From this morning:
And the prosecutor is opposing home detention:
I think if the prosecutor usually opposes, the judge if they are law and order types, usually agrees. And the judge earlier said that Teresa would serve 1st if there was to be jail time. Edited by Finestra, Oct 2 2014, 03:55 PM.

This is taking quite a while. I really didn't expect a sentencing to take this long. |

Well they are tweeting 15 months. I don't know what that means. I guess 15 months in, but I don't know if that means extra time out. |

If I was her, I'd want to start now and get it over with. Oleander - for some reason, I feel bad, too. I'd much rather see them broke than in jail. |

I guess they don't have to start serving immediately? Which is good for the Girls. It's very sad- but they DID this. I'm glad that the sentences will be staggered- again- for the Girls. CRAZY if they were still lying in their sentencing papers! Maybe they'll let them both start after the Christmas Holidays? (I don't know how this stuff works.) The Lauritas better hurry up and come clean. |

Ok, Some know-it-all over at PTV, (an believe me there are a few who were actually fighting with each other over who knew more) said that you get 45 days to report, so it doesn't look like they make it till Thanksgiving. ETA - well they are wrong - nah na nah na poo poo. The nj.com reporter said that Teresa must report by Jan 5th. Teresa gets 15 months, plus 2 years probation plus and $8,000 fine. Plus they still owe their creditors I think. I wonder if they can declare bankruptcy now? Lol. I know it's not funny, but criminal defense attys. get paid up front because they know they will never see a dime once their clients go in. I wonder if any of the creditors get their $ back. Someone said that the banks get their money first. Then the smaller creditors. I think it should be the other way around especially since the banks were a big part of the problem too, writing those mortgages for people who had no shot of ever repaying them. I am glad it's over. I am sick of all the bitching about them being non-tax paying felons. I kind of feel sorry for them too. Dopes. I still have a soft spot for Juicy. But hey, it is what it is. I just saw the news and over the past few days. I have a heart too Fin but not for them - liars and I just can't get over Tre's comment from the season she said she couldn't live in anybody else's home. I wish she got more. She won't be in for 15 months. She goes first and then Joe. So there you go - steal all you want if you are famous and you still can stay home with your kids. Now - do not think I don't feel horribly for these children but it just sets the same example as usual - if you got a name you don't pay the piper the same was as if you don't have a name. So I assume that since Tre has to comfy prison she will not film with Bravo. Am I correct or will they let her film and earn money while she is in prison? I can't wait till she sleeps on that bed after her nasty attitude about used homes. I think she'll get out way earlier than 15 months by being a model prisoner but I really hope not. I know I sound harsh but they did BAD. This is a nothing sentence. |

Well I think Rosie should move in with Joe to raise the girls while Tre goes "away." Bravo films it, Joe can make money to pay back the creditors. Teresa must be in shock! She probably thought she had home detention locked up. |

Fin do you think that the sentence wasn't discussed prior to sentencing ? I'm not a lawyer so I don't know. I figured it was all done during the deal making stage but all the more shocking if she didn't know and then got sent away. Are you certain she didn't know since they had already decided that one parent would get to stay at home?

This may sound strange, but I bet Joe is much more broken up and feeling guilty that Theresa is going to jail for his bullshit. She's obviously been wised up now, but I honestly can't imagine she had the slightest clue what she was signing, or that it was criminal. Even if she was smart enough to know that, her "Italian wife' upbringing would have never allowed her to defy her husbands wishes in any way. |

I think they are surprised ccc. I think the US Atty got a lot of letters from the public lately and even NJ.com (the online version of all the New Jersey papers) has been posting shit this week on them. Fishman has political aspirations I think. He wasn't going to go soft on these guys. they have been too much in the press in the last few weeks. It hasn't helped her that the show has been airing. It would have been better for her to be sentenced before the season started airing. Fishman went so far to ask that home detention be taken off the table, which makes me think it was totally on the table. It wasn't spoken of in the plea agreement. There is precedent for it in NJ - there is a family in our town that did similar shit - but they were lawyers who procured mortgages for immigrants and the wife got home detention and the husband went in during the week and was home on the weekends for 3 years. Mariah ITA - she signed anything Joe asked her to - she didn't care what it meant. She was happy to get the $. "But Joe I am not a realtor!" "Shuddup! Jus sign it, everyone is doing it." |
