lol, I know! The part that got me was they slept amongst all that garbage, and it didn't bother them. They both need to get longterm inhouse care. And the poor son, how could he ever be nomal? With that said, I loved his friend that came over and took it pretty well and then went on to help with the massive cleanup. Now that's a FRIEND! |

Sometimes I'll do something and then think to myself, "is this hoarding behavior?" For instance, today I toasted my usual English muffin for breakfast and used up the last of the stick of butter. I had the wrapper in my hand and was about to put it down on the counter instead of walking over to the trash can and caught myself thinking that that is how hoarding starts! So I took the three extra steps and threw it out. But when I walked into my bedroom and saw the sheets on my bed, I realized, no way would you ever became a hoarder....hoarders seem to have an aversion to sheets. |

See that's what I've noticed about hoarders, there are some that hoard ONLY trash, and those are the ones that kill me. I really think they deserve their own category, because they don't hoard good stuf....just trash. This show has made me clean my closet and drawers on the regular. Thanks to my husband, I can't leave anything in the kitchen out of place, it bugs the heck out of him. Guess I'm lucky he's like that....lol |

LOL.. only if you'd thrown it on the floor and developed a love affair with the wrapper! tee - your husband sounds like me. We have Purple Heart come at least a couple of times a month. I can't wait to get rid of stuff. |

One more question, wife said they get ready for work in that dirty funky shower - for real??? Because when I shower I want to get clean, and how would you do that being surrounded by mold? |

I bet she does she looked kinda funky herself. And if I found out my married boyfriend lived like that I'd run as fast as I could. I sure as hell wouldn't go back to help the massive cleanup so I could sneak into his & his wives personal papers. |

How are hoarders with mail? Serious question. I've never watched the show but mail in this day and age is such a pain in the ass, with shredding and recycling. It's overwhelming some seasons even if you try to opt out of things. Are these people somehow off of the USPS grid, or what? |

Well...they throw their mail on the floor along with the used diapers and sanitary napkins. This mail usually includes checks that they have misplaced for years. Then, when someone tries to throw away the junk mail, they reveal that they have been abused and the mail is their closest personal friend. |

Okay, I might be getting the swinger trash hoarders mixed up with more normal hoarders, but didn't they say they were losing their house, and that they had an anormous credit card debt because they bought things over and over. I assume they might order something and put it on the floor and then it gets covered with pizza boxes, cheese trays, pop cans, etc. Then they can't find it and they reorder it. The UPS man does a quick drop and run. Mail? God knows where that would end up or how much they have under all the crap. I know my mom won't discard any mail, not even junk mail and it accumulates fast! I sneak it out when she's not looking..... |

If the diapers and the sanitary napkins (NO NOT OKAY) are the bottom-most layer and the mail is on top, it could be worse... I wonder what the estimated number of hoarding households is in the U.S. |

Yeah, I used to work with a woman who would never let repairmen in and she got automatic shipments from QVC which she would never open. I can only imagine what her house looked like. She was always neat and clean, tho. |

Aside from motivational, these hoarder shows are also educational. They've taught me to never, EVER eat anything at a potluck dinner. |
