I also don't think it's an odd thought Mariah. I think she knew something but not everything. Pics don't think joe thought he'd ever be caught either the usual.

Wow I would have loved to be in that courtroom. Did they have cameras inside or just on the way out that I saw on the news?

I have a friend who did something illegal but not close to this level. He had to go to weekend jail

I think you're right, cc. I don't think he ever thought he'd be caught. What kind of idiot uses his brothers IDs to get a driver's license ...especially when he's a public figure and people know his license was suspended?

I don't think the people in the Jersey cast are the brightest bulbs. I actually think Joe and Teresa are legit stupid - just not intelligent in any way, shape or form. Maybe Joe is a bit more intelligent but Teresa is as dull as a butter knife when i comes to mental abilities.

I'm surprised she's going to jail first and not him. Seems like she'd have a better chance at earning some income to pay some of these fines and bills then he will. Plus, if he went first then Gia would be what...18? and old enough to help a little more with her younger sisters when Joe had them. Although I suppose he'll move in with his mother and she'll do a lot of the motherly stuff while Tre's "gone away".

How will Tre survive in jail without her hair extensions, manicures and spray tans?

I thought there was some law that criminals can't profit off of their crimes, so if they write a book or something they can't get the money. In her case it would probably go to pay the fines and their creditors.

I think Teresa will get her hair up in a bun and put some pomade on it and look fabulicious! She's going to Camp Fed and will look great. She can probably buy spray tan in the commissary. lol.

The shorter incarceration time usually goes first.

I have to say that people similarly situated may not have gotten the same amount of time in NJ as Tre. Juicy by copping to the failure to file and pay taxes and being a predicate was definitely going to face more time.

Stupidity is no defense.

I hope Bravo does film her in jail because that's the closest those people will get to paying for their crimes. We all have feelings we wouldn't want the world to know, things that we know are beyond the limits of kindness or reason. We are not all urged to reveal them to millions of people.

But again, stupidity is no defense.

I actually think Teresa will do fine in prison. She didn't grow up in the lap of luxury. Chateau Juicy with all of its onyx and marble is a new phenomenon to them. Looking at that old house in Lincoln Park makes me think that she might be right at home. But I think it will be hell for her to be away from her daughters. That will be the hardest part for Teresa. That's her real punishment.

I think what's going to take her a long to time to come to terms with is "Why am I here???" I think she really thinks it is all Joe's fault. He told her to sign everything. He told her it's no big deal, everyone does it. The bank just requires it as a formality. They can always just borrow more money to pay it back, what's the big deal, yadda yadda. I don't think she every gave it a thought. She was very very happy to spend all that money. Never cared where it came from.

She was fine standing by her man when she thought he was the only one going "away." I wonder how fine she was last night. I bet she thought the court would let her stay out and make money to pay everyone back.

I think the fake W2s were one of the worst crimes. I wonder what happened to all the bankruptcy money they owed since they lied and were denied their bankruptcy. The news keep saying that they owe less than a million. They couldn't have paid all those loans off.

I do think she will be fine in prison. Her table flip makes me believe she will do just fine in there with the others, especially if things turn.. violent. She is a scrappy bitch. What do you think will happen if another inmate insults her intelligence? That always seems to be a trigger point. Hopefully she spends that time doing some serious self reflection. But self reflection is hard, and I don't hold out much hope for her in that.

What they are saying she "owes" are the fines the court is imposing, that is in addition to the money she still owes to all her creditors. So it is $13.1 million plus the fines the court just imposed upon them. The court can't discharge those loans I don't think.

I am flabbergasted that they submitted incorrect financials as part of their pre-sentence report. They left off an old corvette, an ATV and her costume jewelry and other items. The probation office went and inspected the property (as part of their PSR) and saw the stuff plain as day. I am sorry but this is where their high priced lawyers really did them a disservice. The lawyers know how PSRs work and how the gov't goes out and inspects stuff. I am sure they just handed the form to Tre and Joe and said fill it out, "And don't leave anything off you two!..." Now did the lawyers not know anything about these two? Did they not know about the bankruptcy fraud and how they left stuff off it - it was one of the counts!

They were being paid a shit load of money. I would wager close to several hundred thousand dollars to represent them for this case. It would have taken a few thousand dollars to send out an auditor to walk through the property to list all assets. They do it for estate sale auctions all the time. The lawyers looked like fools in court ("I am just as surprised as you your Honor!" - nice way to sell out your client!), and they subjected their clients to more time by not doing so. I know at the root Teresa and Joe had to list them, but frankly they do not know the value of anything. Old corvette = not worth anything, fake jewelry = not real = not worth much.

By not spending a tiny fraction of the $ that Tre and Juicy gave them, these lawyers damaged their reps. Would you go to them now? The judge said she was considering giving Teresa probation, but not after that report! Jesus, Probation! I wouldn't hire those lawyers. They basically took the money and ran.

But I actually think a little time will do Teresa good. Maybe just maybe it will get into that thick, neanderthal head of hers that she had some reflection to do about how she lived her life. I do think she keeps thinking that family means everything and that is all that matters. You know when she has a lightbulb go off, "Ohhhh, you mean...." and then whatever she says is wrong? I think she will keep having lightbulbs go off in prison, and they will be wrong for a long time. And the women at the lunch table will sadly shake their heads and say, "No Teresa, it wasn't wrong because you just signed it without reading it." or "It wasn't wrong because you spent the money on onyx instead of linoleum."

Oleander, ITA - how many table flips do you think Teresa will have in prison?

I don't think prison will "help" Theresa at all. She may wise up, but she would still never defy Joe. She just wasn't raised that way. Strict, basically old-word Italian Catholic woman, and she's obviously not very smart. I'd be pretty surprised if her IQ hits 3 digits.

I don't know, and I know it's unpopular, but I DO see her as a victim in this, not of the courts perhaps, but of Joe and her upbringing.

It does make me wonder how they handle these things in Italy, not modern Italy, but the boondocks like Sicily, or a few decades ago. Does anyone know? I just have a feeling that over there they realize a woman like Theresa has no choice and absolutely no say in finances.

One of my very best friend's father is Sicilian, old world, came here as a teen, and made a fortune legally, working 18 hour days in pharmaceuticals, working his way up over his career. He was quite American, even modern in some things, I really liked him. However, he had 4 daughters, and if any of them broke his rules, or the rules of the Catholic church, he would disown them. He disowned her sister for marrying a man 10 years younger than she was, because she lived with him for 6 months first and didn't lie about it. No Christmases, or holidays, her mother had to sneak around to speak to her. Rules were rules. (More stories, but that one illustrates it well.)

He would give them the world and broke his back to do it, but his word was law in that house, and in their lives. The idea of any of them standing up to him openly is laughable (although most were smart and went behind his back.) Strong love, but strong rules as well.

I learned a lot about the Mafia from her, as, like most Sicilians, he was connected. He ran all the way to California though, and carefully stayed on good terms with his mafia relatives and their bosses, while successfully staying OUT of any kind of crime. That was his focus in life, to not be involved with them. During one of his daughter's huge weddings they all came from NYC, the connected family members. He sat his girls down and went over every thing they could and could not say to them, rehearsed them. If he didn't invite them it would be an insult and dangerous, but he needed to keep them at arm's length while being appropriately welcoming. 600 people at that very formal wedding and reception, and a catered meal of 7 courses.

I guess I'm trying to say I feel like I've had a tiny little first hand glimpse into that kind of world. Theresa didn't stand a chance.
