They probably just handed over the bankruptcy inventory and never did a new one knowing those two nit wits.

I still can't believe that they believe that their kids won't find out they were sentenced to jail - even when they go visit them while they are away. Do they not understand how the internet works? Looks like Jim Marchese was right about IQ and 12.

I don't have anywhere NEAR as many things as they have, but I am pretty sure I would miss "assets" if someone listed all of my stuff.

If I'm reading it right there are two different times they didn't list all of their assets.

The first time was on the bankruptcy petition back in 2009 and I think this is what Tre is suing for.
Quote:

Teresa claims in her lawsuit against Kridel that he screwed up the bankruptcy paperwork by not including her income, business interest, rental income and certain bank accounts.

The second time was when the judge was trying to decide their sentences.
Quote:

U.S. District Judge Esther Salas slammed them for not disclosing all their assets in a presentencing report. She said they didn’t include all the recreational vehicles they own.

I could understand not remembering how many dish towels I had or not noticing that the attorney didn't list the value of my cheapola Walmart dishes. I can't understand not noticing that my attorney didn't put down my income or all of my bank accounts. And I'd be an idiot for signing the form without double checking it. I also can't understand forgetting that I owned assets like ATV's. Again, she signed the form and by that point she should have known better to sign anything without reading it 10 times over.

On realitytea.com, it says the Feds raided the Guidice's house on Monday- and seized undisclosed assets including some of the Girls' Christmas presents!

That was a smart move by the Feds. Auction though? They should simply return the Christmas gifts to the actual stores to get their money.

If they didn't do what they were specifically told to by this Judge (create a pay back plan?) I don't get it. I get that they may be so stressed they're not taking it in, but hopefully someone on their legal team would be. A stack of cash in the Wine cellar? That is soooo Sopranos. I feel sorry for the Girls. I hope they weren't home.

Me too. They also have to prove that the gifts were bought by Teresa and not real gifts from other people. It's an unusual move. If they suspected they had cash, they usually would've done this while an investigation was pending, not after a sentence had been imposed. For all intents and purposes, their case has been closed. They just have to serve their sentence. Makes me think that something else is going on.

ETA - I just checked our local NJ online news and there is nothing, so whoever leaked was either involved in the raid or a family member. Uh oh.

ETA 2 - I wonder if things Teresa has bought after the sentencing with legally gotten gains are even subject to forfeiture? Things that she wasn't required to list on the disclosure statement? I know she owes the government restitution. But I wonder how much of the Andy Cohen interview money went to that. There were reports that the check was made out to the gov't in one tabloid.

And where did the $ in the wine cellar come from? Book signings?

They both strike me as the type to always have some cash hidden away and available, actually that's not that unusual even for non criminal types.

I too hope the kids weren't there, it's not their fault. Good point about whether or not the presents were gifts from others or not.

Well it hit the local online newspaper. Lots of denials:

Reports that federal agents raided the Montville Township home of Teresa and Joe Giudice and seized Christmas presents, plasma televisions, jewelry and stashes of hidden cash are not true, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office that prosecuted the couple for bankruptcy, mail and wire fraud.

What are the odds that Teresa and Joe are in the wine cellar right now digging up the money they hid and trying to hide it somewhere else? Lol

So who was the leak/source? Wacko Jac got into the Baileys again and was upset because Teresa wasn't returning her texts?

OMG- it's not even true? UGH- well, good . Only in my experience, large stacks of ca$h in home are a fairly common Italian-American practice, hidden in strange places. My MIL's was a Quacker Oats Can.

My MIL told me a couple of years after I had my first baby that she always kept a stash of her own money- she took it out of the household $. And that I should do the same. Lol. Cracked me up. I pay all the bills, so really my husband should be taking $ and putting it aside bc he has no idea what I am doing with it.

Ok - a local case - selling body parts and cashing bogus checks totaling $25 million. It was a conspiracy case. Usually all members are liable. The Rabbi was able to plea only to his own part. He isn't a citizen, Hello Joe Giudice. The Judge in this case decides that since is case "isn't one of moral turpitude" (um someone woke up without a Kidney!), that the guy doesn't get deported. Lol.

Some of the comments are saying that either they were scammed and robbed. Or they were in on a set up/robbery scam.
