Maybe Melissa has been trying to teach him how to read in their spare time. She was a teacher after all, right?

I want receipts on this - I keep forgetting to ask y'all - but does it bug anyone else that she claims she was a teacher WHILE going to college and working at the strip er, bikini bar? In what world can you be a teacher while obtaining a college degree? I wish someone would call her on this - methinks her 'teaching' was actually babysitting at the Y or a cycle of student teaching or some such. I hate how they keep trying to make it more than I'm sure it was. She wasn't at PS 12 for damn sure. Even private schools have degree credentials.

Re Gia's purse - how'd that escape me? Not gonna lie, if my parents had been idiots to let me carry a designer purse at her age I would have. I will have to peep the purse on the repeat - if it indeed is 20 years old you can tell, and I bless Tre giving it to Gia. I will probably do such with my daughter - now if Tre went out and bought it for her, well I can't support that. I got my first designer purse at 18 also - though it was not a Fendi. I see nothing wrong with giving it to your daughter if it's not something you are saving or is worth thousands. I started carrying a purse in middle school - yeah i'd frequently forget it in class. That's how I roll.

I think if I was in as much debt as the Guidice's were (if they aren't still) I would have been putting all of those Fendi's on eBay, not giving them to my 11yo to carry around.

ETA, I just googled and I see where Melissa says she worked 3 jobs to put herself through college, one of which was substitute teacher. That must be where the teacher thing came from.

A 20 year old Fendi isn't worth much unless it's a limited edition or otherwise still a desirable style. Typically purses don't increase that much in value unless it's 'special' and I doubt an 18 year old Tre would have a limited edition. 90% of designer purses that are over 10 years old -you are lucky if it's still worth what you paid retail. That's why I'll have to check it out on rewatch - I can spot a purse at a quarter paces which is why I'm shocked I didn't notice it the first time. Fendi the brand also isn't heavily collected like say Hermes.

I still call bravo sierra on her claim to be a legit sub w/o a college degree - just seems like a spin she's trying to create. Unless I'm way off base here, but I thought even substitutes have to have some sort of skills other than being 'in school.'

I'll take your word on the purse thing. My purses are all authentic Target LOL.

NJ sub requirements (today, no telling what they were back when Melissa did it):
The New Jersey Administrative Code permits the issuance of a county substitute certificate to those who complete a minimum of 60 semester-hour credits in an accredited college. Within the county of issuance, it authorizes day-to-day substitute teaching limited to 20 consecutive days' service in the same position in one district during the school year. A certificated teacher who is substitute teaching in an area outside the scope of his or her certificate is subject to the same limitation.

A vocational county substitute certificate may be granted on the basis of appropriate work experience in lieu of the credit requirement. Nearly 600 New Jersey districts negotiate for substitute teachers. Normally, substitute pay is set and reviewed periodically by the boards of education. Every three years NJEA does a survey of substitute pay policies district-by-district.

The previews hinted that Melissa isn't a Clownie fan and that kind of makes me like Melissa. Besides, who the hell calls someone else's husband to meet them for coffee for the express purpose of butting into their family business???

THEN, she makes it sound like poor dumb JoGo asked her to but in. Melissa is alot of things but she's not as dumb as her husband. I'm hoping this backfires on Clownie.

So did Lauren move into the apartment with her parents? It seemed like it. That whole thing is really strange.

ETA: Just watched the rerun of last night's show waiting for RHOOC and caught Clownie telling JoGo that when she and her sibs fight the first thing she and Big Absent Al tell their kids is, "Don't you be like us." Guess that lesson took - since her kids are all freeloading losers bankrupting Big Al's retirement.

And how about Clownie telling Melissa that the apartment wasn't decorated yet and it's "driving Al crazy." Sure Clownie, Big Al who has his own apartment above the Brownstone is all about the fake Tuscan decor.

I'm wondering if Fat AL didn't tell the Clown that he didn't want any more filming at the big house. I've always thought Fat Al wasn't really into the reality show thing. It brought too much publicity on him and he ended up losing his nice appointed position with the water commission and his freebie insurance package.

I think Melissa was doing her student teaching when she met JoeGo and told him how HARD it is and he told her she didn't have to work. I don't think she ever had her own classroom. Famewhorgas or some such site had more details on her lack of teaching.

The bag had a worn in/droopy look. I am glad that Tre gave her a hand-me-down, but 11 is still a little young. Not in my town mind you where the girls book bags are Longchamps totes. It kind of makes me mad because it is really just a "let them eat cake" mentality.

Great theory ISH! It makes perfect sense of why the apartment is in Hoboken too of all places - that way she can hope to keep her spawn on the show shilling their gross magical water. I can't believe she thought people would buy the 'wanted to see if we like apartment living' bullshit story - that takes a certain amount of arrogance. Of course calling us the viewers 'stupid people' in her talking head interviews takes something else. When is Andy going to get over her?

I don't think Melissa could have gotten her degree without completing the student teaching. I know at my kids schools, if a student teacher is there the regular teacher actually isn't supposed to be in the classroom at the time. I guess they want them to do it all themselves to learn how.

Doesn't really make much difference to me but I think her "teaching" was either subbing or student teaching, both of which would make sense if she was going for a teaching degree. I don't think she ever worked as an actual teacher after graduating from college though.

Did she graduate college? Not that everyone needs to do that but teachers certainly do - or at least people who call themselves teachers.

According to Famewhorgas, this is from Melissa's blog last season or the season before:
Quote:

“I think a big misconception about me and Joe is that we got married and were just rich and had everything we could ever want. Not true. When I first met Joe and for the first few years we were married, he owned a landscaping company. We did well for two newlyweds in our 20s, but nothing like we are now. We worked for it together. From the day we got engaged, Joe asked me to work in his office as his secretary and suggested not going into the school system to be a teacher. I had just graduated college and really wanted my own classroom. I did go to a teachers’ fair and got hired as a teacher, but after discussing it with Joe, I decided not to take the job and to work with him in his office. Joe felt like with me backing him up rather than have a stranger running things, we would make the business more successful. Well Joe was right. I worked in that office 9 to 5 Monday through Friday and did it.

Yes. I read she posted a picture of her college degree on her twitter at one time. I think it just says "Bachelor of Arts" on it, nothing more specific.

Ok I stand corrected on my comments re her 'teaching.'

Thanks for the info.

Finally catch the Fendi bag - it is kinda beat up and indeed 20 years old, and I love how Gia is carrying it all hanging open and it's clearly got nothing but a cell phone in that huge ass bag.

Oh and did anyone catch that Milania was highlighted as miss-spelled in Tre's I phone. I love it, she didn't even take the time to add her daughter's name to her phone dictionary.
