It doesn't matter to me that Lauren lost weight or even how she lost weight. She's still a 23 year old woman who is still at home and not in school or working. She quit her makeup business after one day. Fat or thin, this girl needs to start her life. A life away from Clownie and for my sake away from the cameras.

All I hear her do is bitch and moan about her weight and her brothers leaving. She bitches when the Gorgas/Juicys are included in a show that is about them for crying out loud. I cut her some slack because Clownie is truly awful to Lauren but at some point Lauren needs to do something. Anything besides just waiting around for the son of a deli owner to marry her on TV or announce to the world that she "wants to be rich." ^o)

It amazes me that Clownie can position herself as the expert on parenting when Lauren has completely stalled out - or more accurately never got going. Don't even get me started on those two boys.

It blows my mind that those ppl have 2 homes. I mean, people who can actually read still can't afford to own a house (well, I guess now neither can the Gorgas).

I bet Lauren gets paid by bravo and she probably makes more than my husband. Gross but the way it is. She doesn't have to pay rent and can bank it. If she'd move out shed get less screen time and that doesn't work for famewhores in general

I've struggled with my weight my whole life (am now in my early 40s.) I was married and had children in my 20s, leaving me little to no time to properly work out. That's when I really packed on the pounds. I know how difficult weight loss can be, trust me. Now that the kids are grown a bit, I dedicated myself to a strict diet and lost 50 lbs so far. It's far harder now than it was 20 years ago. So yeah, I get how hard it is. BUT...I have no sympathy for Lauren. She's in her 20s, living at home with no responsibilities. She could have lost that weight on her own without the surgery, I have no doubts about it. I really don't care that she can afford a shortcut, but to me it looks like a pattern of taking the easy way out, be it weight loss, skipping out on your business the day after the grand opening, and generally being content as a slug while looking down your nose on everyone else.

I so agree. To have the luxury of lolling around home knowing mom and dad are picking up the tab...not having to report to work. Today is a gorgeous day in Bergen County, if I didn't have to haul my sizeable ass to work, I'd love to take a long bike ride in one of the local parks or take a stroll through my little town. She could take Clownie and the cud chewer with her, by the end of the summer she'd look great.

I bet she's already sold her "weight-loss journey" complete with pics!! to some tabloid.

She can't move out, Clownie needs someone to pontificate to all day. Albie and Chris are busy setting the world on fire, Lauren's just setting around.

I personally feel that Lauren is going to blow it with the lap band. 30 pounds in 9 months, with working out 2hours a day? BS. Lauren, honey, you ain't following your diet...
I know that gastric bypass is more severe than lap band, but I lost 100 pounds in 6 months and worked out 1/2hour (took a half hour walk) once daily, plus some light weight exercises. I was 48, she's what... 23?
Just because you have these procedures, it is not the end. It is a tool, and you HAVE to eat properly, kick bad habits ( which will come back, hence the 15 I gained back and I'm busting my butt on the treadmill now to get rid of them!) and exercise. Will she be in the gym 2 hours every day once she loses? Even the winners of the Biggest Loser will say they gained some weight back once they weren't working out 6 hours a day.

OK, didn't mean to hijack the thread. Back to snark...

So, Melissa "We pay our bills" Gorga has both houses up for sale.Careful with that gloating, girl, karma's a bitch.

What struck me is that she's already had it loosened. The hell? The only reason you would do that is because you want to be able to fit more food in. The stomach stretches out eventually. I'm on the "this is pretty drastic" given her age and the fact that she is really not that fat. She's hardly morbidly obese, and this seems more vanity than health.

I've known a couple of people who had severe issues from this surgery as well, complications, not uncommon, but serious. It's an important surgery for some to have, and worth the risks. For a young girl with 40 pounds or so to lose? WTF? She doesn't need to be a size 2 to be healthy, and she honestly didn't look that far away from a healthy size 6 or 8 to me. Her mother is whack to allow or encourage this.

As for the fat arms? Sometimes that is a little bit genetics. Yes, you can tone them up a bit, but big arms are probably the hardest thing to change, in my experience. I know a couple of size 2-7 women who still cover their arms because they don't have that popular "look" to them.

My point wasn't that Lauren isn't making any money - it was that she isn't doing anything. Well, besides complaining about everything and making sure her face is on TV as much as possible. And if she is enjoying the fame then she needs to do something worth watching.

I think Lauren needs to get away from Clownie and start her life already.

I personally know two people who died after having that surgery and another (through a friend's report) who hated that she'd had it, regretted it deeply. And of course, Carnie Wilson had it and has gained a lot back -- after making a ton of money promoting it. It's not a cure; but I see it as a possible "removal of tumor" type of surgery. Get "being healthy and thin" established and work to protect that; not work for something that is intangible.

She is damn young for it. But they believe she takes after her father -- and perhaps there are other fambily members who are older who look like Lauren who never succeeded ...

ITA with all else said about her. Basically there's not one single member of that fambily I like or want to watch or care about. I wouldn't watch if it was just them. Clownie, of course, is the worst of the bunch.

Anyone know if Dina's show is airing and what channel?

She says she loosened it in order to lose the "last" thirty pounds on her own. If she couldn't loose the first thirty-five on her own I doubt she'll lose 30. Not if her life consists of sitting around mommy's house eating semi italian food, or going to her bofriend's family deli and gorging on mozzarella.

Yes to all of this.

Before Mr. V and I got married I was trying to lose about 10 lbs and I was stuck. My doc gave me diet pills and said I couldn't be on them more than 30 days. Well truth be told, that shit was fucking miserable because I was like a meth addict, awake 24/7, but I lost the 10 lbs and then some. Of course it came back, but I fit into my dress.

The reality of that experiment was that there is no magic pill. That pill killed my appetite, so yes, eating 500 calories a day did the trick and I lost the weight. If I could have managed that on my own, without the pill, I would have had the same results. So even at 37 yrs old with a slowed metabolism, it IS POSSIBLE. Maybe I could have cut to 1200 calories and the loss would have been slower but this is basic science, eat less food, expend more calories, weight comes off. As time passes and the body gets used to it you just have to change up the formula, workout a little more, split the workouts, eat a little less, etc. The last 10, 20 lbs are the worst, but honestly? Fuck it. When I'm within 10 lbs of my goal weight I'm good. Because I'd rather have the 10 extra lbs and not have to pass up food.

anyway, I'm on the fuck-you Lauren train. She's not a role model at all. Jeana Keough tried, got a trainer, did Jackier Warner's workout show, she tried. Plus she is older and had 3 kids by then, and I would have had no judgment for her method to weight loss had she chose the lap band. But Lauren? bitch please.

Yes, I know one who died, and another who have life-long serious issues from lap band. It's not like getting botox or fake boobs!

If you eat too many meatballs at first you would just throw them up, eventually your stomach will stretch to it's old size if you keep over-eating. It's a tool (and a pricey and dangerous one) not a cure.
