Count me among the ignorant -- I did not know that children die of autism. That shocks me. I hope someone tweets Tree to tell her ... Meanwhile, that whole comment was a smear against Jacqueline using Nick to hide behind after firing shots at Tree. She picks and chooses her moments to be overwhelmed. I'm not saying it's not overwhelming or serious, I'm just saying she seems to be able to set her upset aside when she has a beef against Tree -- like in the gym or in the clothing store on the phone. Maybe it's always "with her" but it didn't look like it. Ignorant people like Juicy and Tree (and me) might see that and think Cow is faking the whole thing. Which makes her being on screen with her son disgusting. Something that could be enormously positive for the audience becomes something that makes the whole situation worse. IF Cow is lying low and waiting for the reunion or some Bravo-written redemption, instead of coming right back at them and correcting their misinformation? Makes her scum. Yes, I said it: SCUM. I call her scum because she is scum. |

ISH, I agree with your entire post; you said what I feel so well. Especially this:
Except sadly, Andy won't can Jax precisely because of her storyline or he probably would have already. Jax was unstable before Nicholas's diagnosis - just watch the seasons with Asshat - and she hasn't gotten any better. As far as awareness, well I wouldn't ever look to a ho-wife show for awareness about anything except maybe bad plastic surgery and fashion don'ts. |

Totally agree with your posts. I didn't realize children could die from autism, either. Thanks for educating us, ranjake. A friend of mine who has a daughter with Aspergers posted this on FB and I cried while reading it. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/07/14/autistic-man-breaks-through-the-silence/2516527/ Edited by discomom, Jul 18 2013, 02:29 PM.

She won't because they need the money and he won't because he needs the storyline. I agree that this show shouldn't be a platform for awareness. And that video, disco, is why I can't bring myself to judge the parent of an autistic child. Even Cow. I don't watch NJ regularly so I'm not sure how often she's breaking down or doing these heinous, crazy things. Can somebody tell me if she's still drinking? Are they showing her drinking? Because I'll bet they stop showing that if they're planning on redeeming her. |

I may not have learned anything from this show about autism, BUT I have learned a lot from fellow posters who are living and dealing with it everyday. I have the utmost respect for you all!! I wish I could say the same for Jax.. Perhaps as time passes, she 'll come to realize that a reality show isn't anywhere close to real life and regret wasting time that could have been better spent with Nicholas instead of on nonsense like whether or not Melissa was a stripper or a gold digger.

Kids who die "of" Autism usually for 2 main reasons; if they manifest seizures with their Autism that become uncontrollable, and drowning due to/after wandering away. 7 of 10 children who are autistic who elope from home are eventually found to have drowned. Teresa might say that this is not organic to Autism, but it is. Seizures and elopement are paramount to the diagnosis. The number of Autistic children that die during childhood is actually quite high for these reasons. A child diagnosed with Autism has a reduced chance of surviving to adulthood than a neurotypical child. There's just an incredible amount of strain. Unfortunately, most kids on the spectrum do NOT become scientists. With kids who have seizures and are Autistic, this can be very tricky as they are usually sporadic and unpredictable. I really dislike the whole "cancer is worse" "autism is worse" etc. She DOES NOT know either way; and it's NOT a contest. I just hope people don't "Jacquelinize" Autism. Thanks for sharing that, Disco. I'm so blessed that Jake can speak, but IPODS ARE magic for Autistic kids, I swear :) Edited by ranjake, Jul 18 2013, 03:25 PM.

Jac is still drinking. After the way she kicked Asslee around for two seasons, I think this is SOP for Jac. Using her kids for a storyline. They do need the money, so I don't think she is going anywhere. |

Exactly Finestra! I think the reason some of us do not have any sympathy for Cow is that she has the history of using her children as her storyline. And not as a way to elevate or positively highlight her children but as a way to portray herself as the long suffering victim. First we had Ashley and all her "troubles", then it was her desperate efforts to have another child, and now Nick. Her whole life on this show has been spent "woo is meing" about her children while she stirs shit with the adults. I will give her credit for one thing, she has a talent for making herself bullet-proof. She has yet to be truly called out at a reunion and held to task for her wretched behavior. |

Nope. In fact the first thing we saw her say after Nicholas' latest episode was crying about her Parent Magazine gig. Jax in Parent Magazine as anything other than a warning to parents is just wrong. I too have learned so many things about so many subjects from you all, my Freshie Friend including raising my awareness about autism.
This needs to be said to Teresa; it's NOT a contest. That was the most appalling part of her blog to me. Everyone is right that she should have just STFU about Joe's 'in the moment' comments rather than make it worse. I would think that as a mother of four healthy (if hairy) kids she would be a little more grateful and a lot less thoughtless about her thought-out written remarks. |

Totally agree. But then, I find myself totally agreeing with all your posts. I know some people have a different reality and that there are deaths of autistic kids, but I don't think there's anything wrong with what Juicy said. He's operating with the knowledge most people have about autism - that it's a developmental delay/disorder* vs a death sentence like cancer. He was trying to bolster Jax I think by saying that this isn't some horrible thing with Nicholas. No one can be expected to know every single detail of a disease before they're allowed to comment on it to tell someone "it's not that bad." They can comment based on their own experiences. Some people will see it differently but that's how I see it. I don't see anything wrong with what he said and what Teresa said in her blog. *I know I'm not using all the medically correct terms, please don't rake me over the coals for that. |

I agree with you 100% Velvet. We all have areas that touch us more personally due to close experience, than they would others. It is very easy to get upset over the ignorance of others over these "touchy" areas; and I understand and honor that. As far as Juicy and Tre, I agree that in their own bumbling way they, more so Juicy, were trying to be sympathetic. And I guess this is one of the reasons why, I feel, the whole Autism storyline has no place on this show. If clear, accurate information is not going to be presented than more harm than good is being done. |

I'm ridiculously looking forward to watching JoGo's can o' hair (or as someone on Tw0p called him Kiwi Head) come off on everyone tonight. Like Melissa always reminds us, nothing about them is fake, lol. Edited by Cosmocrush, Jul 21 2013, 03:15 PM.

Does anyone really think that these people have made up? I mean, Dr. V. apparently comes on and Melissa says that JoeGo cries like a baby and we see Tre crying. But the tenor of their blogs is horrible. |
