I really don't know who they would appoint as guardians for their kids if they both went to jail. I really don't think it would be Melissa and Joe. Tre would want her parents but they really are too old and her father's health too bad for them to really do it. Maybe Joe's brother and his wife? You also have to remember that it's not like someone died and there is life insurance money for these kids. Whoever takes them in will also probably have to absorb quite a bit of the cost that goes into raising 4 young girls. If they are both in prison there is no income, other than maybe residuals from RHONJ reruns and profits from sales of books that are already out. The court might allow a small percentage of that income to go towards caring for the children but most of it will go to repay everything I would think. I hope that they aren't in such denial that they aren't even seriously discussing what will happen to the kids and getting POA's in place now. Does anyone know, assuming they are found guilty and sentenced to prison, what kind of time frame we're looking at? Like when would they be going to jail? |

This was posted at TWOP. It's Juicy's dad. Giving some 'what for' to the papps when they arrived home after court. LOL. So crude for an old fogey, yet so hilarious. This is where Milania gets it. Posted Image I know a lot of you think the posters at TWOP are maroons, but if they're anything, they're up to the minute with details and pictures. I also found this hilarious:

Call me a softy, a patsy, a moron, whatever, but I find this all incredibly sad. I do not even see snark potential in it. Yep, I know it was all self-inflicted on the Guidice's part, but still to me it is a sad state of affairs. Those taking joy in the situation - looking at you Kim G - best watch out for the karma train heading their way.

They seem like the likely choice. Another family member to add to Bravo's dysfunctional NJ mix. I can totally see Bravo inking a deal with Teresa and Joe to allow filming with the kids while they're in jail. Assuming they both go at the same time. To keep the money rolling in. I'm sure viewers would stay tuned. I made a comment on TWOP about the kids being hired to help the storyline. That maybe Joe & Melissa, or Juicy's brother or maybe even CAROLINE would take them in. They will need storylines if Tree goes away.* Someone reminded me that Teresa's children are girls. So Caroline wouldn't be interested. *ETA: NOT that I think this would be a good thing. Just that I believe it is certainly a possibility considering Bravo's penchant for exploiting the children. Nor is there a shortage of people who would watch it. I feel exactly the same way. I don't think I can watch the rest of the season. I will read the board. I cannot even believe that there is some chance that he'll get deported -- I read that the federal government does this actively, and that if Joe is convicted of anything, or pleas to anything totaling anything over $10k in back taxes (as Fin wrote) - he will be deported. With 4 kids under 11. I agree that it's a different, fucked up moral universe. And they intentionally took money, and I don't exonerate that. But this is incredibly sad. Maybe the number of kids that love those parents is getting me. This is a different kind of bad but it reminds me of how I felt when I went to Dlisted and saw that Russell Armstrong had killed himself. This is awful stuff. |

You all are cracking me up. I just watched her WWHL episode and it boogles my mind. I'm firmly team Tre - even with all her warts and all. I hate the others that much and I find her entertaining as all get out (courtesy of Juicy, Milania and her stupidity). I could see the girls going to Kathy before Missy and Joe. I just picture Missy making 'em live in the basement and work for their meals. She has a real mean streak. Tre isn't innocent, I'm not blind. My mouth is still agape at all the news I'm reading. On a shallow note Tre's ass looks fab in that white suit. She looked good. I never realized that she was taller than juicy. At least with the big ass heels they all wear. Totally agree. I think there's something to what Cosmo said - I'd like to see the others go down. I actually think Jax's kids WOULD be better off if she went to jail but this seems just so sad. I can't believe they did this, I really can't. Then to know that you have this skeleton in your closet and to go on a reality show? They had to think that no one would ever figure out what they did. Frankly I find the limit of $10,000 to be the deportation trigger to be ridiculous when there are plenty of violent crimes where criminals don't get deported. Fuck the money, I'd rather deport the criminals here illegally who rape/beat/maim/kill others. It's a fucked up system. |

When Tree kissed Juicy at the end of the last episode, she had to stoop to do it. I'm with ya, Dilbert and Camo: I'm very sad for Tree and Juicy. I believe they did it all - but I believe it's part of their culture ... and I don't mean Italian, I mean that community of people who take the short cuts to the "American Dream" and think "everyone does it" ... Clownie and Al, Cow and Chris, Missy and JoeGo -- they've all done it. I'd say Richie Notrich has done it when he could, but since he's not Italian, I doubt he'd be allowed in as easily. Lucky for him. Lucky for Kathy. Those kids would go to Juicy's brother and SIL, I'm sure. Funny -- they all vilified Tree supposedly because she told the truth about her brother. But she didn't. If it would get her a reduced sentence or lesser charges? I hope she'd do it now. He's gonna lose Melissa and the kids anyway, I'd bet the house on it. And why do I have this feeling that all this is coming from wannabes? Those women like that lawyer and Kim G. who have money and influence and the interest to do something like this, with an end game to take over for Tree on the show ... If I lived in NJ and had a mansion and that lifestyle -- NOTHING ON THE PLANET EARTH could convince me to go on the show!! I don't see how this franchise can survive this. But Bravo has shocked me before. I sort of wish Tree, Juicy, the girls, her Papa and Mama and his Papa and Mama would uproot and bolt to Italy and hide out for the rest of their lives. I wouldn't blame them. ETA: I was typing while you posted, Velvet - the deportation would only happen AFTER Juicy served his sentence. And if it's 50 years, then he'd die in jail in America anyway. Good god Icy. I didn't even think of that being how deportation would work. My understanding is that the $10k wouldn't be relevant to taxes/back taxes but rather to the direct fraud of the loans. And it reads as if there won't be too much of an issue in proving that. Velvet, thank you for writing what I didn't even realize I believed 'til I read it -- I think that the Signature Apparel case is also incredibly serious, involved shareholders (right? public co?), involved a more aware Jax even though she's pretty lazy and doofy in lots of ways - and that unlike Teresa's daughters, Jax's kids might be better off with a different loving adult. |

