I thought it was ALL good, and very real. I didn't see part one though. Theresa said her brother called her and couldn't stop crying, "bawled like a baby." Family offered to be in court with her, including him, but she asked them not to come. (I totally got that, she had to hold it together for the court and the press, and having other loved ones there would have probably made her cry/lose the shell she needed to get through it.) I would have done the same thing. She wants the girls with Joe, and his side of the family while she's away, and her mom too. She broke a bit when talking about Joe's dad, and said that she asked her brother to check in on their mom and dad for her while she's in jail. She sees them every day, and her dad's been in the hospital a lot. She was quite (controlled) emotional about them not having her there every day. In response to a question from Andy about her hair being done for court she said it had been done the day before. She doesn't know how to blow out her hair, and wanted to look respectful for the court. In her real life she slicks it back into a ponytail and wears a baseball cap almost every day, running around with the girls and working out every day. She said she did her own make up. She shut Joe up when he started to talk about the new driver's license case against him, since it's in progress. During that, I really felt that Theresa is done with following his orders blindly on legal matters, and she's really stepped up. They talked about the undeclared stuff, and I believed them. I know, shoot me. The lawyers, courts, and accountants did a walk through with them. Maybe they "hid" it, maybe not, but if they did, I'm not sure T knew. Honestly they seemed pretty confused about all of it. Neither is very bright. They've fired their accountants though. Theresa said she's going over everything from now on, and several times apologized. I have to say, I was really impressed with her composure. She's demonstrating a lot of inner strength which is much more appealing to me than the surface unpleasantness of the first two seasons of RHNJ (when I watched all, instead of here and there.) In a way, I feel that this whole experience may be causing Theresa to step up to a potential inside of her as a human, a woman, a wife. She's very limited but she seems to be using every tool in her limited box now, and I doubt she will cave to Joe on stuff in the future, at least not business/finance stuff. She's done. Joe is drinking a LOT. He can't sleep, over this and his dad's death. He says after the girls go to bed at 8 he will start drinking. He only drinks wine, but he goes through 2-4 bottles a night. I got the idea the "4" was when shared, but he stated it badly. He's in denial. I know drinkers like that. They say that because "it's only wine" or "it's only beer" and they "only drink at night, never in the day, never at work" that it's not alcoholism. T seemed to want him to go to a program, as the lawyers/judge talked about. I doubt he wants to change that. He says he can't sleep without it. He also said that He used to have one of two glasses of wine with dinner/at night. After RHNJ started he began drinking more. Theresa did confirm this. The longer the show was on, them more he drank. Andy kept asking them if they were sorry they did the show. No real answer, too hard to say, good and bad obviously. They talked a bit about deportation. They both know it's a real possibility. Theresa kind of looked at Andy as if he had two heads when he asked if she would divorce Joe. Joe said there is no point in worrying about it now, if it happens it happens, and implied that Italy was a pretty nice place anyway, and Theresa nodded. Andy, for once, did a pretty good job. Thanks for the recap -- my DVR didn't record it. Damn Bravo played it at 9PM, when the DVR was already recording SCANDAL and PROJECT RUNWAY. :( |

http://www.bravotv.com/watch-what-happens-live Another clip on the RHNJ page: http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-new-jersey There are some clips up, and they MAY put the full episode up (looks like it's hit and miss.) My overall impression is that they are handling this in slightly different ways. Joe's is a "it is what it is, one step at a time, get through this" mob light "whaddayagonnado?" bravado but it's a thin shell of that. The deeper guilt showed through to me, and I think it was in several parts. 1. My wife is a convicted felon and going to jail and her dad may die while she's in there. 2. Stupidity. Facing (at least inside) that he was not as smart as he thought he was, and probably was played a bit by other shady people. 3. His dad suffering from his actions, and (I felt) deep guilt that he made his dad's final years so angst ridden. 4. I didn't feel any remorse from him about what his actions have done to others, only to his family. 5. Unable to really face the future for his children/wife/self, a method of coping that isn't really that bad, just go a day at a time, don't think too far in the future, because inside he's riddled with fear and guilt, can't face it head on yet, so drinks. Theresa's is a more practical approach, and seems to come more from inner strength. 1. She knows that others don't understand that she would never leave her husband (upbringing/religion) but she's still kind of shocked by them not getting it. 2. She's growing up, taking responsibility seems to also mean a change in her future actions. She'll stick by Joe, forgive or put aside what he's DONE. She will not go along with him doing anything he wants in the future though. She will teach herself to understand every move he makes, or get advice when she doesn't understand. 3. She's not really thinking about what being in jail will do to her, she's concerned about what it will do to Joe, to the girls, and especially to her parents. 4. I think she's also worried about not being there to be the breadwinner to pay back their debts, just little things she said, she would never insult Joe that way. They also both really liked the judge. Theresa specifically said that she was kind, that she looked into their eyes when she spoke, and that she went out of her way to tell them (maybe her?) that this didn't reflect on her as a mother, child, wife, person, that her decision only reflected on the crime. Again, all my impressions, I'd love to hear what others think when you guys watch it. Edited by Mariah, Oct 10 2014, 04:16 PM.

