I know Ranjake. "He said he was sorry! He was only a kid. He made a mistake!" Oy. Anyway, I went on the TLC website, and on the bottom right hand corner I clicked on "feedback" and wrote them a note under the "Shows" part, and wrote how they should cancel the show permanently, stop promoting fundamentalists that treat women as 2nd hand citizens. How by endorsing the Duggar programs they allowed the parents to endorse the molestation at the expense of their daughters. They allowed it to continue for a year before even thinking about doing anything about it. If Oprah knew about it, then TLC had to have known about it. Get back to the Learning in their mission, and start promoting shows that focus on the modern world instead of ones that throw women back into the 19th century. I also wrote that they should do a documentary exposing the Duggars and fundamentalist movements like Quiverfill and how they exploit/molest women. They would get a lot more viewers than they draw now. |

Great letter. And that is what floors me- TLC had to know! And he molested the 5-year-old! I'm just worried that the Girls probably got no counseling, think it happened because they were immodest and were defrauding Men :( |

I have been on the girls side of this. Yes, my brother (my parents favorite child) was 14 and I was 9. I didn't tell anyone about it until I told my husband until we had been married 6 or 7 years (there had been many child abuse cases come out that year) and I didn't tell my father until after my mother had passed away. As far as I know I was the only one that my brother abused. I checked with my niece and questioned her thoroughly but she always said no. I had told my niece's dad (my oldest brother) and his wife what had happened to me. OB (oldest brother) felt so bad. My dad tried to take the blame for AB (asshole brother). I finally confronted my brother several years ago when we were going through some of my dads stuff. I do believe he is remorseful about what happened and is truly sorry. He did tell his wife years ago. I can believe TLC may not have known anything about it. No one would have known anything in my family had I not spoken up. I have forgiven but I will never forget. I don't believe anyone that has gone through this will. I am having trouble with so many people with the mob mentality about this…many in fb group of former twopers that have holier than thou attitudes that seemed to have never ever done anything wrong in their lives yet are so miserable and unhappy they find fault in everything. |

So sorry about what you have gone through Cajun. I am glad that you have found loving support. It seems some Alice woman knew what was going on and wrote about it on the Free Jinjer boards years ago - after Oprah cancelled them in 2006. After Oprah cancelled them, TLC had to have known. You can bet the Oprah staffer made a call to TLC after they called the police. And I have to wonder if whoever called Oprah also placed a call to TLC at some point too. What bothers me is that Jim Bob let the stuff continue in his home for over a year before even consulting with church elders. The first child complained in March 2002 when Josh was 14. He went to church elders in July 2003. 4 daughters and a cousin complained. I wonder if it was the cousin's complaint that sent him to the elders because that took it out of the immediate family. I think there are two extreme camps on this - 1. is thinking schaedenfreude with Josh because he is out there with the FRC raising money and giving speeches against gays being able to marry and raise children because they are unnatural etc and may molest them and here he has molested 5 children in his past; and 2. the "oh he made a mistake and prayed it away, leave him alone" camp. I am thinking Jim Bob and Michelle are terrible parents who discovered sexual molestation going on in their home and not only did they not seek counseling for their son but they continued to let it happen for over 15 months, lied about getting him counseling and then let him return to the home. And they had the girls accept his apology and go on as if nothing happened. They are horrible parents. I strongly suspect too, given the sicko that they were following - that Gothard guy, that the girls were made in some way to feel responsible for the abuse they suffered. Josh himself seemed pretty persistent in his molestation, making the girl raise her nightgown/dress and then him pulling down her underwear so he could touch her vaginal area. That's a bold move. And one made by someone who doesn't think he is going to receive any retribution. All in all, I think Josh fell right in with the "Man is king and woman shall submit" think mixed in with all the weird sexual messages in that house - forbidden fruit, cover up your ankles but dad is boinking mom night and day. I am sure that Jim Bob told him that his sexual urges were evil. It would be interesting to see what goes into making of a molester. Edited by Finestra, May 23 2015, 01:18 PM.

((hugs)) Cajun :( I was NOT molested- but this is hitting me really hard for those little Girls. The Mantra of the family is that letting someone touch you before marriage is like giving your Husband a used piece of Gum :( |

Cajun I just want to say I am so sorry for what you went through. I just don't think those Duggar kids including Josh ever received or are ever going to receive the proper therapy to deal with this. I don't think the girls are allowed to even read real sites on the internet, so they probably don't realize that real therapy exists - he probably doesn't either. I just hope he hasn't gone on to continue molesting. |

And the fact that he now preaches "morality" to others is maddening. |

Michelle Duggar recorded that robo-call about "Gays will molest our Children" well after she knew about Josh, too. |

Good! What exactly does Walgreen's have to "monitor"?
From JimBob's 2002 campaign platform.

Well Walgreens pulled out later today. Maybe Jim Boob changed his tune a little after Josh got caught. I hope so. |