I think out of the entire cast, the only people not rejoicing and gloating are Kathy and Rosie. This is sad. I feel for Gia because she knows what's going on, I'm sure. I wuvver oid juicy and teresa will rat anyone out. I know I most certainly would. That lawyer, Monica Chicon or whatever, basically said she helped this happen and was fielding calls at her office at one time. Even if I personally hated Tre, I wouldn't do that. How can you hate someone that much you overlook those girls? |

Todays NYPost take: New York Post ‘Real’ justice BY TARA PALMERI and REUVON FENTON Last Updated: 2:42 AM, July 31, 2013 Posted: 2:18 AM, July 31, 2013 The knives are out for table-flipping reality star Teresa Giudice and her meathead husband, Joe. The crass, lavish-living couple — who’ve made more enemies than friends on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey” — appeared in Newark federal court yesterday on tax-, mail- and wire-fraud charges that could land them in jail for 55 years — as their enemies celebrated their misfortune. “There is a God!” arch nemesis Kim “Kim G” Granatell told The Post. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.” Granatell said Teresa bullied her on the show because she criticized the Giudices for their spending on lavish parties, a $140,000 Maserati, home furnishings and trips despite filing for bankruptcy in 2009. She once offered to buy all of Teresa’s possessions if her house went into foreclosure so she could resell them on eBay. “We were on the show together, and Teresa did not want me around because she knew I knew too much,” said Granatell, who appeared on “Real Housewives of New Jersey” for two seasons. Granatell suspects the feds started following the couple — who’ve been accused of bilking four banks out of nearly $5 million in mortgages using fake tax forms and other bogus paperwork — after Joe’s former business partner, Joe Mastropole, sued him for forging his signature on a mortgage application in 2007. Joe Giudice owed Mastropole nearly $300,000 and confessed to forging Mastropole’s signature, the notary’s signature and the notary’s seal. Teresa filed for bankruptcy shortly after. “She hated me because she knew I knew what she was about,” said Granatell. “That she was living in a broken-down house and her back yard was on a highway,” Granatell said of the couple’s mansion in Towaco that the couple added on to as their wealth increased. “We knew what she was doing, she ruined a lot of businesses.” The scene outside of the New Jersey courthouse was made for reality TV. Joe’s parents, who co-signed a $500,000 bond to free the couple with four daughters, lashed out at reporters, telling them to “go to hell.” His elderly mother, Filomena, slapped a 1010 WINS reporter’s microphone and shouted obscenities. When asked if she was worried about her son, she shot back, “None of your f--king business.” Joe faces being deported to Italy if he is found guilty of just one of the 39 counts in the indictment, prosecutors said — as it emerged yesterday that he is not a US citizen. Meanwhile, Teresa’s lawyer, Henry Klingeman, said she’s being targeted because of her celebrity status. He said he was concerned how her belligerent image on the show might influence the jury. Oh, and Linda Stasi, who is the Post's TV critic, and good, called on Bravo to cancel the show immediately. She's written columns about it before, as well as Jersey Shore, saying they feed into Italian-American negative stereotypes. She calls Andy to task! http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/tv/real_gross_W4Q0odsLHojjeuyLQvaQVM Edited by weaver, Jul 31 2013, 07:12 AM.

They may have to split the kids up. That would be a tragedy. Taking on 4 kids at is difficult. There are no residuals for reality shows. That's why they can keep rerunning them cheaply and it costs them so little to make. Unfortunately, that is the reason there are so many on TV. Networks don't want to invest in real TV anymore because production costs. Used to be just cable doing reality TV but for a couple of shows. Amazing race is expensive but that's pretty much it. I do not think either of them will get 30 years. Most people don't. Whether they were targeted for their celebrity or not should not matter. They flaunted it and committed the crimes. If anything their celebrity will help them in court. Usually does. That part disgusts me about celebrities. I think the rest of the cast are at home shredding documents. No time to gloat. |

They are going to have to deal with the gov't to get less than the mandatory minimums. So far, the papers have quoted the maximums. I don't know what the lower end is. I don't know if these are crimes that can run concurrently. The Fed. Sentencing Guidelines are draconian. Even Rehnquist said they needed to be reworked. Under amendments to the Patriot Act, deportation may be mandatory. I wonder what kind of set up the Giudice's have in Italy? Are they planning on letting Joe take the fall with the understanding that they will all end up in Italy eventually? They are going to have to cooperate or go to trial. Based on the paper trail, I don't see them going to trial. I think Pete Giudice and parents will take the girls if both Tre and Juicy end up in jail. They are really a family. We have people in our town who committed a similar fraud and the wife and husband did alternating jail time. In fact, it seemed that the jail time wasn't even consecutive - like he would go in for a month and be out a month. It was weird. |
