I don't know. Martha Stewart went to jail. But I can't see Teresa and Joe agreeing to both go to jail at the same time, so maybe Radar has it right? Her parents are too old to take care of the kids. Or maybe Radar is wrong and Joe's brother will?

I can see her being on 5 year's probation and paying restitution and a fine with him going to the pokey. We had neighbors that went in for fraud and they were in on weekends and the like. He went in for months at a time. But every once in a while he was out. it was weird. It was the feds too. They were doing mortgages for the polish community. Both lawyers.
I have an old bf who went to jail on the weekends. I assume it was fraud but it wasn't anything close to what they did or the amount. It was something in the jewelry business but way lower scale so he went in every weekend for awhile. So weird.

Hmm. She looks the same to me, though, but I'm not good at spotting plastic surgery.
She doesn't look too different to me either. They can airbrush a shot though. perhaps she's a little less tan. She still has her horrible forehead. I can barely look at them. Guess that's how you look when you live like a queen but can only afford to live like a serf.

Yeah, I agree with CCC - it's retouching or heavy makeup. One thing I noticed on RHOBH this week with Brandi was bad sun damage on her forehead. Tree tans too much and probably has to wear lots of concealer. Her nose looks particularly contoured.

I'm the only one? I don't want either of them to go to jail.

I'm sure you're not the only one but I want them both in jail - you know that already. If MS can go to jail so can Tre - I think for me it goes back to her comment on not wanting to live in a house that was already occupied by a family prior to herself. It hit me what a mental case she was. I will never get over it. Nothing would make me happier than to see her in a little dirty cell even if it's just for 6 months.

I certainly hope if she does go to jail they don't allow filming. That would just make it a joke. I don't know if they ever allow that even to collect money for the state. I would be mortified.

The only reason I don't want them to go to jail is because it will give Clownie and Melissa so much satisfaction and basically I don't want to give those shrews anything to gloat about. They will be insufferably smug.

I have a soft spot for Juicy even though he is a criminal. He is so much better than that whiny little mama's boy fidget Joe Gorga. Attention seeking little pissant that he is.

I still cling to my notion that Martha was not guilty, but simply unpopular.

I think the thing that irritates me the most about all of the Giudice legal drama is that we keep seeing pics of them out and about still living the high life. I really have no idea what kind of LEGIT money Tre is pulling in nowadays but it really rankles that she is still going on vacations, going to expensive events in front row seats, showing up in designer clothes, still living in that huge house. If she manages to stay out of jail she needs to be living in a 4 bedroom 2500 sq ft house in the 'burbs and driving a minivan. Hopefully a "used" house!

Willy I bet they are underwater in that house and that is one of the reasons they aren't selling it right now. The market died after they built it and they have all of those "mortgages" on it too I bet!

Being that she is a reality star, they get paid for appearances and get comped to many events. Even if she was poor, she'd be out and about looking fab in free clothes. No going back now.

then she should do a short sale. I'm with Willy - we may stand alone. It's gross that she goes out and flaunts wealth that she doesn't have. I understand (I guess) in the beginning but not now that she's indicted she should be living low. If anything not even smiling like life is great at the camera. Guess she knows since she's on tv she will get a scott free - she makes me sick

regarding the reality show stuff- NO - I disagree entirely. Sonja can do it - she's not on trial. If you are on trial and your dh may get sent out of the country you don't do what you are doing. Then again she wears the ugliest clothes ever. Sorry she just gives me the shivers. Let's not forget about the 100s of classes they give their 4 kids. They get it all. Is Bravo paying? If so then that's the deal but if not they have to cut back on their clothes and their extracurricular activities including vacations that have nothing to do with the network. Sorry but that's how it works when you broke the law by milestones. This isn't slightly living above your means or filing bankruptcy which every american is entitled to do . They are criminals. Others may be considered criminals as well but on such a lower scale they don't even rate.

Well we can't forget that they are innocent until they plead, - hey - they were supposed to take a plea today.

They have 4 daughters. They don't have to walk around in sack cloth and ashes. When they go to jail, there is plenty of time for that. Martha didn't ditch her houses nor did any other criminal in this country. And like I said, unless they have just plead guilty, they have the presumption of innocence just like any of us would have. I am sure they are trying to keep life as normal as possible for their girls.

Everything that Teresa has been doing on twitter is tied to the show or tied to promoting her product = working/bringing in money to support her family. Even the photo she just posted of her daughter I am sure is comped/paid for to promote the photographer. The other things that she has been doing is going to her kids soccer/basketball games and cheerleading competitions. They do have nights out with friends for dinner. I wonder how many of those are going to air next season on the show. Maybe she shouldn't be so visible, but then she wouldn't be selling the Fabellini and they would have no income whatsoever. So if you want them to pay any restitution, that won't even be possible.

Here's the new story. I still think Teresa will put on a brave front tomorrow. Or maybe you will get the tears.

Quote:

Teresa and Joe Giudice, two of the stars of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New Jersey" show, are expected to appear in federal court in Newark Tuesday morning over mortgage and bankruptcy fraud charges.

The Record reported last week that the couple has agreed to plead guilty to the charges under a deal that would send them both to prison.

They are scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas at 10:30 a.m.

Under their plea agreement and per sentencing guidelines for those charges, Teresa Giudice would spend less than two years in prison, while Joe Giudice would spend a minimum of three years behind bars, The Record reported.

The Giudices were charged last year in a 41-count indictment that accuses them of lying to banks for years in order to win millions of dollars in mortgages and other loans and then hiding assets and income during a two-year bankruptcy proceedings.

Prosecutors also accused Joe Giudice of not filing federal tax returns between 2004 to 2008 despite the fact that he earned $1 million over that time period.

The Montville couple previously requested separate trials, but prosecutors required both of them to plead guilty to take the deal, The Record reported.

I don't know if Tre is underwater in the house but they also still own a shore house. Seems to me it would be much easier for them to pay restitution if they sold the shore house and the mansion and bought one home that was MUCH cheaper. I believe the court papers said that they are current on their mansion payments. No clue what that mortgage runs but let's just say $20k/mo if taxes and insurance are escrowed in there. Well if they were to downsize to a regular house with let's say a $2,500/mo mortgage that $17,500/mo can now go towards repaying all of the places they defrauded.

As for Martha, she was charged with 9 counts originally and convicted of 3. That's small potatoes compared to Tre's 41+ counts. It also looks like the total Martha had to pay in fines and penalties was about $250k. No telling if it's an accurate amount right now but I've seen reports saying Tre will have to pay $11m in restitution. So if Martha was able to pay that without selling her house, which I'm sure she could, then there was no reason to sell it. She also didn't obtain the mortgage on her home under fraudulent circumstances.

Willy are their mortgage payment on that chateau juicy really 20K a month? - that has to be a huge mortgage! But is the shore house mortgaged too?

I wouldn't sell my main residence and uproot my kids out of school and make them start at a new school just to appease viewers. I really wouldn't. It will be hard enough for them when I "go away." My main concern would be my kids and trying to keep things consistent for them. After I came out of the pokey, I would downsize in the same community. I don't think Teresa and Joe really feel any shame.

I would start by selling the shore house. And the boat. I doubt they own any of the cars. I bet her handbags are all fakes by now. If she has any real jewelry, she should sell that too.

I thought the bulk of the mortgages were on the investment properties - the rental units and the flips.