Thanks for the recap! I shouldn't, i know, but i like them and I'll be honest - part of me thinks despite it all, she is a great mother. She's really there for those girls. And i admire get strength, despite part of it being bred in igneance/stupidity. I don't think i could have handled that the way she did. I feel badly for joe in that alcoholism is a hell of an addiction. It's selfish and harder than hell to beat. Alcoholism is a progressive disease, and it won't stay only wine, only after 8 or whatever he uses to justify it not being a problem. Hope he can eventually find the strength to stay sober. His girls are going to need him. Edited by oleander, Oct 10 2014, 05:35 PM.

Yeah, Andy SEEMED to be pushing for her to leave the girls with Melissa and Joe, instead of her alcoholic husband. Tre shut that down quickly, saying she wanted her girls with their dad, and they had a huge family to help, his sister, her mom, etc. etc. |

He probably just wants to film it all for the show -the Gorgas takng and raising the giudice girls. I read that bravo is moving up filming and will start relatively soon to film the "before college" move. |

Okay. I take that back. I odn't know if I like Teresa. I like Joe b/c he's entertaining. Teresa is shown in a sympathetic light now, which makes me sympathetic to her. But like her? I really can't see how the table flipping loon she was is not just lingering just beneath the surface. |

I think joe was honest and she was prepped very well to say almost nothing. She still annoyed me because she was super rehearsed. They still stole before they were on the show. So she got scrutinized bc she was on tv. Well you guys were still criminals. Not our fault you went on tv and got caught bc of it. Pushed also made a lot of money bc she was on the show I'm sorry to be so harsh. I found joe much more real and honest. Tre bored me with her repetitive fake apologies

Oh let me add I don't think joes drinking has changed that much. I think the lawyer used it to try get him into rehab instead of jail or less jail time - a very prominent excuse these days. Then they can put the blame for his problems stemming from the bottle. Etc etc. Edited by cccharley, Oct 10 2014, 08:33 PM.

Surprisingly, the episode was available ON DEMAND here, so I did watch it … with my mother and nephew interjecting every few seconds so I missed some answering questions from them about Halloween and school work, etc. BUT I saw the most of it and I did feel bad for Tree. I also feel that Andy wanted her to retract what she said about the show being scripted and she very carefully refused, which I felt was great of her. Her line in the sand will not move from "I didn't know my family was coming on the show" and Andy accepted that quickly, I thought. I do think Joe has a problem, but let's face it: in prison he will be going cold turkey for 42 months. Time to get past it, to live without and see what that means. I think they were told (scripted!) before the show that they'd be asked to say something to each other ON CAMERA for the "fans" … I hate being used like that. I wanted them to say "we talk to each other in private, no need for us to say it in front of everyone else." … but I suppose they agreed as part of the contract. |

Joe said something To the effect of drinking a ton of wine is better than a sleeping pill. Um, No Joe. Wouldn't short term Ambien therapy and therapy be better than alcoholism? |

Good recap. I kinda went in and out paying attention. Tre has aged, yes she looked good, but her skin looked like waxy stone. I'm sorry but I like da both of them numbnuts. I don't know why? Andy wanted his pound of flesh for their lawyers assertion that this is 'scripted.' Tre's response about story editors was a good one I thought. For instance the 'skevvy house remark.' I think she was prompted to say that, or what do they call it in law? Leading questions? Shit, I'm buying a home, my first, right now - I may have said something to that effect when viewing homes with my Realtor...particularly since I've been spoiled living in new construction this past year (rental). However I'm choosing to hire a cleaning lady to clean the 'skeevy' house before I move in vs. bilking creditors to afford something lavish. Potato, Potatoe. LOL |
