasn't there.. And when they were walking out, each had a small bag..so they bought something, but more then likely not the clothes they lounged about it.

Oh and Carole (sorry dead horse coming). She is so just extra. The first thing she said when coming in and hugging people at the store was 'oh i'm waiting for a phone call.' Who cares? And why announce it - she's already told Ramona on the walk over - why tell Holla and Aviva? She was setting up her 'i'm so cool I'm going to sit on the stoop outside and take this phone call' scene where she just so happens to learn about the TV show. By the way, she was still in clothes from the shop when she did that - did anyone notice? Clothes AND Shoes in fact with bare feet. I was totally grossed out - and judging from the small bag she had when leaving, I'm thinking she didn't buy said outfit. So the store is just going to put the dirty pants back on the racks would be my guess. I think she bought the shoes judging from the shape of the bag. Regardless of if she bought the clothes who does that?

But back to Holla - Ramoner was polite - those clothes clearly weren't her style yet Holla was insistent Ramoner get a makeover because she was in a rut according to Holla. I agree Ramoner likes her shiny straples party dresses, but this season her casual clothes have been on point and really not much different than what Holla wears. Holla was gunning for her.

Oh and back to Willard. She must be the only person who can share good news - she accused Ramoner of doing a one-upsman too. When Willard made her announcement about the TV show Ramoner seemed to be really happy and then she shared about her wine going into Target. I guess b/c Ramona didn't get the news while all angsty on a street stoop it didn't count.

So funny, Shopper -- I read "mini marathon on right now" and turned on the TV to literally, the scene you describe ... and realized as I read your paragraph and listened that indeed, Ramona does try a 1-upper too! What is with these previouslies? They can't stand the newbies to get any special attention!

I am watching Carole walk through London with Luann and Sonja and she is going on and on about moving to London and Luann is asking her very pointed questions to elicit more info. I guess Carole doesn't mind Luann's convo skills when she is getting all of the attention. This was a long scene and it is only toward the end that Luann adds in that she also was looking for a house in London. And Carole complains (but it is in a voice over, so we don't know when she makes that comment.)

ETA: I think Carole's THs and voiceovers complaining about Luann all come from Luann standing at Heather's dinner and saying, "Well I will stand like the others..." The ultimate one upping of Carole. IMO Carole didn't like being shown up at the dinner and then took issue with everything Luann did.

I haven't had much of an urge to catch up on RHoNY this season. I have decided I can't figure our any of the new housewives and finally I don't really care. This used to be my favorite franchise. Will try again to catch up this week.

Hey perhaps this oneupmanship was something that has occurred on all the shows but until Carole brought it up so blatantly it was a non issue. I bet we can go back on every season on every ho wife show and it will be right there in front of us. It's like a sport for all of them from the very beginning. Carole studied the shows

Is there a new episode tonight? it's weird..they aren't replaying the previous episodes like they normally do. My DVR says it's a new episode, but they have been labeling the 'social' episodes as new when really they aren't.

I think tonight we get to see Aviva's Dad hitting on her and her saying, "Dad that's disgusting" without missing a beat. I think tonight might be the "you're both white trash" night.

Crossing fingers. I just find the programming up to the new episode weird.

And I'm guessing the next two weeks are nixed b/c Bravo is now the home of Olympic Tennis.

Really? Oh how I hope if they have some down time they will rerun the epic tennis matches from RHoNY!

yeah disco they are running a stoopid promo about it - My guide doesn't go further then Friday I have an olympics schedule somewhere - IIR it's not every day that tennis is on, but quite a few. If they have to pre-empt any of the days Sunday, Monday, Tuesday I'd think they would bump them all. Plus Andy is having Ms Bruce Jenner and someone else on WWHL on Thursday so I think that will be his Olympic sendoff.

Come to think of it, RHoNY has had many tennis matches. What was the one they did first season? I think Jill brought Simon as her ringer to set Ramoner off. Then there was the epic shit talking/tennis match from Morroco last season.

Lemme guess, Carole knows nothing about wine, but is she going to win tonight?

Who else used the sword to open the champagne? I feel like this is deja vu all over again!

But of course, if she doesn't win, she'll complain that the winner was just trying to one up her.

What was with Le Ross and LuLu testing Ramoner on her wine? It ended up not being drama, but I feel like they wanted it to be.

Sonja continues to embarass herself. Her TH's about the graphic designer were just in such poor taste.

Holla - I can't stand her, but she continues to prove that she might be the most knowledgeable business woman of all the howives...including B.
