Ugh, cable was acting up last night. Tried to watch, but after the third blackout I gave up. Will watch ON DEMAND. Not the conclusion, anyway. But yeah, they all expected it, too -- no one was surprised.

I do not agree. Fit was terrible. That's all until I know you all have watched it.

I agreed, because the other collections were not that good. I can't be the only one who wishes Candice had said FU to the judges and shown what she planned. I wanted to see the huge dress and the wooden skirt! Edmund's … I've seen those dresses a million times. I saw nothing original except the 3rd dress that Heidi drooled over. Carrie whatzername was not a good judge. Platitudes instead of understanding. I wonder what her collection looks like. Bedazzled jeans, probably. ;)

Here's why I thought it was the right person who won: she did high-fashion for a client who is under-serviced in high style. I didn't like the materials, hate lace, but it was consistent AND they were right that it looked expensive. IMO.

Kelly used that faux metal and faux wood material, that looked flimsy and stretchy -- I think that is what Zac was complaining about. The dress she had next to her on the judging stage was the worst in her collection, I thought. Yes, the work and pattern was beautiful, but the dress finished was not good, IMO, and the model looked like a mannequin -- the lipstick was too dark for her complexion or something, it was just off. I loved a lot of her stuff -- but geez, I've never seen clothes that made skinny women look shockingly skinny like that. Usually I think models look "normal" while I'm aware that IRL they look sickly. But on Kelly's models, those fashions made them look like stick figures, or as she said "Like Disco Barbies" … I mean, if you have to sew a horizontal piece beneath the crotch, the legs are too thin! I also think her fashions are very unforgiving -- like you have the perfect body or forget it.

Candice's stuff would be more variable, like many women and shapes could wear it and still scare the shit out of kids in the neighborhood. I felt a tingle of justice was served when Ashley won over her, considering that challenge where they all passed Ashley by, led by Candice's first move.

I'm very interested in the reunion! Looks snarky.

I totally disagree. Just because we are underserviced doesn't mean we should accept any old ill fitting garment. To me, her line was not original or well fitted. The shorts, the models thighs were chewing the crotches. And all of her body con dresses, I can go purchase them now from several other Indy designers. Specifically the lace dress and the crop tops. Straight rip off of a small clothing line called RebDolls.

Oh, I didn't know that. I don't think the clothes were bad -- not my taste, but I did think they were well designed. But I can see your point. Who would you have picked to win?

I think they got it right up till Kelly and Ashley. Both were poorly fitted with issues. But ultimately Kelly had more design IMO. This is just opinion of course. It just makes me mad that she basically won because she's a plus size designer. And that's the rub, she's actually not good at flattering the plus size body. I am her target audience, maybe a little older, but I like fashion and staying abreast with trends and plus size women desperately need designers who flatter. It so frustrating being young, fashionable, and fat. I've only started embracing and dressing for my curves hence I've been exploring the Indy plus size designers like RebDolls and City Chic. Ashley is nothing new...and it has been done better, already.

But it hasn't been done well on PR -- though they've flirted with it, to their detriment on occasion, such as when they are asked to dress "real women" -- so maybe PR wanted an image change and this was the way to get it. I can't recall Nina Garcia asking any other winning designer to do something with Marie Claire. That surprised me. Right after the finale, Ashley was a guest on Rachel Zoe's program on Lifetime. I actually was spoiled on the win via someone on FB from the East Coast (unfriended him immediately, wanker) so then she pops up on RZ's show and I had no fun anticipating the win on the actual show which I saw later. I hate that. Meanwhile, I thought Kelly had some great stuff and her whole collection did look like a collection and would probably sell well -- to clients who have a lot of choice and always have a lot of choice.

I think Ashley only had to do "well enough" to win -- and she did better than that. I think crop tops are dangerous and difficult for plus size -- I'm plus size and I'd never wear one. So I thought that was brave, even if her models are barely bigger than regular models. I also thought the sheer pieces were brave. It did look like a collection which vaulted her over Edmund and Candice.

Yes, I could see Kelly winning. But then everyone would be like "you had a shot to give it to a plus size designer and you blew it" to the show. This way they might grumble "did she really deserve it" but the show wins historically for diversity. As an artist, I do NOT support giving a spot to someone just to make a point. As someone who likes the show and wants it to succeed and keep playing, I get it.

Anyone watch the reunion? Blah. EXCEPT: Kelly won $25,000 from the makeup people, which goes someways to her losing to Ashley, I think. Someone had remorse!

AND I LOL'd at Kelly being offended to be called a mean girl -- if that dump on Ashley wasn't planned, I'll eat my hat. (sorry for the old metaphor; I'm tired.)

BUT I always thought "they each only chose one person" so they weren't cumulatively responsible for her being overlooked until the end. AND I thought the guy's excuse of "we already planned it to be boys against girls" was LAME.

The argument that it hasn't been done well on PR doesn't matter to me. If that's the case the critique of Candace being too referential to McQueen would be null and void...and all the other times they rip designers for copying what's already out there.

I caught the reunion. Was glad Kelly won the 25k. But other then that I found it lackluster. Tim is loosing his credibility with me, I can't put my finger on it but his questions were awful. I just think I'm over him.....and don't get me started on Project Runway Jrs. I guess mild praise...it wasn't as bad as the Threads show, but wtf does Christian Siriano have a lock on all pre teen fashion design shows?

I saw 10 minutes or so of the teen show and that was enough. THOUGH, I caught it at the end, so I saw the first person sent home and Tim was quite kind to her, which I thought was genuine and nice.

I've lost track of the conversation, but just thinking about it, this time "the first" refers to clothing for a kind of woman who has been ignored -- not a "something I've never seen before" bullshit line such as Nina will say once in a while. I've heard several of the designers over the years cautioned against mimicking McQueen. He must be the most outrageous style, because anytime someone goes wild, they say "McQueen already did that" … I thought only Kelly and Ashley had original stuff. Personally, I love Candace's style. Love drama, love costumes IRL. Edmund did nada for me. Kelly's stuff is the kind of style that only looks good on super skinny bodies. I love it anyway, would buy something and put it in a frame on the wall. But Ashley's stuff, I can see real people wearing and feeling good. Not YOU, Shopper, because you don't like it! But other women in other cities. :)
