I have stopped watching... it just didn't interest me anymore. I ended up just watching the challenge and then fast forwarding to the runway/decision. I taped last week's epi, but deleted it without even watching. |

Last night was interesting -- they flew the final four to Paris, let them shop at a famous couture shop, they toured Valentino's shop, saw the Valentino fashion show, ate dinner on a boat on the Seine ... then came back to the NY workroom and made couture gowns. Joshua's was hideous -- disgusting Woolworth's margin basement fabric that a blind church lady would be embarrassed to wear -- and he TIED for last place with Uli (whose dress was bad, but not as bad as Joshua's) and so they made them take their dresses apart ON THE RUNWAY in ONE HOUR and remake them into a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LOOK. Uli's was amazing, Joshua's hideous and she made it through ... I said to nephew: If she doesn't make it, we don't have to watch any more. |

What a not shock. I saw that coming 10 years ago! (Not really.) ... I guess now we know what Mizrahi wants draped across him ... |

I started watching the new season, but it has been boring. They are working in teams, and I don't enjoy that as much as individual challenges. Michael Kors with his billion dollars has left, and Zac Posen is in his place. He is OK, but not snarky. Heidi looks as if she has had another nose job, her nose is thin as a pencil. So far no personality has stood out, and the challenges have been boring. Last week's: New uniforms for Susan Sarandon's boyfriend's pool playing bar. Everything was black and white, and that doesn't show up well on TV to begin with, plus the whole concept was just product placement for Sarandon. I'm ready to give up the series. It has run its course. Gosh, I just looked up Sarandon and she is 66. She looked great. I've seen her in person and her face is very lined. It doesn't show up on TV, maybe she had laser treatment or equivalent. Edited by weaver, Feb 3 2013, 08:55 AM.

Geez, that makes me feel old, Weaver -- I saw Susan Sarandon a few times when I lived in the village of NYC, about a block from her building. That was back in '88-'90 ... which I am calculating ... 25 years ago. Ye gods. She had just had her baby boy (one of them, anyway) and it was three days later and she was walking around the Korean deli on the corner and I was shocked at how great she looked. I guess she's one of the lucky ones. We've been watching the new season, too and I agree: TEAMS = BAD. The suckiest outfits have been sent home so far, though, but I'm not sure the winners were the best. They're gonna have to reconfigure the teams, I think, since the one team is down two people now. As far as personalities ... there are a few stand-outs, like Benjamin and Cindy. And the guy with the mustache who won the first challenge. But it usually seems dull at this point, IIRC ... Did NOT notice Heidi's nose -- I'll have to look; thanks for the tip! (Pun not intended) Michael Kors? Uh, who cares. |

This week was a bit better, but so many of these designers just aren't any good. And what is up with Heidi's wardrobe? Did you see what she wore for judging? A little slip top and a mismatched print skirt? I actually preferred Carolyn Murphy from All Stars as a judge, she wore designer duds, and has modelled in way more high end fashion shows than Heidi. That loudmouth blonde guy should have gone. He really had a meltdown. I'm pretty much done with his drama. Cindy's dress was just old fashioned; I think she can sew, but her esthetic, as they say, is way behind the times. I guess she was the token older woman. Couldn't they cast an older woman who really can design? And Heidi's perfume packaging looked so much like Flowerbomb's I was shocked. Black straps across a pink box, hmmmmm. Hey she might get sued for this like she got sued for the Van Cleef clover ripoff. Edited by weaver, Feb 10 2013, 09:00 AM.

I agree weaver. Blonde guy - he looks like a member of Hitler's Youth - literally put fabric around his model and then lashed it on her with piping. AND he didn't get kicked off for that?! Give me a break. I felt sorry for Cindy. Clearly she didn't stand a chance from day one. They must have seen her portfolio before they cast her and realized that she skewed to an older client. Why in the world then would they cast her? Just to beat her down for being old week after week?! I am so over this show and that makes me sad. Even my beloved Tim doesn't do it for me anymore. He seems sad and washed out this time around. |

I feel the same way dilbert. I feel like they cast Cindy to fill some 'mature woman spot' on the show more than anything else. Then they can't kick her off the first show but they never make it the end. The exception might have been Laura waaaay back on S3. Agree that Heidi's stylist must be going through a rough time. Heidi's been looking a little ragged lately. A couple weeks ago her hair looked like she just rolled out of bed. I skipped a few seasons but now I'm kind of wondering why I'm back. So far, I still can't see anyone on the cast with standout talent. |

I'm giving it one more week. If the blonde dude screws up again and is not auf'd, I'm out. The Sandoval or Andoval or whatever his name is guy designs pretty good stuff. And I'm hoping the Brooklyn woman, Sam, breaks out. Her stuff had some potential. Heidi, please ask Zac to bring an outfit with him for you. Although I'm a bit sick of his red velvet suit too. On All Stars the designers used to gasp when Carolyn Murphy came out. |

I'm still watching, pretty much to see Tim. I got my daughter all of Tim Gunn's books for Christmas and I love him even more after reading Gunn's Golden Rules. The team thing this season is hard to stomach, though. I'd imagine they're going to have to do some team shuffling tonight since NOTaDream Team is so much smaller than the other one. OMG, Dilbert, Benjamin does scream Hitler Youth! He should have been auf'd instead of Cindy, for sure. I was hoping Cindy would last longer because I like to root for someone from my state. But, while I'm sure she can sew like a fiend, she seemed to be out of her league as far as what's hip and fashionable in this decade. I hope Zac Posen starts to bring some snark to the party. Although he was orange, Michael Kors tossed out some good zingers. |

When Angela Lindvall was the host on All Stars (first season), she said they fed her lines through the earpiece. I think that is why she came across so robotic. She said by the end of the season she got more comfortable in saying what she thought and ignored the feed. But they didn't renew her. So it makes me wonder if Michael Kors got fed the lines, and is naturally snarky. I somehow suspect he didn't come up with them all on his own. Maybe Posen doesn't feel comfortable being so snarky, he seems nicer. They should have cast someone willing to be snarky. Being on the show sure didn't hurt MK's career, on the contrary. I was reading yesterday his sales are better than ever whereas Coach's are falling. MK is close to being a billionaire, according to Forbes. Edited by weaver, Feb 14 2013, 08:26 AM.

He probably realized he was crossing the line between good publicity and bad publicity -- going against the "all publicity is good publicity" grain, I think there is a time when you've become a parody. Sadly, for him that was long ago, but good for him on getting out of it anyway. |
