Ick. Bravo will pay it for her to keep her on tv and out of jail. It's a get out of jail free card because she's a celeb. |

Another vote for pay it....though based on the seriousness of the charges I wonder if part of the deal is to spill on Juicy. |

Part of the deal might be to spill on the bank or mortgage company. It really might be the beginning of a bigger investigation. I would bet that the Giudice's weren't the only ones a that bank getting loans in that way. |

Icy you think it sets a good example for a celebrity to get off with a buck? It think it's disgusting. I don't care. I bet there are many non famous individuals who did the same but because they aren't on tv they go to prison. She get's out and puts her disgusting mug on TV and keeps earning money while the others get tossed in jail. Makes me sick. In a few years she'll actually own a rolls and her kids will be even more spoiled. ICK. They should make her get off tv at the very least. It's simply not fair. Of course nobody said life is fair but it's blatently obvious that she would be getting off easy not because of the children but because of her fame. |

Talk to JP Morgan Chase who are paying their way out with 12 Billion - no one in jail and they are real criminals too. They made like 635 Billion dollars off of worthless mortgage backed securities. 12 billion is a drop in the bucket.

I know- You have to know I hate Goldman S. What a joke slap on the wrist they got. Gross. Jamie D is a liar and a cheat- brilliant though. I totally agree. Ivan Bosky went to jail. So then everyone should get off - is that the opinion? If you aren't famous too. Everyone gets a pass. They did have a chance though. Why didn't they tell the truth on their bankruptcy petition? All of us can file. You and me and the famous! They lied after filing. Edited by cccharley, Nov 21 2013, 07:31 PM.

No, but the law should be fair and it's not -- just because we know who they are doesn't mean they deserve extra punishment, and I think the NJ DA is pursuing them to MAKE THEM AN EXAMPLE -- otherwise he would have allowed a plea bargain. |

OK - so that's what you believe. I don't. I bet there are quite a few people who break the law like that and go to prison - I know of 2 myself who pissed off the IRS. My friend's dad went to prison for 4 years - a fancy one but still went away. Lost everything. Lied on his business taxes. I don't need anyone to tell me that they are only going after them bc they are famous. People do go to prison. And his mother had died - and he had 3 children. He still went to jail. So I don't think she get a pass because she acts stupid. I wish they would ship JG off to Italy where he belongs, take away that house and she gets some kind of sentence in a prison. Sorry I feel nothing for them. Bunch of crooks. Ick they make me sick. Edited by cccharley, Nov 21 2013, 09:53 PM.

I tend to agree with cc on this. The time for Teresa (and Juicy) to think about those little girls was when they were signing all the fraudulent documents and showboating all over Bravo. If they offer Teresa a deal then of course she should take it. Of course this will allow her to think she's done nothing wrong though. The Goldman Sachs situation is outrageous but irrelevant in my opinion. Except to signal that if you are getting money illegally be sure and hold about 10% back for fines to keep you out of jail whether a dumbass criminal on a reality show or a bank that's "too big to fail." Pffft. |

One would have to wonder where she would even get $1M to pay a fine? Would she also have to forfeit everything purchased with all of the ill gotten money, including her re-done house? |

You're right, CCC - real people do get caught and do go to jail, not just celebrities. But T&J are being pursued in the press as well as in their personal. This is a media case. Your friend went for four years and they're talking 10 for Juicy besides deportation -- it's because he not only did it (IF he did; wanna give the innocent their rights to trial, etc.) but because they were bragging about their lives ON TV. That Monica Chagon or whatever her name is GOT PISSED because she was dissed on the show. So for that aspect at least, I think they deserve a little break. I suspect part of the deal must involve jail time or admission of guilt by Juicy. |

Most people in federal court will eventually plea because so many people believe that if the fed govt arrested you, then you have to be guilty, the gov't doesn't waste their time/resources yadda yadda. But it isn't always true. I know someone who just tried a huge fraud case with 5 defendants in the Southern District of NY which is the premier fed district court in the country - best AUSAs. After 10 weeks of trial, the gov't didn't get one conviction on any of the 9 counts. 3 full acquittals, and 2 hung with the jury 8-3 in favor in acquittal. They had literally over 1 million of pieces of paperwork for evidence. Not all of it was used, but the gov't felt they had a very strong case. The jury acquitted in part because they didn't like the gov't witnesses who were all rats/cooperators and because intent is a fluid concept. It would be the jury's perception of Teresa if she chose to testify. She has very poor command of the English language, and I can see how people would believe that she is a traditional wife who signs what her husband tells her to sign without even looking at it. They could be offering her a deal bc the case is kind of weak against her, or they want her to flip and testify against someone else like Juicy or an even bigger fish that has yet to be charged. (There was clearly a pattern here, and I find it hard to believe that the mortgage person they dealt with hadn't done similar things.) They won't tell us initially if she is cooperating. We will only know that if eventually she testifies against someone at a trial down the road. Or she could be seeking a deal because the case is strong against her. I think if they have offered her a no-jail deal, she should write the check and run. As for where she would get the money, book sales? Bravo salary is reportedly $500k, a loan (lol), borrow from family? I don't know. Maybe they do payment plans. If she signs on for three more seasons with Bravo, they might accept that. I wonder if there will be restitution in addition to the fine. Edited by Finestra, Nov 22 2013, 09:35 AM.

I thought they were working towards satisfying their debtors? That might be a weakness in the case, in fact -- no victims who can complain, because they all accepted their own sorts of pleas. AND the fact that the bankruptcy was retracted has to factor in, don't ya think? |
