You may be right about that Icy. But I do see Teresa letting her kids explore their interests. And I do think her girls will go to college. I think Teresa believes that college is a necessary step to the next level of conspicuous consumption. |

I am certain that Teresa loves her girls but it really bothers me that she acts like a friend rather than a parent to them from what I can see. She should have gotten on Milania for climbing the outside of that staircase and shooting her gun at the chandelier, not just because she could fall and get hurt but also because kids have got to learn that you just can't run around like a monkey on crack 24/7. We've seen Milania ass plant in the deli section of the grocery store FGS. WTF? And while it's funny it's also disgusting the way those kids talk to adults. Mine would be missing a few teeth if they tried to speak to me or their father that way. Well maybe not literally but they wouldn't say anything like that a second time. I also didn't like how Gia spoke to JoeGo. I know Tre is her mother and of course that's where her loyalty will lie but she said herself her mother talks to her about EVERYTHING. Again, she's a 12yo kid, not Tre's confidant. And if kids are making fun of her for things that happen on the show then maybe her parents shouldn't keep putting her ON the show. Hell she even gets her own scenes now! |

I'm not surprised she gets her own scenes. Remember season 1 or 2 when she tried to get her a proper agent? Hey we have one but I can see why others look down on it. Instead though she put her on her reality show and got her a really crummy agent out in Jersey with lots of BBB complaints who plants Gia on the front page of their website since she is on reality TV. I do think that they get everything that money can buy. They get every class under the sun. Live in a mcmansion. It's going to be really hard if the chips fall legally in the next year. Much easier to go up than down. I don't know how they'll take it. It can go either way. Some may push on to college and have a career without a man and the others may get preggos before 18, married etc. to escape their family |

But in the case of JoeGo, Gia is mentally older than him ... so I think it was okay. She was sort of parenting him. ;) ETA: Fin, I forgot that Tree went to college. I do think the girls will go, I just don't think their life goal will be a good career. I think Tree wants them to have a good family life above all else, with plenty of cash to make it comfortable. Hey, we all want that for our kids, the comfort and happy, I guess I just see lower expectations from Tree than from me, for instance. And when I promote "good career" I mean having something they do that they love to do that is about them and their intellect and creativity. Of course, the whole package is the ultimate goal. I want my nephew to have all that AND a family and comfort. Willy, I was bugged by her not saying 'don't climb up there' but I also suspect Bravo could have cut that out, like she said it, but they didn't show her saying it. Bravo editors are the evil housewife we never see in the flesh, but who does more shit than any of them. Edited by IcyAll, Aug 13 2013, 04:33 PM.

I liked that scene with uncle jo. I just think assume that Tre doesn't parent at all. They probably are never accountable for their actions. It could be that we only see that part of her on TV but I have a feeling that's the way they usually are. Kathy's daughter seems to be pretty grounded despite Rich weirdo. |

Ha! That would be funnier if it wasn't so true Icy. I hope the little girls will be fine and I think they will be as long as they stay out of Melissa's house since I too can soo see her putting them in the basement. They are tough but they are still little girls - I'm hoping somehow Tre escapes a prison sentence and is able to stay with them. |

A magazine cover I saw yesterday said "Melissa wants to raise the girls" if Tree and Juicy go to jail. I doubt it. |

I don't = I hope she goes even just for a little witty bit. Teach her a lesson in that pea brain of hers. If she doesn't then it just goes to show you that if you are celeb you can get away with stuff others can't. Martha went for much less. Ugh - Wonder if they made it up. Thought M and T were ok right now. T would go wild if she really said that. I'm sure she said she would if she had to. Maybe she did come right out and say it but she's no brainiac and could have been manipulated into that quote - or maybe they are on the outs and wants to stick it to her. I don't know what's real or not anymore with this clan. |

I don't see Teresa undermining her daughters' self esteem. I think Melissa may be more prone to that given her behavior at the beading playdate. As far as college goes, you never know what happens - if the girls are in an environment where learning and career is a focus, they might step up to the plate. They might be like Ramona and decide they never want to be dependent upon a man. Who knows. But after living in helicopter parenting mecca and seeing the outcome, Teresa's kids are going to better equipped to deal with challenges and setbacks if they don't break their necks in the meantime. I can't tell you how many kids I have heard of NOT returning to college this year because of drug and alcohol problems because they were so stressed and overwhelmed that they couldn't deal and ending up drinking or doing drugs too much. Their parents solved every problem, confronted every teacher etc for them. Now they don't have the confidence to deal with any issue on their own. Their parents never let them skin their knees and learn to deal. |

I heard about parents doing that as well Fin. Used to when I was on Urban Baby often. I couldn't believe it. I'm sure it's no different than the past - always lots of kids partying way too hard but the parents didn't interfere as often. Strange things these days. Make you feel bad if you aren't really involved. I feel guilty sometimes that I don't join the PTA, run for office and be the class mom. |

I agree Fin. I've heard the same stories.
Icy, she hinted at this on WWHL too without actually saying it. Something like, "Joe and I will always be there for the girls." Pfffft. I'd rather see Juicy's parents take them if it's short term. Miliania clearly takes after her paternal Granddad, lol. And they wouldn't have to compete with Antonia and two boys for attention. And every kid doesn't need to grow up to be an engineer or doctor or lawyer to be happy or successful. I kind of doubt there is any premium on education with this crowd anyway. Better to learn how to be kind and be honest - something no one on this show seems capable of doing though. Edited by Cosmocrush, Aug 13 2013, 05:28 PM.

I shouldn't have used doctor/lawyer, it's so stereotypical. I just mean a career that makes them happy in their work: for some people that's home life. For me, it's photography and singing. I haven't found a way to make them pay, but I pursue them somewhat regardless of family. It's not about them, though they enjoy what I do at times, it's about me. I think true independence means being able to be happy without anyone else's help -- not just making money or fighting your own battles. I guess it's a whole ball of wax, but ultimately, I hope those girls find activities that personally satisfy them -- things that don't need anyone else's approval or say-so. I hope the same for my nephew, but now I'm worried I'm being a helicopter "parent" - LOL ... uh, I helped him find out how to build a pyramid in Minecraft, but I made him build it himself.* Is that good? ;) * i.e., what we're doing today while I also chat here. I agree Icy. It's too bad about the little girls, but I'm hoping for the best while rooting for their parents to have to face some serious consequences of their actions; like losing their house for one thing. I guess I'm hoping for two opposite things. |

I bet that the tabloids said, "Would you take the girls?" "yes of course, we would love to have them." I think if she had said "No" it would have been a lot worse. |

I've had mothers call my office asking if we're hiring and say they're calling for their adult son or daughter. Um, even if we were we wouldn't be hiring anyone who has to have Mommy call to ask about job openings for them. My first question to my own kids, when they're complaining about a teacher is always "What did the teacher say when you talked to them about this?" If they didn't then I tell them if it's important then they need to do that. Otherwise they will still suffer the consequences from me of getting the F or whatever the problem is. Now if they've tried to talk to the teacher and aren't getting anywhere then I will intervene but I also make it clear to my kid they had better be telling me the full story before I go in guns blazing LOL. I know a lot of people don't care for Kathy but I think out of all of them she's the one I'd hang out with IRL. I think she is the most genuine of them all and I also think she has raised her kids well so far. I honestly think she'd do a great job with Tre's girls, as long as Richie isn't around too much. |
